up and running for 8 years, able to hire incredibly talented IT staff to keep such a large playerbase running, yet somehow for 8 years are at an absolute conundrum of how macro's are running in their system. and on top of top they are invoking EULA right now. that to me is really a laugh.

These must be the most ultimate alqida/Soviet bots to have ever existed right??? I mean WOOOOOOOOOOWWWW THESE BOTS ARE HARDCORE!!
b/c if anyone on CCP knew about these scripts and are not saying anything RIGHT NOW about them, then they will have a whole lot to answer for later, won' they? Somehow invoking EULA makes them believe that that is the equivalent of making everyone just shutting up and not invoking logic.

What has one got to do with the other ? EULA is "invoked" all the time, what, are you saying there was a time when CCP has not claimed they don't like bots or what ? Also, it's not like the sudden increased anti-bot interest was their idea of fun, it was massive complaining from the playerbase that promted them to shift focus from other stuff like RMT and whatnot else. Yeah, sure, RMT and botting is linked to some degree, but not necessarily. It's merely a question of limited manpower and where that manpower is focused. _

actually that is a mis-statement, the longer any current or former CCP staff member who has ever received a paycheck from this corporation has ever kept their silence on how the continuous bot-program has run while denying such existence, the larger a lawyer can run up a case against this company, either individually or in the aggregate.

Sense, it's there. You try to stop running die-hard interference, or not. Either way logic has it that this corporation has known of exactly how botting has been been done for several years.

You are a moron.
Its easy to know how botting is being done (just buy a copy of a few bots, most are the same). The hard part is stopping it in a way that will not adversely effect human players. And unless you magically know how to do that, shut up.

Thank you for saving me the time to type up something similar

YES. There is NO SOLUTION. You can never eliminate botting completely. Just look at any other MMO.

Right. Moron because you're not ready how CCP can or will not show anything for their "efforts" whether philosophical stance, or their actual enforcement. Because you are not. Just because you empty-quoted some guy's dismissal does not deflect the true aim of guilt at the proper suspect. THAT IS CCP. You go off and live in your la-la land, ok>?

Anyway, no one empty quoted.
And CCP has no obligation to tell us what they have or have not been doing against bots. They owe you nothing (have you actually read the EULA).

So, what, the constant banning of countless offenders, including a 2k mass ban at about the time the fanfest happened is not showing anything ? What the hell do you want, a daily updated public list of banned players and reason for banning ? You're not getting that. _

Have you ever heard of that game called "World of Warcraft" ? Do you have any idea how much cash they make or how many more people they have employed ? Guess how they solved the bot problem ? Answer : they didn't. _

This was one of the reasons why I don't play that game. A new player cant play the game without the need of buying gold. which IMO is broken.

When one of their more effective anti-botting approaches of such a huge corporation is to sue the bot makers instead of trying to counter them via software or other in-game means, you know that the anti-botting fight is a nearly hopeless one.

Can the EULA incriminate CCP itself anyway. Or is that mainly just a user-side code of conduct? Is there a mal-alignment precedent in cases such as this?

Not quite directly, true. But the OP's lack of competency in matters of anti-bot measures makes him heavily underestimate the difficulty of creating effective measures against it, implying that he thinks he could do a better job if he was in their place, or that he thinks CCP is either incompetent or malevolent. Or, you know, the wrong conclusion. So, maybe not quite "the" D-K effect (since he's not trying to fix botting himself, failing, and not realizing it), but very closely related anyway. Do they have a word for that ? Probably. I just can't think of it right now. So the DK example was the most fitting one I could come up with. _

Well basically, Basic and obvious stuff is basic and obvious (obviously), but anyway:
Ask CCP or Blizz or whoever else are running MMO's out there and they'll tell you they're trying to make as much money as possible. As humanly possible. They need to find a solution to botting that doesn't ultimately loose them more of peoples hard-earned that it wins them.
You might say "why can't they listen to us customers for once instead of their fat wallets" but the truth is, happy customers = more money. So every time you see them outrageously changing some game mechanic, ship slot layout or not banning loads of bots, you can be sure it's because if they didn't they'd loose money.
So you can rest assured that if they haven't done something about the blatantly obvious bots yet it's in your own best interest :p

CCP invest their efforts in undertakings less futile. This stems from the same wisdom that allows "such a major servor network" to be "up and running for 8 years". Also, crystal meth might make you feel strong, fast and awesome right now, but that old saying "drugs are bad mmmk" is unfortunately true.

1. I don't think he tried to imply he could do it better (I guess you did) 2. You thought there was a particular term for what you observed, but since you couldn't think of any you just used a different one. 3. You knew the behavior was "not quite the D-K effect" yet still called it that.
