hi guys, i have access to level 4 agents for minedrill corp but they dont have a research agent.. i dont even know what they are but i have heard people mentioning them just wanna know what they are and do i get them the same way i did for my current level 4 agent? and are these the ones that give out bpos? or is that just LP rewards? and if so can get you get bpo's from any agent by trading in your LP's and tags or whatever, or just ones that work for specific coperations?
any feedback will be appricaited...

ok here we go ....
research agents are restricted to about 3 corporations for each of the 4 main factions for caldari it's Ishukone, Kaalakiota and Laidai to use a research agent you need a high enough standing in the same way as an ordinary agent
each RnD agent has a different set of skills that affect what tech 2 blueprints they may give out to start research you need one of these skills at level one you do not need the same level as the agent to start research once you have decided on your skill and agent, talk to the agent and ask to begin research in that field your agent will begin accumulating Research Points according to the following formula:
([YOUR SKILL LEVEL + AGENT SKILL LEVEL]^2 ) x (1+ [agent effective quality/100])
a day later your agent will send you a mail asking you to do an agent mission ignore it by not doing RnD agent mission each day you lose something like 40% of the RP you should get according to the formula
do not listen to anyone like Joshua Clavert telling you that people who religiously do the RnD missions should be guaranteed a blueprint because they sank a load of money into buyin homeless or something equaly rediculous
now that you've started research all you have to do is wait
every so often someone, somewhere presses a button that releases tech 2 blueprints into the system what happens next we don't know and will probably never know this scares some and angers many in theory the more RPs you've collected the better chance you have of receiving a blueprint it's determined randomly
according to Oveur:
Quote: ... there are not 20,000 people doing research. More like 7,000 where of 25% have less than 2000 RP. Current drop rate is about 12 BPO's a day.
note that you may never get a blueprint ... that's the way it is once you've had a taste of research you might want to start using multiple research agents to do this requires the skill Research Project Management that will enable the use of 1 extra RnD agent per level you can start research of the same field with different agents but you cannot start multiple research projects with the same agent
hope all that helps ... __________________________________________

yeah it helps alot one last question though if i train up skills required and get a research agent will it last long or will eventually the supply of bpos reasearch agents give out stop and research agents become useless?

don't listen to people like this guy either ... just accept that you may get a blueprint or you may not
i'd say it's still worth starting research ... there's plently of tech 2 still to be released and the Developers will probably using the same system for tech 3
either way RPs aren't going to become spontaneously worthless or anything

No they wont, afaik they already posted the current systems is horrible and that tech3 will be done right.
I know people who got 12 fricking BPOs from their 6 agents. 12! Where most of us get 0! 12 i tell you!
AAAAAAARRRRGGGHHHHHH i hope my agents burn! ---------------------------

In reference to how things should drop, and possibility of changes for the vaporware tech 3: As everyone is constantly reminding everyone else...the programmers and the devs are two different departments, and IMO the project manager needs to pull his head out of his fourth point of contact. What the devs want and when they want it is very different from what the programmers can code and when they can implement. So the devs may have asked for bpos to drop a certain number of times per day and said try to instill some equality in the thing, but what the code actually ends up doing...well we see the result. To get back closer to the topic, the second poster did a good job of answering the questions... my suggestion is make sure your connections skill is at least 4 (which it likely is if you are running lvl 4 agents) then run a mission or two for the corp you want to use the R*D agent for. If you don't want to shell out 40 million for the research project manager skill, make sure you have the right agent in the beginning.(made that mistake, had to sacrifice 8k rp)

Dont recall, i recall something along the lines of "We are aware of the imperfections with the current tech 2 systems and tech 3 will not use this system" or something like that.
Using the same completly ****** system they have now for tech 3 would be a Bad, VERY bad idea. ---------------------------

Ok based on what oveur said 7000 people doing research and about 75% of them having over 2000 rp, and 12 bpo drops a day, so that makes about 5250 people available to be lucky enough to get a bpo. so that says 1 out of 437 people a day will receive a bpo. ok groovey, now i know someone who has 19k rp on 2 agents and has not received squat save for a long time ago, like 3-4 mths ago, for a 75mm t2 rail gun. she wanted to keep doing research so she passed the offer up. and hasnt heard from the agents since. now as far as i am concerned i think the whole randomization of bpo drops sux, cause that means that rp are useless. here is my suggestion on how to do bpo distribution. why not make a list of all bpo you can trade out for, with that agent you want to trade with, for the amount of rp you have acrued? same thing as agent offers. i mean you could control distribution of t2 stuff just like agents control the distribution of faction stuff.

Tokka i accept or i wouldent do agent mission would i. And i just rofl that it was 12 i thought it was like 3 or 5 ever now and then.
Still i agree with the other post about some seem to have magetic stons of geting BPOs and some dont :) Is Rep taken in account anything during the hand out or is it ok today or is ever RP point marked with a # and everday when on of the devs hit a button its say ok today the winner is 46266225 and that rp point is owned by XXXXX.

like i said in my 6th paragraph
Quote: what happens next we don't know and will probably never know this scares some and angers many
i remember a dev saying that information about the algorithm used to distribute the blueprints will never be available to players __________________________________________
