I don't have 4/5 scanning skills, I use an anathema to scan, never had a problem scanning anything down 100% with 4 probes.
Even when I used a punisher (and much worse skills), I still never had a problem scanning down anything.

When you get the skills to 5 like you should of your srs about probing the difference will be like night and day. I also use the anathema great little ship 
I don't disagree, but this is a low sp character atm, so the skills I have work for me at the moment (working on gun skills atm in order to use t2 lasers across the board).
The main thing I was pointing out though was the fact that it's not impossible to scan down magnometric and radar sites with low skills and a crappy ship. I did it plenty of times. Hell, I even ninja salvaged in that punisher for a while.

Quite a few, actually. Maybe I'm just epic, I don't know, but the only thing that I wasn't able to scan down was a tengu at one point which was missioning (It's not that I peaked out at a percent and couldn't get it higher, it was that the tengu left before I could finish, but up to that point it was a ***** to scan down).
Every other time I went exploring about, and picked up a site, I was always able to scan it down to 100% using 4 probes. Never had much trouble.
