Epic. internet. video. of. the. YEAR. LOL! GO GO GADGET PILEDRIVER!
It could have ended badly for the bully though...fractured skull, crippled due to breaking his back or perhaps even his neck. Or died. Guess who'd have to go see a shrink and pay for the rest of his life? The big kid. just dropping him down and sitting on his face for 30 seconds would have gotten gold from me anyways but mehh. Big red head kid rules the day today. ___________

The way he was flopping around in circles leads me to believe several of those things you listed might have happened.

Been debating this in my head since I first watched it. As someone that was bullied myself at school I have much sympathy for the victim, Casey. However the fact that he had to take this drastic and highly dangerous action is proof that the system is failing on this issue all over the world. I won't congratulate someone for dropping another kid head first onto concrete seeing as he could have broken his neck. I also won't defend the bully as he not only instigated the retaliation but had tortured this kid to breaking point over a long period. It mainly makes me sad that we let this stuff happen over and over again.
What makes me mad is that people are congratulating the victim for dropping a kid head first onto concrete and picking on anyone who says otherwise on line, as well as organising a cyber bullying campaign of the bully himself.

You couldn't make it up...
Kids have picked on each other since the beginning of time. This isn't new, isn't the first time, and definitely won't be the last.
I don't know, I got picked on in jr high and high school, but I fought back once it got to me enough, and once you fight back the people that bully you usually get the point and stop. I chased one kid across the football field in high school then slammed his face into a wall 2 days later when I caught him in the lunch room...after that, never got bothered again...
...as long as these kids aren't killing each other, let them go through the growing pains of being a kid...they should learn to stand up for themselves or they're going have a much harder time later on in life...as long as it's not getting out of hand, you just gotta kinda let the kids work it out...not to say adults shouldn't step in and straighten some of these kids up, but adults can't be everywhere all of the time... - - [SERVICE] Corp Standings For POS anchoring

he sure did.
I got bullied in school by a dude whom was 90% deaf. he thought it gavce him permission to do as he pleased till he ****ed me off. then i kicked him square in the balls. and he was in agony for an hour. have to love hard school shoes. Stragely enough he never came near me again.
on a side note.. he wont get charges pressed as the evidence is there. he defended him self. no jury in the world will take it out on the victim.

It was a group harassing me in high school, all it took was for me to go after one of them and they stopped. I don't know, I wasn't in a position to really do anything about it for a long time, one day I snapped though and that's all it took to end it. - - [SERVICE] Corp Standings For POS anchoring

Id like to offer an alternative view. That young kids like this should be allowed to find out what life is about, without being judged by a million strangers from all over the World. This kind of thing is totally natural and happened all the time at my school. I appreciate that looking at that one clip makes me smile, and I think fair play big kid, but I have big reservations about children not being able to make mistakes in a private social setting anymore and being judged on the Internet. That clip will be around for ever now, and even if that horrible little kid changes and learns, he can never get away from the clip. Thats too much punishment for a child.
I think it should be an offence for children to be filmed in any way and posted on the Internet without parental consent from all parties shown in the video. I wonder how many people would like their most shameful moment posted on the Internet when they were too young to know better?

Yeah, thats my take too on the route to web actually. The spineless hangers-on found a new hero. All this stuff is ugly though and children need space and privacy to find themselves. That was my main point. Not sure quite what the answer is, like I said parental consent, but that is easier to say than to enforce.

So it is fine to make the 'mistake' to hit someone else in the face because you feel like it, but the real problem is that he asked his friend to film how he hits someone in the face?
But making mistakes is part of being young, right? Watch this: http://www.dumpert.nl/mediabase/1407821/e751c362/casey_spreekt_(interview).html (Dutch site, you might need to press f5 to get rid of commercial, youtube also has it but is like usual being fascists regarding copy right, and the only one they dont delete has been marked as 18+ by the morons). His life is being ruined by bullies, he contemplated suicide (and too many actually do it due to bullies), and if you pay attention you see he really speaks like an adult about it, simply because he had no childhood, it is ruined by the bullies.
In other words, the bullies might grow over their sociopathic behaviour, but the bullied wont forget.

It's really all about survival of of the fittest. Mammals in general, develop a hierachical social pecking order in a group (alphas, betas, gammas .. omegas etc.), humans are no different. How they achieve this depends on their level of sophistication, for humans it's usually both psyhologically and physically.
The best way to avoid bullying is to not portray yourself as an omega - the lowest rank. Bullies (not necessarily made up of alphas or betas) are usually instinctive, they go for the easy targets, which usually ends up with as the poor omegas.
Once you understand the above, impart your children with that knowledge. Make sure they understand that. Now, whether they sink or swim, it's up to them.
On a personal note, I never had issues with bullies. They don't exist. My size may have had something to do with it, but I think more importantly, the personality radiates non-omega characteristics.

After watching that, I now have far more respect for the lad. What a wonderfully articulate young man he is and I hope that all this media attention doesn't turn sour, as so often it can.

It's not always like that, I was picked on merely because I was always the "new kid". K, but then dont whine when they go for Columbine v2.0, and take survival of the fittest to the next level.
You say yourself you have never been bullied, dont act like you have any idea how that is or what you can do about it, you dont.

Well, if one was to look at your scenario in the social context, as a "new kid", you're not part of the pack or group. They don't know what do to with you in terms of pecking order. In addition, you're also alone and isolated, while it doesn't make you automatically a target, it does present a weakness.
So, the natural thing would be to test you. And as a "new kid", you showed them that you didn't appreciate the attention, didn't you?

That's the problem with society nowadays. It's easier to hate and blame others than seeking to understand why/how it happens. Once you understand the fundamental, you have a choice - 1) act or 2) remain as you were. Even though we live in a civilized society with laws, life isn't all about molly-coddling.
Granted what I posted was a generalization, but it's also a fundamental truth. Remember the Pareto principle, the 80:20 rule? The implied denial in your defensive statement is revealing if it's not a troll. In any case, I'm not here to step on people's toes. If you understand, fine ... if you don't, no worries.

Really? I would've thought the person who wilfully misinterpret the context of the whole paragraph and put/replace words where it doesn't exist would be the bigger idiot?

Any locality that punishes the big kid in this video and not the bully, with this video as evidence, needs to have their heads checked. Yes, the big kids actions were excessive and dangerous, but they were in self defense.
They just had a show on one of the Friday night news shows, the one that does the capture the predator shows. Well in their set ups they found that it really only took one person to stand up for the bullied. After one person stood up for the bullied most of the kids that were passive, to begin with, typically verbally ganged up on the bully to stop whatever verbal/physical abuse that was being implemented.

Nope, what you're talking about is stupidity.
Now, you seem hellbent and focused on showing that defending against bullies or learning how to steer clear of them will all lead to someone cracking up, grabbing a gun and shooting the public. Which therefore, implies that :
1) bullies are to be blamed 2) everyone will crack up, break the law and shoort friends and family 3) it is better not to defend against bullies 4) bully victims deserves a large amount of sympathy (read molly-coddle)
Of all the above, I think you're particularly fond of 4), which explains your line of thought for the past few posts.
This may seem crass or insensitive, the world isn't here to sympathize with someone's personal tragedy. You help a person by equipping him/herself with better knowledge (even after the fact), but there will come a point where the person will have to go by their own willpower. If they lack that, no amount of help will save them.
