Again, not involved in this debate (is there one?), just interjecting my unwanted opinion on people who act as if they have some type of knowledge about scientific research that's actually quite complex and ongoing, simply by reading the wiki page.
In short, if someone is acting stupid, just call them stupid. There's no need to press for intellectual superiority by referencing some vaguely associated study.

You realize he's not an actual doctor doing actual diagnoses and he would fail them just as badly as you did, right?

Wasn't aware that Charlie Sheen also played EVE.
And FYI, Anti cheat processes have more to do with human resources than actual IT-systems like explained in the Fanfest Security presentation. This won't change, there will always be humans needed to assess the situation (and do the actual banning).

So, what, the constant banning of countless offenders, including a 2k mass ban at about the time the fanfest happened is not showing anything ?
I keep seeing this statement, but seem to have missed the CCP statement/devblog. Does anyone have the link?

Well bigest problem with botting is they evolve. As soon as ccp manages to block one bot, its programmer will eventyally figure out how to code arround that block.
Its like ecosystem where life forms try combat eachothers and most fit survive. Evolution is driven by human programming intelligense and real world money.

Any why has a new player the need to buy gold in wow? You are a moron. Though blizzard even has a equivalent to plex, so a new player can get his gold even "legal".

result of that? smarter bots.
Unholy Rage was just public relation as their "perma ban" lasted only one month.
As for PLEX, they are the biggest botting enabler, they permit to have account untied to a CC and thus to a RL identity. The botting going to industrial scale dates from the introduction of PLEX actually. So no CCP never did anything meaningful against bots, and tbh I'm not quite convinced they are doing anything of value now. Their three strikes and you're out rule is a licence to bot till you are caught twice...

I read the forums often.
Dark humor isn't satirical (what I am guessing you meant), it just happens they are often used in conjunction. I must not be able to understand sarcasm? There was nothing sarcastic about the original comment I was responding to.
A frequent observer of forum etiquette might presume that a tongue and wink indicates the comment is not a personal jab, but instead a light hearted jest, not to be taken foul. In other words, totally irrelevant to the study you referenced.
I can, however, sum it up. It's often misunderstood as "stupid people will get stupider because they are stupid". The actual analogy would be (and this is, again, an infinite summarization) "over-confidence breeds incompetence". Most of the data is not published on wikipedia (if I were to guess, 95% or more). A large portion of the current study is going on in politics, where it appears some of the people most affected by this (or theorized to be) 'effect' are politicians (this applies to anyone in high public standing and/or view), and it grows exponentially (it's actually scary). Before long you have public figures who are extremely confident in themselves, yet at the same time know little to nothing about which they are making serious decisions about, simply because they believe in themselves so much. This leads them to make the wrong decisions and to refuse empirical data that proves to a certainty their ideas are dead wrong, which in turn builds more false confidence.
So yes, derailed successful.

Oh, and that's why we should have term limits for Senators, Representatives, and Supreme Court Judges. One, maybe two at most.
