Recently got skill set to start using the modulated strip miners, and picked up some tech one mining crystals. I can see from the overview that they can be damaged with prolonged use. I have two questions with regards to them
1. How do I understand the damage on the crystal. If it reads 0.25, does that mean 25% damage or still under 1%?
2. Can crystals be repaired or re-cut? I've already checked the repair tab in dock and they are not listed.

It's been a long time since I've done much mining, but I think it pops at 1.0 Or maybe it's 0...
You can't repair damaged crystals, but you can reprocess them for their full value.

can't repair (as has been stated).
There's a chance that at each cycle (IIRC) an "event" will happen that causes damage. this event deals, (again IIRC... T1 crystals were a LONG time ago) 0.01 damage to the crystal.
Overall, I think the math works out such that you get about 20 hours (on average) for T1, and 10 hours for T2 crystals.

For all intents and purposes, consider crystals as having 40 HP, and every cycle they have a chance of taking 1 HP of damage.
When they hit 39/40 = 0.975 damage (98% displayed damage) they will break on the next random damage event. This is a good time to remove the crystal and reprocess it (or even at 38/40 = 95% damage to play it safe).

Crystals cannot be repaired, but they can be reprocessed.
With perfect reprocessing you get all the base Nocxium back, and can simply sell that or build another crystal with it (with a BPO researched to perfect M.E. which doesn't take long, and Production Efficiency 5).
With tech 2 crystals you get the Nocxium, however you lose the Hypersynaptic Fiber, as it is considered "extra" material, and those are never recoverable (and you have to invent another T2 BPC if you want to build another crystal).
