Hello, is there any ship that gives a buff to shield recharge rate?? Have you seen any good loadouts that have insane shield recharge rate making them very difficult to die and having a lot of free cap to use Signature removed for being not EVE related. Zymurgist |

Don't try to focus on shield recharge to tank for you, only a handful of ships do it fairly well and regardless of whether it's for pve or pvp the ships that passive tank are better off fitting a different type of tank. |

Hurricane:
2x LSE II 1x LSE (or a 3rd LSE II if you can make it fit) 6x Shield Power Relay II 3x Medium Core Defense Field Purger
Plug it into EFT and see what you get, it's pretty obscene and you give up all your med/low slots for shield regen, but it's crazy what you can get.

A ship with high shield recharge rate is going to have shield power relays in low. Shield power relays reduce capacitor recharge rate. So no, you're not going to get a passive shield tanker with lots of spare capacitor to play with. No laser Drake for you!

Edited by: Flex Nebura on 03/04/2011 02:17:16 you will either have to buffer tank it or active tank it to have any sort of cap available.
Well actually I have a Navy domi that sorta fits the bill... pretty decent regen tank and 6 pulse lasers.. wont last forever.. but havent tried it with artillery as it was supposed to be a low maintenance concept ship where I wouldnt have to spend isk to do damage...

Yesterday I tried to build a super tanky NightHawk in EFT, and with 5 x SPR II in LOW slots (I decided against fitting a DC II), the think wasn't cap-stable running a few Invulns!
Of course a normal fit is much more reasonable. On a Drake or NH, you'd fit 1-3 SPR II, maybe 1 DC, and the rest BCS. I was going for a sort of "rat bait" ship for my alt, though, one to gait in first and take all the aggro. (Maybe I should look into a active permatanked Navy Scorpion instead?)
To the OP: Note that it's not just about shield regen, but also about shield resists. If you can halve incoming DPS, then that's as good as if your shield regenerated twice as fast.

Use shield res amplifiers. If you are using a NH for pure tank, the mission probably has neuting towers in it.

Gallente does best at recharge rate only.
Myrm gets over 500 recharge at peak, with t2 relays and extenders and t1 rigs. It can be useful I guess, but its not THAT useful. Most of the time you want resists, and that mostly means switching at least some of the raw hp gain for PDUs to keep things running.

rattlesnake can do about 830 shield recharge per second without implants or fleet boosters but with t2 purger rigs. You'll only have 25% em resist but still it's a lot of shield recharge. And no - you can't solo incursions even with that recharge.

As has been said, your cap will be killed by the SPR in the lows, not good if you got some big distances to travel..
I had a Gila fitted for max tank, met a 100+ au warp and the cap was empty.. Had to offline the sprs therefore my tank to get enough cap to continue my warp..
Remeber that when your fit shows your 32% stable..

Play around with a Claymore, it has quite a decent passive omnitank.

The Iteron MK V can get from 0% to 100% in 13seconds! More practical are the Dominix, Rattlesnake & Mymidon. Rattlesnake is perhaps the best being able to tank well in the 1000's of DPS and still do decent damage output.

Edited by: Mavnas on 04/04/2011 05:15:22 Noctis has a pretty ridiculous recharge rate too. Too bad it's not all that useful for anything.
edit: the it in the previous sentence being the crazy recharge, not the ship itself.
