Please, oh please, oh please I beg, import the "old" forum content _AND_ update any forum url links they contain.
As a frequent poster (#138 ), let me also state that I really dislike the new forums. Not only are they extremely slow to scroll for me (yes, I have forum lag), but the colour scheme is really ugly. I like the darker colour and contrast of the the "old" forums. It is much easier on my old eyes.

This means I am going to have to repost all my critiques of the new forums to the new forums when they are once again the new forums, doesn't it. How will I remember all the really good snarky bits? Waaahhhhh!!!!
Just kidding. Visually they were nice eye candy, and after much flaming people would probably settle down and begin to like them. They just had some technical flaws (that apparently went beyond what we users saw) and were missing functionality still available in the old forums. The dangers of canned code, I suppose. It did feel like the devs might be getting caught in the geek candy trap, where it looks really cool, but doesn't really work, but looks really, really cool ... no, really, really, really cool. Not that I have ever had to deal with that situation or anything. And I've certainly never beat someone upside the head with a copy of Section 508 about it or anything.
Only posting because it is boring not being able to lurk in the flames of the new forums.

i would like the idiots responsible for that other forum paraded across youtube apoplogizing as they are doused in glue, sprayed with feathers, and set adrift on an ice floe to be recovered soonTM.
i don't think that they should be fired, just humiliated. that way when they walk into a room they'll remind everyone there that you really shouldn't release something until it's done.

Because accepting failure in... Dominion (new sov system, fleet combat), Tyrannis (PI, Eve Gate) and Incursion (more PI, Forums) has been working out so well?
Although, to be fair, watching the epic fail that is the new forums has been a lot more entertaining than actually playing Eve. It's given me hope that Incarna will have worth after all. If the new forums can be this entertaining after only having 30 guys working on them for a year (or whatever it is, that number was quoted somewhere but seems absurdly high) just imagine how awesome the Incarna failure will be after 5 years and 100 developers... Followed up somewhat rapidly by the Dust failure (how many dev years is that, I wonder?)
Edit: I still wuv you CCP.
Will cease posting drunk now.

Everyone that only whined and didn't actually do something (as in cancel their accounts) after those failures effectively accepted them. But that's not the issue. The game attracts people with high frustration tolerance, but CCP has been stretching it too for quite some time now. ________________________ CCP: Where fixing bugs is a luxury, not an obligation. |

Yes Yes Yes! Please for the love of god just forget the "new" forums. The old ones are bad, but not nearly as bad as the "new" ones. They are just plain hard to read! I'm not sure if it's the font or the color scheme, or the fact that even 1-line responses take up a huge amount of real estate because of the larger avatar, but the old ones are much better.
Now if the new forums had the basic functionality of any standard forum software (keeping track of the last read post for any given user, for example) I'd be more willing to give them a chance.
As it stands they're just terrible.
Save yourself the debugging and just keep these. Nobody gives a rat's tail about being able to "like" a post or what-not.

Humor, it helps as a stress relief. You should try it some time.
Before the flames come, yes I take this very serious and that is the reason I will also continue to make poor jokes about it. I also changed my Password, checked my account; nothing missing, or looking compromised, got myself a coffee and hope CCP will sort this out soon.
The new forums looked nice and were okay from a layout, the only thing I disliked were white letters against a grey background, which is more tiring to the eye, but the same can be said about the old forums.
I guess I am a not-so-bitter vet with 5 years of playing EVE.

I have to admit as someone who likes to try out new features in eve (on sisi) and give feedback to help improove eve I didn't check out the test forums.... I mean how badly can you screw up internet forums....
Oh... thats how.
Will post with specific feedback next time they publicly "test" the new forums so I can see them and get my head around all the things that need fixing. __________________________________________________

Good luck on that front many people tested them the first time and we got a handful of fixes that would have taken anyone mildly competent a day to do with time to spare.

The new forums were such an epic fail in regards of security, that they gave the old ones back to us while they go back to the drawing board with the new ones :D
This is true, I refrain from linking certain other sites where its reported what happened, in fear of repercussions from CCP. They banned enough many people as is, and I don't expect them to act in an adult manner about this. The new forums were a ****-up of epic proportions.

Then make BFF2 all-female, and turn fixing internet spaceships into a battle of the sexes. If the men of BFF1 win, the Incarna art team will spend a dev cycle designing sunglasses and guns. If the women of BFF2 win, clothes and makeup.
