Too bad, you have to play EVE with all effects off, no sound, no brackets.... to not freeze the client every 10 seconds.

Ok, the turrets deploying from their bays is pretty cool.
But I'm not happy here. The lasers no longer look like lasers. The laser animation was the ENTIRE reason I rolled Amarr in the first place.

All the guns were using the exact same particle effect. I think it's safe to say those were placeholders.
The models, on the other hand.... BRILLIANT. I can only hope the new effects and sounds (or at least, I'm hoping for new sounds) will match the quality of the models.

CCP stated that the actual animations of the firing effects won't be touched for a while, it's only the model turrets themselves.

The effect was from the minmatar AC, so don't worry, those were simple placeholders, my guess is that effect was actually already attached to an early test model, and they just interchanged the model for the various guns, in other words it is just a quick animation mockup. The current effects (those on TQ, not in the video) will stay in place when the new turret animations and models are added. New effects are coming, but that will be at a later time. (and in CCP tradition, they said they would be awesome )

Not quite, infact not even close. Firstly any ship with (potentially) launcher points needs multiple spaces on the hull in the same way turrets are located, so missiles could be launched roughly in the correct direction from the hull, then you have to actually make the missiles originate from the correct launcher such that when firing on something ahead of you they come from a launcher thats roughly forwards facing, rearwards then rear launchers etc etc. Sadly here EVEs physics engine falls over and fails badly, it just doesn't seem to be able handle creating new objects in space elegantly hence we have the current ugly situation where missiles are spawned into space at your ships physics Ball location and so appear to magically fly out through the hull model, and drones also spawn instantly rather than flying out of a proper bay.
Personally I'd love to see missiles and drones both get some loving to launch somewhat correctly (and return to bay in the case of drones) as currently these systems both look pretty crap ingame, even if the current models are hideous at least guns have something that represents them reasonably well already, but I suspect we wont see anything in this area because it would generate additional load for the physics engine to handle, especially having multiple locations for missile objects to start from, if you've read the recent blogs on the subject you'd already know how much missiles hurt the hampsters. Perhaps something could be done with drones, since typically each ship has far fewer drone launch/recall operations going on than a missile spammer has missile lunches...
Oh and I can't help but wonder how close actual guns will look ingame to that video, even tho it looks like ingame video there's usually a shortfall from what we see and what we get, altho some of them do look a little too intricate and involved with the retraction mechanisms, a little reduction in fiddly bits there wouldn't be such a bad thing imo, also wondering if we get in summer or just SoonÖ?
