I'll start by saying I have no idea how far this will actually go (if anywhere), but here's the pitch:
The general idea is to combine the primary functions of EVEmon & EFT (including using EVE-Central data) into a web-based platform and then allow sharing of individual plans and loadouts. It should integrate (where possible) and allow imports/exports from all of the current popular eve programs/sites.
Primarily it will be a planning tool. ôCharacter Sheetö functionality will be an added bonus as the information is already required for the primary functionality (I may start with the source for "Out of EVE" for this - after talking to the developer, of course). Duplicating other functionality (like eveboard) is not the plan (e.g. no fun statistics, characters for sale, etc).
In the long run it would also include all/some of the following:
- Enhanced market functionality (trend watching, etc.)
- POS loadouts / POS tracking
- Research and Production Tracking/Planning based on skills and market data
- Mining and Refining Calculations based on skills and market data
- Planetary Interaction Tracking/Planning (if thereÆs anything actually useful to track)
But the initial functionality will already be a pretty big task, so no promises.
Primary Requirements:
- The application will be hosted on a Linux server
- All facets of the application must be accessible via any web browser on any operating system, including mobile platforms such as Android and iOS
- The application must allow the user to keep any/all information private
I'm just starting with some requirements/high level design at this point and I have no idea if I even have the skills to code most of it myself. I'd sure like to try though and just wanted to check in to see if anyone is already working on something similar and/or interested in working on something like this.
Basically, I can't live without EVEMon and EFT, but I bounce around between so many computers and operating systems that I desperately want them to be web based. |

Need any help or are you working solo? |

Edited by: Jesterspet on 01/04/2011 19:03:05 It's part of a project that I am working on that will do a hell of alot more than just EFT etc. It's an entire suite of modules and it's a pain to do solo. I've knocked out a prototype in a system called FileMaker and working now on porting it over to PHP, so yeah, I'm always looking for help. Send me a mail in game and we can talk.

From what I read here I can't wait for the demo - do you need any beta testers
Have you considered adding corp management functionalilty like interogating corp wallets, stat's on revenue from mission reward, POS research, bounties, top revenue earner, expenses etc? How about a corp recruitment and interview tool for pulling up corp applicant data and checks etc?
Just an idea

EDIT: oh and I'm kinda waiting for eve to implement all the new API key changes before beginning.

Edited by: Jesterspet on 05/04/2011 07:42:52 The functionality that i have curretnly built into my personal system does what Symon is looking for and:
- Charted reports on where my money is spent, revenue streams both personal and corp.
- Fuel tracking in the pos module by pulling api assets and grouping a pos with modules in the vicinty, then i flag which are online and which are offline
- pulls the current production and research jobs from the API and based on character skills, tells me how many of each slots the characters have available
- pulls personal and corp inventories for minerals and other materials, then gives me warnings based on the levels of those minerals so that I know when i am running low
- tracks costs of invention, including decrypter if i use one and adds that to the total cost for a production run involving that bpc
- allows me to upload XML data from the market to input material and item costs
- tracks skill training for each of my characters and allows me to build training ques with completion times, skill point amounts
- Mining outputs based on skills from the api
- Refining outputs based on skills and selectable locations
- pulls from the uploaded XML and tells me if the cheapest price for any given material I am using in a production run can be purchased in a different location than what I have set as default. i.e. when my default is Jita and I have prices for dodixie loaded, it will tell me that Pyer/trit is cheaper there in sufficient quantity for my production
- calculates perfect ME and PE for blueprints, research times for perfect levels, material use and waste for user input levels (think http://zofu.no-ip.de/bpo)
- compares prices on producable materials vs purchasing on the market and notifies which is cheaper to use (think building capital parts vs buying capital parts)
- Shows me a bpo's value based on the market base + research time costs based on a user input or by selecting which pos it's researched at and using the per hour cost from that pos
- shows me a bpc's value based on copy time and research cost
- pulls a report based on uploaded XML where sell orders are greater than buy orders within that region
- has a shopping cart functionality based on several things: How many runs of a print I want to produce, the ME of the print etc. subtracts my current inventory then adds those materials to the cart for however many items I want to produce. This allows me to say, select 20 runs of Pirahna fury light missile, 10 runs of Vengeance, 5 runs of Drake, have it reduce my inventory materials and then show me what I need to purchase when I go to Jita, the volume of the materials i need to buy, while also saving the total paterials so that i can see what quantities I need to pull out when I get back to the hangar
- Shows me the total value of my assets, including calculated bpo/bpc prices.
- Shows me the volume and prices for assets (instance: i have 500k barrage s, so the volume it takes and the market value.
As far as wallet tracking goes, it tracks both peronal and corp wallets, provides break downs on expenditures, income from sales, income from members and charts these details so i can see where money is going and where it's coming in.
I'll work in some PI stuff, but right now I don't do very much of it so it hasnt been my focus.
There's more that it does but since i am not only running low on char counts, and I'm tired, i'll leave those abilities out for teh time being

Right now the system is built in a stand alone application. I will want to actually implement this as a website with a hell of alot more functionality that I have cooked up. I dont have the ability nor the time to build all this out in PHP/AJAX/et al so I will be looking for coders to come in and work on teh project.
However, due to the amount of work that is going to go into this, I will most likely monetize it (isk based) for varying levels of functionality and sell ad space for ingame corps etc. I'm broke atm so coders would be reimbursed with ownership shares for profit sharing.

I would do that quite yet. I had started moving some of my fits over then suddenly *poof* gone. Then issues logging in and again fittings went *poof* so I use when I don't have EFT but EFT still the winner.
I like the idea of a web based EVEMon & EFT, especially for work and because EVEMon does not work on Linux :)
I will keep checking back here every so often in the hopes this project succeeds!
