@OP: You're getting *EYE STRAIN* (at most) from having a small screen with "HD" resolution pushed onto you my marketing gimmicks. If you play Eve, or otherwise work with a screen for many hours, it pays you to have a larger screen with a suitable native resolution.
Your eyes are getting worse because you're aging. Sucks, but it's true.

I would recommend getting at least a 32" 1080p panel if you can afford it then even at 1920x1080 you can easily read the fonts.
<--getting old too.

I agree, I have only been playing EVE for a few weeks now, but head, neck, back aches seems to be par for the course. I would love to see this fixed, but in the mean time pop some ibuprofen. and take coffee breaks between missions.
BTW I run it on a 17" monitor that i think the dionsaurs used back in the day.

I wish people wouldn't adopt marketing-speak when describing resolution.
Anyway, it's true that there needs to be an option for substantially larger UI text, and the font itself needs to be tweaked to eliminate the confusion between certain letters, numbers, and symbols. _____________________________ [Sebiestor tattoos and Intaki hair: NEVER GIVE UP, NEVER SURRENDER.] |

Forget it.
We had been complaining about the font size and font itself (O vs 0, 1 vs l, etc) since the beginning of EVE and we had been ignored. CCP just refuses to comment on the issue.
Only thing I can think of is to set your resolution smaller.

I've been complaining about this since I started playing in 2007.
This really needs to be fixed. We need new fonts or ideally a fully-scalable UI like most other MMOs have. -----WARNING SIGNATURE BELOW-----

I think it's time they do some work in the font size area as well. I play on a 27-inch iMac @ 2560 x 1440 and the fonts are just to small. Chat is ok because it has a very flexible adjustment rate.

It is really sad that computer monitor standards are dependent on TV standards.
I ran UXGA for years with no Issues (high res screen), now all my screens are QWXGA which are all look great for EVE as well.
I will admit the font is not the best. It is not about the size of the font but rather spacing between characters. Changing the font to this forums font would make a huge difference.
Also putting a monitor in anything other then its native resolution will make it blurry. Sometimes it is hardly noticeable but the blur is there.
On the bit of your eyes getting worse because of EVE, I seriously doubt it.

No one, seriously, NO ONE plays Eve on a screen smaller than 21.5". Those who play on 15" - 21" only change skills, sell chars or do market stuff.
So come back to 2011 and get a normal screen.

No one, seriously, NO ONE has a laptop with a screen larger than 20". Those who play on a 19"-50" only play on desktops.

Why would I want to buy a 22" monitor for my laptop... I would have 2 things to lug around

I play on a 17" at 1280x1024. It's not ideal, I really feel the lack of screen space, but I have no choice. _____________________________ [Sebiestor tattoos and Intaki hair: NEVER GIVE UP, NEVER SURRENDER.] |

I play on a 47" LCD Screen running 1920X1080 and from the couch it is a little difficult to read chat boxes or the Overview, it would be nice to be able to set a much larger Font

Eye focus is a function of eye muscles.
If you wear glasses, it's comparable to using a cane for your legs. People who use canes eventually end up using walkers. Eventually they end up in wheelchairs.
I have known old codgers who refused to use canes, walkers, etc, and they walked on their own two legs until the end (*live in Florida for 9 years and you will have known enough oldsters to see a pattern). Others who did what the doctor ordered spent their last year or two in hospice being wheeled around by orderlies.
When I was 14 they said I needed glasses. Hogwash. I was a powerlifter and knew how muscles worked, and how the eyes focus with muscles. I ignored them. It's a scam: get glasses, eyes get weaker. Years later, you need a new prescription: more $$. They put flouride in water to prevent cavities and it causes dental flourosis - the teeth get brittle and can break. Another scam. See the pattern?
In the armed forces they said I had 20/30 vision and gave me glasses to fix that. I got away with refusing to wear them in basic training because even the drill sargeant thought it was ridiculous to have glasses for 20/30. I never wore them.
I am over 40 and still don't need glasses, and I stare at monitors all day, and play Eve too. My vision has actually improved over the years.
The OPs problems is that he fell for the scam. Drop the glasses, let the eyes get stronger. Case closed.
