The video begins with Incarna... which we do not have. With in seconds, it ties directly into DUST 514... which does not exist.
And ultimately does not reflect my game play in any way shape or form
. . .
I feel a little like Vanguard planet side, and CCP is on the Moros that Nukes me from orbit.
Vanguard - "Where is that goddamn expansion!" CCP - "There has been a change of plans..." Vanguard - "It isn't coming..."
So what exactly did we see? Everyone is raving about nothing, what is actually about to happen is a 0.0 Nerf (that will change nothing) and this same old game that is turning into "Blobs and Botters Online"
Maybe CCP should get these people to make some CGI movies short films instead of Trailers... At least that would have some meaning to this game that we call EVE Online.

So what your saying is that you don't understand what the word 'future' means.
if you are going to be so bitter about everything EVE maybe you are playing the wrong game. Go outside and get some fresh air or something.

Representation. It has none.
Observe any other video game's eye candy trailer, this one has Zero representation for the current state of anything we physically play.
Edit:
I am actually not questioning CCP, I am questioning how easy you all are awed with shiny.

First up lets dispell some of those rumours you have spent far too much time listening to and replace them with some facts. First lets begin with your assertion that the video was all CGI. It wasn't. If you had watched the fanfest stream you would have found out that everything major in that video was made using each games engine. The Incarna footage was most likely made using the version CCP currently have on their private internal build server, DUST 514 has already had extensive work done to it, there was even a playable demo shown, so your assertion that DUST 514 doesn't exist is wrong.
The video itself was CCP's way of saying "Look, we know it isn't here just yet, but THIS is what we are working towards." In other words a fully fledged sci-fi universe. We will be able to walk from a bar, to our pod, dock in to our massive starship and undock from a massive space station then fly to a nearby planet and take it over using groundtroops supported from orbit, and then we can fly off and take over an entire star system, swathes of star systems. The scale we are looking at is truly epic and there is nothing that even comes close. That is the point of the video, and it was made using things that exist, not just a bunch of CGI animations, the kind which Blizzard have no choice but to use because their "actual" in game graphics are still stuck in 1994.
As for your other complaints, when taken together with your ignorance about something as clear and self evident as a video, it seems clear that the best thing for you would be to leave.

I'm questioning how easy you are confused by the word "future", the actual description of the video, the "Reply" link on the thread that's actually about the video and the responses you're getting by making your own special thread about your cluelessness. Don't worry though, I'm not expecting any answers either.

Just a few games that used CGI for their trailers, unlike EVE which has used its own graphics engine. As for representation, I think very few games trailers truly represent the games. In fact it is quite common to see little disclaimers saying *not representative of actual gameplay* slapped in plain view on their adverts. And of course we are all awed with the shiny, thats part of the point of the video. Silly boy.
EDIT: Silly spelling error

Their last couple of trailers were actually in game material, just sayin Nothing in education is so astonishing as the amount of ignorance it accumulates in the form of facts. |

You're really dense.
The video was essentially a techdemo showing what their engines(Carbon and w/e Dust uses) can do. On top of that, the actual plot of the video was an example of EvE & Dust 514's interaction.
This is CCP's goal, they showed this to the audience with the pretext:
ôWe have prepared something I am going to show that is a vision into the future, taking everything Torfi talked about and condensing it into a single trailer. 'A VISION FOR THE FUTURE' û made with real Carbon tools. WonÆt be exactly like this but this is what we WILL do. WeÆd love to have your help to explain it to the world.ö

It only exists in your head.
When people saw a little of the Captain's Quarters, the remarks I heard were along the lines of "I was expecting much more after all this time waiting" And this is just more fanfest crap taking you away from what the next half dozen expansions will really contain
And that is what this thread is about... you are all too easy

I have to agree with Eternum Praetorian, on this one. It seems all eve is about these days are the big alliances and wait for it...wait for it...BOTTING!!!! And before the azzhats run their mouths, and tell me I should leave the game, get a grip, stfu, etc... BITE ME, I pay to play this game and have a right to say as much as the next player. It's all good and such that ccp has a vision, but could you (ccp) at least work on fixing the stuff that has plagued this came for years?? This is my first mmog, and I don't care to play another one, but I am seeing the best game online slowly sliding into the toilet. And I hate that. My main concern is botting, I play the game the way ccp says too. I mission, mine, plex and such, and still dont have billions and billions of isk compared to the botters. Is that fair, no. But then again it's a "sandbox" right, so I guess I should bot too? I mean doesnt "sandbox' mean we can do as we please??CCP turns a blind eye and all of us who follow the rules gets it right in the azz.So lets all agree to fix the problems now, to make this a better game, for all of us.

Why dont they do a "future" trailer where all players have their own real life CCP android massaging their back whilst they play then.
Ve Plan Ze Androids in Ze futue Ja? Is ok to make video.
Both are about as likely to make it to the game in the next 10 years.
As a side note why would the guy at the end care he got shot in the head he will just pop out of a clone bay 5 seconds later. (o)

Edited by: Eternum Praetorian on 27/03/2011 16:08:11 You see... A very large portion of EVE's actual player base are either discontent, bored or just plain ****ed off right now.
But then a brand new shiny trailer comes along (in yet another fanfest) representing "What Is Coming Soon" (TM) and suddenly there is nothing but Ooooo's and Ahhhhh!!! and **** yeas!!!
I don't know what goes through your tiny little chipmunk brains. But you need to stop buzzings around like little fruit flies that have ADD and pay attention to the here and now.
