moons - the single biggest ISK generator for null sec alliances.
If you really want to create change in null its time to make the moons out there a depletable resource.
the implementation of PI leads me to believe the capacity is there.
its time CCP - make it happen.

I would rather have them static , but would require at least a little acticity to mine (like PI for example ) could be disrupted , and could increase yield with some effort .
Just revamp moon mining for something more interesting.

No, adding more grind and mouseclicks to this game won't make it better or funnier, it will only make it more frustrating.

Certainly won't happen in the near term.
The new CSM might be able to make this happen, but look who is in it.
Are they interested in whats good for the game or whats best for their wallets/blues?

Actually the tears from dynamically shifting moon goo would be awesome.

Making moon goo dynamic would certainly create tears. Having to take down a pos and resituate it every so often would create so much pew pew advantages in certain areas, particularly low sec. Unfortunately its all the big 0.0 alliances that are mining the fields there for their goo and they most certainly would never want such a redistribution of possible wealth happening.
But its one of the most stable and oldest and largest isk income faucets in the game that require next to NO input once set up and done and can really only be taken down by a large "alliance" level cap fleet. The things most newer corps/alliances simply cannot field in any significant amounts to change. And even if they do how easy is it for the offending new tower to simply be taken out in retaliation.
It simply allows for the massive wallets of larger established alliances period.
Creating some sort of PI like dynamic to it where one must either allow the moon to lay "fallow" or dormant for a season or to change the POS position would create much tears and much pew if done right. Ideal ganktime unless your transports are defended.

My idea:
Pos on good moon. Kill pos on the moon. Get titan DD moon That moon now produces other things and the good thing gets moved somewhere else. While there at it they can change Outposts so you can blow them up too...... ---------------------------------------------- I fail At forums ٩๏̯͡๏)۶ |

Edited by: Viule Sawyr on 06/04/2011 12:25:49 After setting up my first POS, I wouldn't want anyone to have to go through that hassle over and over again on a single moon. Yet static moon goo seems to be the defining power in null sec allowing power houses to pretty much take what they want and hold it for the most part with little threat.
I think some space should always be better than other space, to give a reason for others to want to move into that space and kick the current group out. Yet how do you do this with out boring people to tears with the grunt work?
I think maybe there should be more input required on a moon mining POS like with PI as the income from the moons is far to much to make it as passive as it is now. Yet how do you do this and not make it another grind job?
On the flip side, there really should be sort of a "gold rush" in EVE. I say there should always be nice static moons that are always going to be better than others with better hot spots in terms of PI for example. (yet they should require some fiddling to mine at max yield)
Yet, I also feel there should be random deposits of moon goo showing up for limited time on various moons. This way, smaller on the ball groups can take advantage of them. These deposits should not be static and should require searching for, but should also eventually run out.
EVE needs a way for smaller groups to try and go it alone, with out having to kiss the ass of the power blocks. We need more groups with the ability to launch guerrilla warfare with the ISK backing to keep it up, while holding no space. (lets face it soon as they grabbed some space, the power block would squash them) To do this they need access to ISK at better levels than having their members running LVL4's or ninja'n sanctums.
Needs to be a better way to spread the moon goo wealth than the current overload monopoly. Besides that null sec is currently far to care bearish, I mean hell it's almost safer than high sec in most alliance space. ------------------------

repeating what i said
- Make moon gold dynamic, make it change monthly and some have a percent chance of not moving, thus allowing everyone a chance to make some isk, yes even small corps or alliances as they may stumble on a lucky unfound moon for a month and make it much more fairer for everyone.

You can't change it around like that. POS work is already too much grind and lets not forget this is a "game" not a job. There should always be static moons that produce various types of goo, yet it should require some fine tuning to keep at max yield.
You can't simply just pull the plug every month, it's far too much work and would not make the game very fun. The fact is there should be some space that is always better than other space. Yet as I mentioned there should be random hot spots showing up else where that others can take advantage of as the game would be much more interesting if their wasn't such a ISK monopoly in regards to moon gold. ------------------------

You're missing the point. The change would not mean you'd have to tear down your POS every month. It would simply mean that your POS mines different material every month. It creates a dynamic in the supply to the market because now the supply can come from multiple factions instead of just one powerblock that holds the majority of the moons.
Obviously the powerblocks with Tech moons won't like it, but they will just have to suck it up. Any game is fun as long as you hold all the advantages...

Have moon resources deplete by 10% per week (or partial week) that it's mined. Allow it to replenish at the same rate for every week it lies "fallow". This would put some though requirements into the process... you'd have to determine if you want to suck a moon dry and move on, or pace yourself with a week on/ week off type of cycle to keep a fairly steady supply of materials.

fanfest 2010 a time when ccp promised comets with moon goo within them in wormhole space and 00 high sec and low sec. Such a time also had tech 3 mods frigates and destroyers.
Where did these features go ( comets would have fixed the moon issue) they could have also shifted to random moon go or a more dynamic system in conjuction with the comets
Alas we got incursions which was a load of well anyway

if thats what it takes. If it made losses mean something then thats a bonus.
shifting resources brings about the possibility that alliance A deploys 10 titans and supers to hold a moon while POS goes up whilst simultaneously alliance B does the same thing.
Pew pew ensues - what can be bad about that?

Its called the Twilight MMO.You'll be hardpressed to find any major game development happening to EVE unless it is something that helps Twilight Online.
Full bodied avatars/Incarna = makes Twilight faster as you can reuse code
T3 ships and rebalanced moon goo = doesn't make Twilight any faster ...Then when you stopped to think about it. All you really said was Lalala. |

Yea, because people already actively just throw themselves into PVP thinking little of risk.. Umm have you tried PVPing lately? Ships as cheap as they are already and people scatter like Cockroaches when you try to Pew Pew them even when they out number you..They only come back when it's 10 to 1 odds and this is "normal" these days.
Think what they would do if their average ship cost 500 mil. Not to mention I like to PVP, not spend all my time grinding ISK to buy ships & mods. Bring on the bots and moon goo, what ever it takes to keep ships affordable to actually PVP for those few that still do something out side the safety net of 500 man blobs and hoards of neutral RR alts.

The game existed and survived quite nicely when that was the cost on DCIIs.
You can address this cost increase by increasing the drop rates on meta3&4 items, you can have a new tier of faction gear awarded by LP stores that have the same skill requirements of Tech2.
Price increase on DCIIs (or other tech2) is NOT a deal breaker.
Moon mining is a bit broken, and alchemy didn't fix it. Using Technitium to incentivise invading the north did not work. CCP has simply underestimated the strength of the Alliance Blocks. Most 0.0 players are more interested in stability and knowing they're making assloads of isk than in fighting over space.
Despite the PVP rhetoric, the number of people who really want to go into prolonged and sustained 0.0 wars is actually quite small. The number of people who want to do it and have the economic resources to do it is miniscule.
Some kind of dynamism in moon goo is probably a good stimulus, but issues like POS set-up time (and it is a horrible chore) and the sheer tedium of scanning many moons on an ongoing basis are pretty awful. Those have to be addressed and a balance found between the current one-time effort and a monthly effort (which would break most souls - if you doubt me, go scan a a single constellation in 0.0 space and tell me when you're done if you're really prepared to do that once a month).
