You know, ive spent my days here doing so many things. Working up to my goals in ship training, Mining and doing missions with the corporation, helping other people get thier lifes goals, getting into a few spots of trouble.
But you know what ive noticed?
Nobody ever seems to relax these days. Its wierd.
Its all go here, go there, do this, do that, shoot him, shoot her, shoot that, but so far ive never met anyone who was sitting back, relaxing for a bit. Not even just sitting in station and taking a break.
Soif you ever get the chance to relax, be calm, take a load off. What do you do?
I like to take a swim or sleep a bit. I have a nice big pool in the offices i bought. Nice place. Get out of my pod, pt on my swimsuit and take a nice long swim. Or relax by the waters edge with a book or reading articles on my neocom. Otherwise, i just strip nd hop into bed. Peace, quiet, and i get some rest.
What about you?

Edited by: Kimochi Rendar on 15/03/2011 12:15:45 I like to swim too, or just chill out in my hot tub. I also like to read occasionally although I am quite picky about the kind of books I am prepared to spend the time on.
I've also been known to enjoy watching the Mindclash tournaments when they are on. I'm not sure if there is going to even be a tournament this year though due to the Sansha incursions... People have too much on their minds at the moment to play games it seems.
And then of course there's retail therapy. There's not a bad mood in the cluster that a new pair of shoes won't fix.

At this point, I'm starting to think I spend more time relaxing then doing any work.
But hey, after this many years, I deserve to from time to time. There's just not that much going on right now.

Mining is quite relaxing, but when I'm not doing that I'm chatting and mixing drinks in the club. There are other things I quite like that are oh so relaxing, but I'm sure nobody wants to hear about those. |

An interesting question, Lia.
Since I now consider myself semi-retired from active fleet operations, I've had more time to put things into perspective and see what hobbies take my fancy. Naturally, the majority of my time is spent with Evangeline, however during those days when she's planetside or upholding the proud traditions of our alliance, I enjoy painting.
Believe it or not, I may be a violent man that will torture, kill or maim anyone to accomplish my own goals, but I do have a creative side and a sensitive soul. In fact, it was only last week whilst I was waiting for a coat of paint to dry on my lastest piece; "Cyno in Hell", that I resorted to torturing my crew just to fill the time!
Other than that, I'm fairly normal - just my love of wine and classical music to pass the time.

After so many years at space, the best you can do is just doing things that gives you pleasure and nothing else. To relax? Easy question: Sin stock investments. Pump money into the industries of Wars and entertainment. Wars because you can simply pump money into the industry of violence and explore this very basic human primitive instict watching as they kill each other while you profit from it. Profits aren't the most important to someone like me at this point but the relaxation of their destruction and the tears from it is something that still relax my senses to watch from time to time.
And Entertainment industry is quite obvious why; Entertainment is one of the largest industries in the Universe. To promote events and invest heavily into companies and individuals who supplies the vices and needs of humankind such as drinking, drugs, sex and gambling has always been quite profitable and brought me a very confortable social network for more important business when needed.
So I consider that all I do is very relaxing, as the old proverb says: "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life." Quite true.
But even such matters just takes a very small portion of my time nowadays, What really matters to me is being with my lover and that's far from relaxing. Spending time to purge the soul of an heretic criminal gallente anarchist is a lifetime challenge that i simply adore more than anything else in this Universe. So no rest for the wicked.

When I am not working in-pod or across neocom communication networks, I am most often found in my 'office'. I have many pet projects that I find keep my attention. Neural pathway mapping and alteration via injected nanite and molecular protein sequences, long term combat projections and statistics, market analysis of several key products that have my interest, structural engineering of large scale zero-g manufacturing stations, botanical genetics alteration research (again using nanites and molecular protein sequences), et al.
I find my work on projects that do not require a pod interface to be exceptionally relaxing.

When you can indulge any whim, satisfy any desire, and enjoy any pleasure, the greatest solace to be found--to me, at least--is that found in nothing. To liberate myself from slavery to my senses, whether they be from body or neural link, I deactivate all implants and enter a sensory deprivation chamber for an hour every day.
This was a habit of mine long before becoming a capsuleer. In a standard saline chamber, you have sensation of yourself to keep you anchored in reality: the act of breathing, the sound of breath, the pulsing of blood. Being aware of these things, and nothing else, is a liberating introspective experience. I advise it to anyone looking for a state of pure relaxation.
I attempted to enter a sensory deprivation state within the capsule fairly recently, but it turned out to be a very bad idea. With all physical inputs overriden (therefore absent), there was no anchor to reality. Nothing to be conscious of, therefore no form of consciousness I had ever before experienced--nor care to experience again. I do not advise this to anyone who values sanity above experimentation. It is most definitely not relaxing.
In terms of sensory relaxation, I enjoy smoking a pipe, imbibing tasty beverages (teas, coffees, beers, and some wines), and soaking in the humid heat of summer twilight...especially on planets with fireflies.

Relax?
In my pod, listening to binaurally arranged compositions, I often drift off into a pleasant slumber. Though, this is not done during autopilot as I hardly ever use that anymore as I've learned it quite dangerous when timing jump gate travels when combat is possible. No, I'll command my cambots to give me a wide angle view of all of space around me and within one of my alliances forcefield bubbles, I watch.
When I am out of my pod, I often start new art or music projects. I am becoming quite known for a few of my pod-themed works of art...

Besides personifying a winged succubus from the underworld to assuage my loverĘs many sins with pleasures of the touch and flesh. I must confess I take great pleasure in singing, most often these days in VR within the confines of the la maison de tous les plaisirs, which is an eccentric little cabaret venue some of the more established capsuleers might remember.
Something about closing my eyes and concentrating on the music and the atmosphere of smoke and laughter, the mood of distant times, and the evocation of perfection in the moment. It is diverting and brings me a great deal of relaxation. A song and my loverĘs lips; a sweet cocktail and beautiful alchemy combined.
So one more song for the night...

The Germans were at my house I was told you resign But I could not And I took my gun.
Nobody asked me Where I come from and where I go You know who Clear my path.
I changed my name a hundred times I lost a wife and children But I have so many friends And I France.
An old man in an attic For the night we were hidden The enemy has (The Germans have taken) He died without surprise.
Just yesterday we were three It only remains me And I turn around In the prison boundaries.
The wind blows over the graves Freedom will return We forget We get back in the shadows
Do not fear death so much but rather the inadequate life. |
