In space, everyone uses the YC (Yoiul Conference) time, or Eden Standard Time. It is 113 years since YC.
I would assume that different empires have different ways of keeping time - the Amarr might well be currently telling that it is the third year of Empress Jamyl I reign.
Real time to in-game YC to in-game AD (or CE, if you wish) is: Real time 1898 = YC 0 = AD 23236
Ingame YC = real year - 1898 Ingame AD = real year + 21338
It is now 2011 = YC 113 = AD 23349

Edited by: Koronakesh on 06/04/2011 14:14:11 This kind of question is open to interpretation, since there isn't much specific calendar information put out about what each nation uses. There are probably religious orders in the Empire who count from when Dano Gheinok first canonized the Imperial religion in 8000, which would bring the current year to 15349 by their measure. I've always preferred using the first year of the reign of the first Emperor, Amash Akura, as the starting point for the Imperial calendar, which would bring us to the year 6879 of the Blessed Empire. This also meshes well with the Ametat and Avetat chron excerpted from the Epitoth, some of the oldest Scripture available, which "dates more than 6000 years back".
Edit: Here you'll hit an unfortunate timeline discrepancy, since the Epitoth scriptures are so old, but the timeline section of Amarr says the Udorians arrive about 2 and 1/2 thousand years after the Emperor was crowned, though Ametat and Avetat specifically state it was in the Emperor's 10th year of reigning. Obviously, the Epitoth couldn't have been written about an even that wasn't supposed to happen for another 2 and a half millenia, so I'm inclined to favor the chronicle's timeline over the other.
