People oppose Incarna? I know some are afraid of the game turning into the traditional MMORPG but none really are against it except a few who are just trying to be different.

Same here, if you're going to ragequit eve, or quit at all, please contract your stuff to me from jita or another trade hub at your earliest opportunity, along with your wallet and corporation shares if any. I will gladly hold onto them for you until (if) you return. Any capitals or t2 bpos will be kept safe likewise. I cannot hold your supercaps, though I do know similar people who would be able to hang onto them for you. --

People oppose it because it adds nothing to game, its sole purpose is to betatest the new game engine for Twilight Online.
If you are somebody into stakes and vampires thats probably pretty exciting for you. If you despise the cliche, poorly written drivel that is WoD... you get the idea. ...Then when you stopped to think about it. All you really said was Lalala. |

I usually avoid vampire themed stuff like the plague, but WoD is one that doesn't suck, and isn't anywhere near as cliche as what you usually find.
Whether or not CCP can pull it off, on a 13+ rating no less, is another thing entirely. I personally think they gimped the project right out of the gates going for that rating.

Vampires are incredibly charismatic immortals who have been hiding themselves in secret cults/clans from humans for centuries, have super powers and are killed by wooden stakes to the heart. They need to drink blood to survive, though so you can empathize with them, it can be animal blood instead of just human blood.

Whaat...eve isn't a traditional mmo? Hmm..ok...we have one big cluster. That's unique and well Eveish. So, grinding? Yes we have that. Pvp, yes we have that. Carebearing, yes we have that. Tears, OH YES we have that. Chatting only and not doing much..yes we have that. 100% serious people who go postal everytime a dev mentions something new, yes we have that. Why so serious? Yes, we have that. Nice little odd bits here and there that have no meaning to gameplay? Yes, we have those nice shiny rays and shadows.
Eve is a mmo, and a traditional one too (i mean IS there a non-traditional mmo?). Incarna will just bring some new people who either leave in the first month (no harm dun) or they stay (which will mean overall impact on market, pvp and well just make eve more eve). It's not like Incarna will make your nightmare go POOF and you have to piggyride on the wow-wannabe who names his newbieship as the Horse armor +2.
The one and ONLY reason we still playing eve is that it evolves. If they had only fixed the bugs when first released eve would have died a long time ago. Eve changes and that's the fun part.

I don't oppose Incarna and never opposed any other expansion either. EVE is becoming more stable and better with every patch. If you don't like the game you don't have to play it, simple as.
The vocal minority on the forum rages about various non-essential aspects are indeed loud, but their carebear voices usually fizzle away quick enough.
I'm confident in CCP and their plan for the game. Last I looked the tinfoil hats were sold out again though so I guess the conspiracy talks will continue for a while longer.
Oh, and I don't need any of the stuff anyone else might have. It's usually tainted and not worthy of my valuable time.

That stuff probably comprises 10% of WoD. They branch out and take it in all kinds of other directions.
I don't want to appear like some kind of big vampire fan, so please stop assuming so much about something you aren't familiar with and making me correct you.

Guess what, those people are idiots in the truest sense of the word. Incarna will add something, not only by technical definition but also in substance: enough that a lot of people who couldn't quite get into EVE before will soon be happy to subscribe. That's a solid benefit that should be obvious to everyone. I'm very ready to criticize the details of Incarna's implementation, however; I'm no fanboi. _____________________________ [Sebiestor tattoos and Intaki hair: NEVER GIVE UP, NEVER SURRENDER.] |

Sadly, most of these people will swiftly unsubscribe as soon as they lose their first retriever (which they saved for weeks for) to a suicide ganker, lose their entire fortune to a scammer, get gate camped/podded (without an adequate clone) on a seemingly innocent courier mission, have their quest item stolen (something that doesn't normally happen in most mmo's) and then ransomed to them by a pirate.
One does have to wonder if CCP is thinking this one all the way through. Incarna WILL mean many new subs and a good portion of those will be people who are more attracted to PvE and not PvP. After a few hours of enjoying themselves in their captains quarters, they are in for an extremely rude awakening as soon as they undock and start trying to swim with the sharks.
Inviting a large number of new players into the game without doing anything to make the new player experience better (safer) is just asking for trouble. Once you lose those players, you don't get them back. They don't easily forget the hours they toiled only to have them violently stolen by some high sec predator who then humiliates them as well.
I've been playing for over four years but I came into the game expecting exactly what I got. I love the aforementioned game mechanics and the wild west nature of Eve. Having said that, I still won't recommend this game to any of my friends or family members. It's just too hard to explain to them why there are so many misanthropes and why the game makes it so hard on new players to succeed.
Watching Incarna unfold will be fun for sure. Seeing what results when we invite droves of PvE players into the game and then proceed to sucker punch them right in the nuts will be interesting at the very least.

No sorry. This is internet SPACESHIPS online. Adding a huge feature that gives people yet another reason to not undock is not needed, nor should it be wanted. ♥

Sadly, most of these people will swiftly unsubscribeà
^This is what I'm betting will happen. People that didn't enjoy playing Eve before won't suddenly like it simply because they now have the ability to run laps around a station tossing emotes at people.
If Incarna is iterated on and eventually offers some actual game play that we don't currently have, that could be a different storyà But that's a long way off.
