On a new build of Win7-64, the issue I am referring to is the problem of the first screen appearing and then disappearing. Nothing else happens.
If you load up Process Explorer (from Microsoft/Sysinternals) you will see the stub loads the Eve.exe then exits after about 15sec. The exe remains in memory and looks as if the item is minimized.
The resolution. In my case it was reinstalling DirectX that solved the problem. Even though dxdiag showed I had DirectX11 loaded and functioning correctly (no faults recorded), the re-install fixed the issue.
Hope this helps

EVE only uses DirectX 9, which is a shame considering that I have Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit Service Pack 1 and a DX10 Video Card. If only EVE supported DX10 and DX11 SATISFIED?!?! |

This thread is referring to copying the client across systems requires you to install the DirectX distributable. A process that is covered when running an installer rather than copying the files across.
Most games can function this way by copying the data files from systems and then ensuring you run the distributables that are requried often C++, DirectX and .NET rather than ever running an installer.
In fact this is how Steam functions installing them at first run.
EVE provides the requried files in CCP\EVE\bin\DirectX\DXSETUP.EXE
This is irrelevant as to whether your system has DirectX installed, you still need to install the library files for the game itself. having DirectX installing simply means you can run DirectX applications ------------------------------------- The system issues man. |
