I don't like it. You can already fight in anything below .5 space. just form a gang, fly to safespot and fight it out.
Fix the problem with people logging off as an out of game way to avoid combat before you add more.

this would be a welcome feature, feasibility looks good too :)
Reminds me of victorian gentlemen with dualing pistols, too old fasioned - i think not!! :P
seriously this would solve so many issues with taking on your arch enemy (or best friend hehe) in a fair and decisive manner.

I'm surprise that CCP has never taken Sim Mode from Jumpgate. That one of the things I love about jumpgate. You could just go into sim mode and battle it out with anybody else. Work on your flying with ANY ship. Any setup you wanted. I know I for one wouldn't mind trying out other ships not just pvp people, but also try out all kinds of setups on ships that odds are I will never fly in real space.

better brain storm an idea:
The Combat area
Concord could scatter "dualing bubbles" similar to POS force fields within empire space.
The field generator (structure) may be ankered around any moon or planet and remain inactive, ie without the field. Duelers come within 5000m of the structure and upload the "Field Harmonics" this process should make your ship glow or some indication.
with all duelers "Harmonized" and within 5k of the structure, the field engage enveloping the contenders and thowing out everyone else.

If you want to add duels and not lose a ship, Why don't you ask them to create a virtual battlefrield? Two player just a station that has a virtual battlefield, they click on it and duel eachother. spectators can join and they battle off in a virtual world with their ships. No lose and great fun. You wouldn't gain anything from these match, so normal pvp'ing outside those virtual worlds would still exist. Just my 2isk.

The idea is god, make its possible in Empire to duel
just make sure
you cant pop ships
Those who dont like the idea ^ ^ dont go near the spots simpel as that.
O btw if people can learn to fight ( PvP ) without risking there ships
then you get a better chans to get more people into PvP for real down in 00

Personally I hate duels - especially when there is no actual risk (ie: no death). In every game I play (or have played) that has a dueling feature I am constantly spammed with duel challenges. It is annoying and something I should not be bothered with.
If you want to duel, first make certain you are doing it for a reason other than measure your size against someone else and two, make sure there is a real threat of loss if you lose the duel.

Homer simpson starts smacking bart in local, and bart decides to deal with this noob once and for all. Thus asking for a 'Duel' But Homer Simpson in an ibis is a noob alt and his main: HomerSimpson in his Raven invites bart in his Bestower for a duel...
