My question is this:
Can you hide a POS? Lets say it was positioned in a random system in a random region is there a way an enemy pilot/corporation can find our POS?
Am i correct in thinking that an intelligence agent cannot find you if your in a different region?

A level 4 locator agent can locate you anywhere. So when you go to fuel the POS or anything, they can trace the character. There's no way to directly run a locator on a POS though ---------- Who, me? |

Fixed it for ya!
And yes, aside from WH space... L4 Agents can find you anywhere in the Eve 'verse. Now you don't have to be close to your POS very often... so you could probably minimize the risks slightly. Just make sure you don't buy POS fuel on contract from the station

You can always take it down, but other than that I can't think of anything else you can do.

There used to be a way of hiding a POS by manipulating the size of a grid but CCP declared it an exploit IIRC

You can hide a pos from overview/scan by unanchoring them.

Not true. I've used Locators in the past to trace people inside wormholes.

No. Someone can always find your tower. If its the person your trying to hide it from or not, someone will find it and if someone wants to, they'll kill it.

A complex question. The replies so far have been right. It is entirely possible to find a POS. I've accidentally found a few enemy POSs. However, it can be made MUCH harder by following a few simple rules.
NEVER keep a character in the POS system longer than needed. Try to keep them from ever locating you in that system or noting any use of that system by any member of your Corp. In fact, for bonus points, make a new alt within the Corp to fuel it. Never use this character when WTs are around, never let them see it, never let anyone know it exists. If it ever ends up on battleclinic or any killboard, biomass it, it is useless.
NEVER, for the love of all that is holy, EVER, leave a self named ship in the POS. This is pretty much screaming the POSs ownership to every person who happens to hit D-Scan.
If they don't know you have a POS, these should keep you pretty safe. If they know you do, it becomes more complex as they could just search moon by moon.
Nothing is 100% though.

Anchor in a system with hundreds of moons, and also at least a hundred other POSes. Name it similar to all of the other POSes. Your POS will now be incredibly painful to scan down. ----------

Basically, do these 2 things and it'll be fine:
1) Don't let your enemy know you have this pos. 2) Don't hang out anywhere near this pos.
Once my wartargets stop feeding me kills, I start looking for ways to entice them to fight. One of the best ways to get them to fight is to scan down every moon within 2-3 jumps of their main system, find a few of their posses, and start killing them. |

Whatever you do, don't give your POS manager a title such as, say, "POS Manager". If I were going to wardec some corp, the first thing I would do is find out who runs the fuel out to the POS...

Form a holding corporation for your pos containing the characters (preferably alts) so it will not be so obvious that the pos belongs to your corp. Then do your very best to not tip off the bad guys about the pos.

can also hide the POS in a WH, much harder to find them, of course much less useful for k-space purposes too.
