I know a lot of people here have been blindsided by necro threads and locked threads, but here is a real serious post.
By CCP Guard, in a new dev blog.
"People have been on summer vacations and we've been looking at the ideas we have for the coming months and prioritizing the ones we like best and think we can complete in time. So news of upcoming features will start to emerge as soon as the devs have had time to arrange more of the details. And we'll bring you In Development videos with more info about the future real soon too ;). Ttue there's been little news, but that will change.
Oh, and get a ticket to EVE Vegas! It'll be awesome."
Been hoping to hear what the new expansion will cover for awhile, and now is the time to be rude and just shout our ideas randomly. I will not be voting in the CSM election, so you need to go vote to make up for me. |

See perfect, they are rebalancing the ships and surely a CCP team can see how easily it is to stick a chicken launcher on a new revamped missile frigate.
I am secretly hoping they add more spodumain to null sec grav and mining sites. A whole endless supply of precious spodumain. I will not be voting in the CSM election, so you need to go vote to make up for me. |

Oops forgot to mention, that it was in the comment section for it.
Also to make my thread feel more like a real thread.
Han's blog
Han's has a new blog going over how the new winter expansion is created and the process for it. He also said, not to do this thread, but its too late. I will not be voting in the CSM election, so you need to go vote to make up for me. |

Ugh, you are too sharp frying, I should have gone to Darius III's blog to find out a way to get chicken launchers into the game.
I need more practice with meta gaming. I will not be voting in the CSM election, so you need to go vote to make up for me. |

I need more practice with meta gaming. Darius III is a whole different kettle of fish, as scamming votes is legal but rumors are against forum rules. Which rule wins?
If you are using rumors about other CSM members to scam votes for your self or just rumor mongering to lose them votes in order to not need as many your self. You are breaking the Forum rules but not the CSM election rules.
Or does this just mean that CCP now needs to drop the whole the forums are part of the game bit, as the rumor rule really gets in the way of meta gaming?
But anyway back to the important features of the game. A chicken launcher. Any Spelling, gramatical and literary errors made by me are included free of charge.

And since what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas... it becomes concentrated Awesome, which yields 5% more awesome when viewed compared to just normal Awesome. In the cat-and-mouse game that is low sec, there is no shame in learning to be a better mouse. |

So, what is productive about setting a target date first(Winter 2012) and then deciding what to put in it?
Seems like the kind of thinking that leads us to promises of :iteration: that are almost never fulfilled, no one want to be stuck finishing the old ****.
How about you either adopt agile development fully (implementing features piecemeal overtime instead of within 2 months out of 6) or you fully adopt waterfall development(Decide what features you want and set release dates based on the content, not the summer/winter equinox).
I know marketing likes to be able to bundle things together with a shiny name, but it really is not conducive to the type of game eve is. Smaller updates should be things that are release bi-weekly or such with bigger features arriving as they are completed.
This hybrid of agile/waterfall you have going seems to be taking away the benefits of both leaving only the negatives. -áFREE Iamien !!!!! |

It's my understanding that these next few months are an intentional break from the pattern we've seen as of the last couple expansions. Dust throws a ripple in everything, but I think the plan is to get back to smaller, more frequent releases once the Winter expansion is out. Vice Secretary of the 7th Council of Stellar Management.

Edit: I think I have the answer to "You know you play EvE online to much when?" The answer of course being, that you would be perfectly happy to fly a Battleship into null just so you could fire chickens at gate pirates, cackling the whole time. Who cares?
Meta-developing is worse than meta-gaming.
Just write some code and put some awesome in it (and test it) and go from there...
I find that without a good mob to provide one for them, most people would have no mentality at all. |
