Quote: It was Lai Dai time on all fronts last Sunday at the COLOSSUS championships as Team Lai Dai swept the tournament's final race, winning both the team contest as well as the individual 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.
Alia Ursul of Evolution came in first of all racers, making her the first known Rattlesnake owner in the pod pilot community. Deovina of Omega Enterprises came in second, winning a Navy-issued Caracal missile boat, and Feral of Drink Starsi took third place, earning himself the right to call a Navy Hookbill patrol craft his own. All three racers came in on behalf of the Lai Dai Corporation's team, which won the team victory as well as the individual battle, making every member of the team a proud owner of a Navy-issue Raven battleship.
Haalonen Ihoya, Chief Coordinator of Public Relations for Lai Dai, was quick to issue a release exclaiming Lai Dai's immense pride in its superb team of racers and congratulating them on the victory. According to the rules of the championship, the Lai Dai Corporation, being the winner, will receive a bonus from the Chief Executive Panel Treasury this year for promotional purposes, as well as receiving substantial grants towards research and development of new technologies. Ihoya was quoted as saying, "Our thanks go to our brave racers, who sped past all obstacles and never looked back. Their prizes were well-earned."
The marathon race began in the depths of the Fountain region, where immediately racers were set upon by a blockade from the notorious Evolution corporation, presumably out to help those of their members participating in the contest. The one-hundred-plus jump route then took racers through five waypoints across the entire northwestern face of the known universe. A fair few locations, such as a waypoint in the Cloud Ring region, played host to attackers hell-bent on destroying as many of their allies' competitors as possible. The race ended in the depths of the Branch region, where racers came through the finish line after a final sprint heavily camped by hostile forces.
The CBD, Hyasyoda, Ishukone, Kaalakiota, Nugoeihuvi, Sukuuvestaa and Wiyrkomi corporations have all issued releases extending their heartfelt thanks to the teams representing them in the contest.
The award ceremony will be held at the Lai Dai Corporation's Headquarters in Airkio this coming Friday.
So Lai Dai released a press statement? It would be nice to see it.
And what of the rest of the lai dai team? Did we not work as hard as our teammates to not earn our name on the front page news as well? We crossed as a team, and won as a team. This news release makes it appear as if it was an individual winning the race.
What time will this rewards ceremony be held? We've received no information, no emails, and no interviews with anyone. We are in the dark. All we know is we won the race.
Please don't keep the winners in the dark at least. Give us SOME information either publicly or privatly.

A mention for the 2nd and 3rd place teams, Wirykomi and Hyasoda would have been nice as well, all things considering.

I know what you mean, I'm still waiting for information as to how many racers actually survived the event, not to mention who got podded first...
The award ceremony will probably happen same time as the race though I'm betting...
(EDIT: Odds removed as ceremony time has just been announced...)

Place your bets, people, 5 mill maximum bet as always
dam.n thread hijackers!
i can understand why they don't want to put it as general knowledge (too many ppl will attend) but the racers themselves that won should be able to have info. We're supposed to attend right?

Edited by: DUI BET on 04/02/2005 13:47:16 Just do what I'm doing, go to the headquarters at about 7:00pm and wait for the ceremony to begin...
Oh, and don't be mad and call me a thread hijacker. I just remember when the race was going to begin, people kept asking to place bets based on what time the race was actually going to start. This was just a little fun in honour of that...

hey, at leat you got the info during the race. I didn' even have that. Got teleported to starting system, then was clueless for 15 minutes, saw everyone suddenly rush out and figured somehow the start was given.
Since I still had no clue about the waypoints and destinations and the friendly vounteers from the event refused the give me the needed info to race I gave up after 30 minutes:)

sorry DUI, wasn't mad. I did actually find it very funny that you had to start up betting odds on when the ceremony would start :) You'll find any excuse to turn anything into a betting opportunity :)
