Is there a time line for getting Eve onto a cloud gaming (aka subscription server)site (real soon now? TM)? It would increase the Portability and speed of my gaming experience, also I wouldn't take a Depreciation hit on hardware every month......also you can watch someone playing and get a idea how you would like the game (FREE advertising!) maybe a deal with Online! or others?
http://www.onlive.com/service (please notice I'm not debating the concept of cloud gaming.)

I will hold off on the +1 for now. But once Cloud gaming gets better something like eve should not be on it. Once they clear up the issues this idea gets two thumbs WAY up. ----------- Born Amarr, Raised Minmatar. |

Yo dawg, I heard you liked latency, so I put another layer of abstraction, I/O processing and compression between you and the servers so you can lag while you lag.

The game payes for itself...(rollover on 8 Billion isk) and I'm a strat and trader kind of player so latency does not matter to me...AND BESIDES your paying for someone to cut out the servers in between you and the host...
BUT ONCE AGAIN I'm not here to debate cloud gaming, the market says it works ...move on..get over it! When can I get eve online on my Ipad?

Maybe put the test server on ONline! and make it available for (gasp!) free...so people can see what eve is about...

Honestly, I don't like this whole cloud gaming thing thats going around. I oppose the idea of having your game stored on some remote server that a hundred things could go wrong with. I enjoy having the game directly accessible on my own computer, which I can diagnose and fix by myself.

You mentioned that people can watch others play their game. Have you considered how much of a security breach this is to a game like EVE? Also, have you looked into the costs associated with hosting a game on this/that service?

Your concept of security is wildly limited. There are a ****tonne of other things in EVE that you want to keep secret beyond just a login password.
I'm guessing you really don't understand what the problem with this might be, in which case you should stop posting, because your idea is terrible.
Terrible.

I guess you wouldn't show what you would not want to screen share, is that so hard? This beats the heck out of any video sharing software we currently have is the point. This whole meme is working for wow and other games already, go argue with success. The only place you can't use it is instant PvP games such as Marvel vs Capcom and Dust 514.

Let me show you what I would allow to be displayed if I were to play EVE "in the cloud": No chats, no system name, no fit, no overview, no evemails, no market window, no corphangar, no inventory. In short, ****-all.
As I said, you really do not know what I'm talking about when you're talking about security, because in EVE there's a ****tonne more than just the login info, it's also strategic/tactical/market data. You'd basically be left with nothing to watch, because the rest would be sensitive data.
It would've been better in literally any other game, but you can just forget doing this in EVE, where spying is a major part of gameplay.

This wasn't a debate about cloud gaming...this was a question about when CCP might enlist distrubtion help. Should have guessed everyone turns into foaming at the mouth anti cloud gaming techies. Feel free to weight in on the pros and cons of cloud gaming...once you have used it!

Who the **** made this solely about cloud gaming? Did you even read what I wrote?
I'm not sure how I can write it out any simpler, but I'll put it in italics and bold to make it stand out so you can read it better: spying in eve is a big business, and being able to see what other eve players do would be a huge boon.
This takes care of your "free advertising". I'd rather stab myself in the eyes than have god knows who peek over what I'm trading in, reading my evemail, watching our fleet composition etc.
EVE is set in a harsh universe, and you either quite simply haven't grasped that, or you're trying to get CCP to make spying easier. Neither of the scenarios change the fact that this is a terrible idea, and I haven't even begun talking about how using onlive is yet another thing that can go wrong, can lag, etc, and when that happens in the middle of a fight, **** goes pop.
But sure, go play eve on onlive and I'd make it my life's mission to seek out every one of them and use their public information against them as hard as I could. It would essentially be a goonswarm buff.
Go on, do it. I dare you.
