Dude, this expansion is about bringing a whole new demension to the game and allowing players to connect in ways which we haven't seen or done before. I am extreemly pumped for the content being rolled out, and for some reason you feel this conent isn't for pve'rs, you need to lay off the funky grass that you're smoking ...

LULZ, Sure, Mr. Pitt, I'll quit smoking. Frankly, I absolutely LOVE that I don't have to run around to buy things. The absolute last thing I want is to have to run around a station just to buy something here and and create a contract over there.
However, if I can headshot someone who owes me in said station, it might be worth camping inside of it for some more payback.
Maybe I'll just wait for some Dust to settle before I remove my accounts.

I am in almost the exact same boat ( three accounts also ). I've had some long term goals and achieved them all. I am at the same point as you: "what now?" You want to be the small fish in a big pond again.
The answer ( for me at least ) is to venture into the unknown. My next venture might be corp theft, high sec ninja looting/salvaging, small gang piracy, or just exploring in a covops watching the natives.
What I've learned is that this game is about the social interactions and nothing else. You're the kid in the sand box with a huge castle who doesn't see the other kids who are throwing plastic shovels at each other.

I've been thinking about that too - hence my note on can flipping and ganking flippers.
I'll probably wait for Dust and keep working on my ME/PE on my mains. Feel free to in-game message me. Maybe we should look to starting a meta-out of game-corp to do this. ;)

To be blunt, go. Not the hatefull, dont let the door smack you in the ass, haz your stuff, cliche trash you get from trolls. Just a point of fact. I don't want CCP to murder thier game to satisfy my need to keep my main safe. I sure would like them to make it an option but the game is PvP. EvE is a PvP game. If that's not your style, go. I do and will. I come back and stay around with miner chars to see what is happening. Maybe one day EvE will be what i expect it to be. I never want it to be a PvE game though.
Go play a PvE game. There are lots.
Thanks. That was well reasoned and spoken. I don't want CCP to murder their game either. I've played for 5ish years, and I'm getting tired of the all pvp mindset that seems to be this game's dev mantra.
Yes, some PVE content is out, but if I want the 'best' stuff eve has to offer, I have to venture out into low/null, slog my way through different alliances territory to play. I just don't think I should have to go through alliance territory where NBKOS rules just to play the game.
I just want access to all the content the game has to offer. I don't mind pvp sometimes; I would like access to other content - that I pay for but can't always reach.
I understand what you are saying. Pure, non stop, powergrind PvP gets as tiresome ISK grind after a while and high sec or safe PvE to break the burnout is absolutely useless. There are days you would like to log in to EvE and just relax, not be driven by that intensity you are forced to deal with in null. Right now high sec is a waste of time so you have 2 options. Do it for no reason at all or just drop the subs. I log Sis in, mine some Veld or some Omber or whatever the macro accounts can't be bothered to take. I make no ISK at it, not enough to contribute to my Null Sec side of the game but CCP don't get the other accounts. It isn't even at the core thier fault PvP is dry and predictable and as burnout prone as ISK grind but it isnt my dudty to pay them for something I don't participate in either.
Drop to one account, or drop them all. Go try something else. Pirates of the Burning Sea is a free game, PvP oriented too. Check it out or stick to STO. I tried it, wasn't my thing but I know they did alot of work to it since I played. The point is, CCP need to understand the real level of demand for thier game. Most people don't play this game for what it was intended to be. They are fools IMO. |

I agree, it is a tiring trend now that carebears shriek in terror when facing PVP elements and the risk of losing internet spaceships and instead of trying something new like engaging PVP targets in a frigate or whatever, they run off to the forums to complain about PVP.
If you find PVP and the risk of losing internet spaceships to be the aspects that is killing your game, just unsub and don't bother coming back. Plenty of generic MMOS out there for you to play instead.

Edited by: Bellac on 30/03/2011 08:07:49 For my 10p it seems that CCP do little to engage the SOLO player. It doesnt really matter if they are PVE, PVP, industrialist, explorer, or indeed anything else. When you start skilling and experiencing up you soon reach a platau and you can only move on by joining a big corp or alliance.
This is all well and good but on the whole you need to then put in time in a corp to get anything back, (I am not complaining about this - I am just saying) and in my experience this is not possible. I have over my time tried a bit of eveything and the one ruling factor has always been how much I can actually play the game. I have real life and a family that need me to be in the real world so I cant spend more than an odd hour here and there in the world of EvE.
So here I am 130m SP, tech2 BPOs (so money is no issue) and playing solo doing the same sort of things I have been doing for a cupla years now. Mining solo is a chore, but is much easier in a gang. Lvl 4 missions are no challenge, to move on with missions you need to be in a gang. Expeditions solo are do-able but are hard work as there is alot of faffing with ship changing and work better as a gang. Industrialism is impossible without a corp to keep the POS up and running. With worm holes you need a group to make any headway. incursions can work by just dropping in to a fleet but in my experience this is not rewarding and I am sure works better in a corp with experience.
So in the last few years what is the new content for a SOLO player? hmmm....
I seriously can not think of anything. OK flame away. Its CCPs game and they can set it up however they want, but if you consider how many accounts there are, then there are alot of small corp and solo players paying for accounts and getting no new content or loving no matter how skilled or experienced they are.
Remember that for every hard core pirate out there having fun and losing ships, there has to be a carebear somewhere replacing these losses.

"I don't want to do anything based on the actions of others..."

I've been playing on and off since 2003. Over the years I've suffered bouts of "burn-out syndrome", so I've taken breaks, in fact I've only recently come back after a break of just over a year. So right now I'm into eve again and I'm quite excited about all the changes coming up.
I'm also really excited by some of the new games on the horizon, Guild Wars 2, Star Wars, Deus Ex etc. But they are all months away so I'm not really thinking about them right now.
But anyway, my advice just like several other people here is to take a break. Forget about eve for how ever long you need (maybe forever, maybe not) and go explore another virtual world. There are some really good ones out there right now that are worth looking at. Oh and no, STO isn't one of them.. I played that for a while and tbh I felt like I was being patronised ever time I logged on, it felt like an MMO designed for telly tubbies - with an IQ of below 50. But I guess we have different tastes :)

STOP IT!
Ok mate look, you got 3 accoutnts? You're bored of LS / NS PvP? You still wanna make money? You want to log in and to just talk to people?
GET YOUR ASS into a C3 Womrhole.
That's what i am doing, every day different connections to different people, sometimes you get owned, sometimes you **** someone, sometimes there is nothing to do, running sites gives loads of ISK.
If you have 3 pretty solid chracters, you could maybe solo run a C3, or find yourself some people who would like to start one with you.

Thanks, everyone. I do appreciate the low amount of trolling and especially the very good advice.
For PVP, I have specialized in ewar. I love watching a ship that I've locked down get eaten by swarms of frigs and cruisers. <3 that.
My other accounts are mining and industry. No T2 BPO's but check out my other posts in the forum. I'm asking for new material.
it was the person just above this post who, I think, said it best when they said that it was about the SOLO player getting no love. I think that point was really what I was trying to drive this thread towards.
I'm in two great corps, but I've quit playing w them and feel left out. I've started to re-engage with them, and I'll see where that takes me. I'll give my stuff away if I leave, and I won't if I don't.
As for STO, it took a while to grow on me. The missions are fun and challenging, and the universe is absolutely nothing like Eve. I enjoy dropping a specific shield and throwing some photons through it for the kill. I'm playing with some IRL friends who make it more enjoyable than it would be by myself.
Crafting is more fun. Making their version of ISK is easier, and I lean on my eve experience to take advantage whenever I can. ;) yarrr.
Who knows, maybe I just need a red sports car and some new hot guy to take out. Or, maybe I just need to figure out some way for me to take advantage of the hardcore players who are strung out on too much ennui.
All of that sounds fun.

But maybe u should switch corps even if it means taking down ur pos. Or try running a noob corp its not easy but helps u grow. From recruiting to explaining to them how to use your now corp pos for th eir first me job.put the ppl u want 2 play with in ur corp. Its all about the ppl otherwize it is just single player pve. Hope I helped but if not its only my personal experiance talking here and better luck w the next poster. P.s. if u quit don't delete accounts just stop paying 4 them. That's the incarna thing for dust and all that, that doesn't add anything to EVE really. But that is just what I see, lots don't agree, they can figure it out for themselves as it bears down on them, as other games have happened to them.
But yeah, I agree about taking a break, at least for someone that has been around for some time if they really feel burnt. A few mmo's I played over six years, had a few breaks of a month or two in there. I don't play any of them any longer though, they had their own incarna and dust (ie things that become about potential others and not us any longer).
