gal recons give you 60/72km range with domination warp disruptor. I think that's pretty awesome. 27 km overheated domination scrambler ...and with a loki in the fleet - that's like 90km overheated point
I think that's 1 awesome ship

Rails don't have the worst DPS - artilleries do.
Of course they have their niche with the huge alpha.
Actually rails get a slightly better paper DPS than cruise missiles as well(which are also long range weapon)

Edited by: Songbird on 20/03/2011 12:25:45 I still say that rails should mimic blasters and be the highest damage, shortest range, long range weapons. This way caldari ships get to have some meaningful use for their racial weapon and usual ship bonus.
Gallente ships would get a midranged engagement weapon, because lets face it if rails did as much dps as tachyons they'd be better than AC's.(yeah tachs have slightly higher DPS than AC's even though it's short range vs long range weapon).
Best of all the kronos would go from fail to win in 1 easy step.
P.S. BTW is it me or is it crazy to have the short ranged t2 ammo penalized for tracking?
Edit: blasters could still be used by the hardcore gamer that likes the challenge.

^^^ the post before last explained it well.
Gallente have cruiser, t2, t3,bc and a BS bonused to drones.
Amarr have cruiser t2,t3 bonused to drones. Actually amarr have 2x t2 bonused for drones shps. And amarr cruiser has more drone space than gallente one. You can say amarr's main weapon is drones too :).
The fact is though that amarr use lasers. As an afterthought they use rockets, hams, drones.
Gallente use hybrids - sometimes they also use drones, the reason being the sucking of hybrids.
Caldari use missiles. As an afterthought they also use hybrids but usually they don't.
Just to clear all and any confusions out there

If drones were a main weapon they'd have a damage mod. I.e. instead of the missiles ballistic control system(used for missiles) you'd have a drone control system - it should give 10.5% ROF and 10% damage increase.
Hell - all the drone upgrade modules that do exist are t1, and if there is a faction module it doesn't drop - you get it from a freaking mission.
On top of that drones change their mind - they choose on their own which target to shoot.
Oh and I don't think you can overheat the drones.
And don't get me started on drone UI. The very least they could do is make drone groups assignable to F1-F8 key by drag and drop.
Anyway - as I said before amarr have almost as many drone ships as gallente - it doesn't mean amarr main weapon is drones.
I suppose though that you're trolling so I guess that's a point for you.
Still hybrids are far from fine - and even though I am a gallente and proud of it I don't fly gal ships, as much as I'd like because they're ineffective.

And, imo, the existence of other guns with similar DPS and tracking, but far superior range.
, lower fitting requirements, no cap usage, changeable damage types...

caldari now have rocket ships working for them too btw.
The thing that brings them down is the hybrids - they're bad in any kind of ship, be it gal or cal ...

your medium blasters on the domi go unbonused. Why not use neutralizers, this way you can shut down the tank of w/e is beating you , and often the gank as well

Originally by: Rouge Drone As a full time pvp player I have no problems killing with blaster boats both solo and in small gangs. Speed and tracking aren't that big an issue due to the current metagame being dominated by large and slow battlecruisers. I'd also say that any ship large enough to have tracking issues is too large to be flown without a dedicated tackler in the first place.
Sounds to me like a lot of you want to have your cake and eat it instead of having to adapt. If you truly are having trouble getting into range and staying there then I suggest that you fit and fly your ship to counter that situation rather than acting outraged when the same generic fitting you've been using for 4 expansions doesn't work anymore.
Not sure how small exactly is your gang but by the time I get into firing range (of the tackled primary ) it's already dead or dying and in the killmail it says I 0 damage. Might as well not be there.
Ah screw it - why beat a dead horse - AC's and lasers got what I need atm - I'm trained up nobody's forcing me to fly blaster boats. It's a non issue. Might have sounded sounded cool when I started the game - I mean - railguns - how cool is that, or blasters , but now I know better.
