Okay, so... I've been running 2 day 2 hour cycles lately on planets that are supposedly "high volume" on the items in question... and yes, I'm in 0.0 space. None the less, the resources seem to deplete incredibly quickly...
I have to ask... what, now, is the "ideal" time span to run on an extractor to minimize movement? I'm talking, literally, maybe touch the planet once every 3-4 days if possible. I'm not looking to get maximum isk out of this... just a little side income. Problem is, atm, it doesn't seem to want to stop depleting on me...

Are all your extractor heads targetting a single hotspot? If you want have a sustainable (or almost sustainable) equilibrium with the regeneration of the planet, try spreading out the heads across a cluster of different hotspots, even if individually they aren't always the best.
(also, beware of too-good-to-be-true superrich hotspots if you are trying to plan out a sustainable low-maintence operation ... they are likely to be "nuggets" which don't regenerate like regular hotspots)
I hope that helps.

Have you checked if there is maybe another player farming the same planet/spot ???

A hotspot that gives 50.000/h resources will have that down to 38.000 in 1 week. After that the rates should stabilize. About 33.000/h for the next month and a half. With smart placing of extractor heads you can extend or shorten that time

Well, far as I can tell nobody else is using the planet at all (but, granted, I know that the "show other players networks" thing doesn't work quite right).
Additionally, I'm trying to use 2-3 hotspots per ECU (3-4 extractors per hotspot). I'm also attempting to avoid nuggets where I can.
The worst part is, I've been taking notice of where things are in relation to my CC... and the hotspots NEVER seem to recover in the same place twice... and this is with my skills at Planetology 5 / Adv. Planetology 4...
*shrugs* Just.. frustrating...

2 day 2 hour cycles?
I'm intrigued.
Why not 2 day 1 hour 30 min cycles?
(for those who don't know the difference between the two - the 2 day 2 hour cycle results in a one hour extraction cycle, the 2 day 1 hour 30 min cycle has a 30 minute extraction cycle, much more convenient for calculations)
And yes you can attain stability in extraction on these cycles - your target is probably 48k per hour average (which keeps 8 BIF running non stop) which is doable but you need pretty good planets. 42-45k / hour average in null should definitely be doable though. (Numbers come from a 10 extractor heads)

That's just it... I'm barely scraping 40k / hour (averaging about 35k / hour atm) with the 1 hour cycle and it's STILL draining the planet dry. I'm 99% sure I'm not using nuggets, since they gently downgrade around the white hot areas instead of a sharp dropoff... but I just don't know anymore to be honest.
