Edited by: Rex Di''io on 11/04/2011 19:45:57 You know, since so many people want to complain about it, I say CCP do what the Developers of Runescape did to their version of unsanctioned PvP(AKA The Wilderness)
Just get rid of it, who needs unsanctioned PvP anyway.

Better to make all non trade hub systems null sec, that way there'll be less fighting for space and we can all be happy carebears.

Edited by: LHA Tarawa on 11/04/2011 20:04:31 Here is a suggestion.
How about there be multiple tiers of space.
High sec where it is relativly, but not perfectly safe, so those that have no interest in PVP can play the game they want.
Low sec where it is pretty easy to defeat things like gate guns and sec status hits. People interested in PVP but not interested in things like warp interdiction bubbles can hang out here.
NPC 0.0 where you can kill without any sec status hit, can use warp bubbles, bombs, and the like, but still get agents and NPC stations. Let's say, no cyno jammers, no jump bridge networks...
Soverign 0.0 where you can claim soverienty. Allow people to put up things like cyno jammers and jump bridge networks. Let's get rid of the carebear lovin' NPC stations, agents, and some such but have outposts that the corp that has soverienty can control.
Then, we could even do wormholes. Let's say you had to probe down the entrances, the entrances move, there are limits on how big of ships can get in and out, how many ships before the wormhole collapses and respawns somewhere else. Just for "something different" let's get rid of local so people have to have alts cloaked up at the entrances so they can hear wormhole activations, and so they can get carpel tunnel clicking the dscan. This space should have no stations or outposts at all, that way people could experience these as day trips or learn how to live out of a POS.

I was imagining more of an unstoppable tide of arty abaddons and maelstroms, sweeping from one end to the other, obliterating everything in it's path.
I don't know what's funnier: hundreds of battleships landing in a mission room from an accel gate and ganking pimp ships, or the immense amount of whine it would generate on the forums.

Making all of EVE 0.0 sec would be great at making EVE a true Darwinian game. Weeding out the weak, removing the light hearted. Of course the weakest of all would prove to be CCP because they wouldn't survive an all 0.0 sec EVE. It's easy for CCP, CSRs and Devs to talk smack when you hold a visible upper hand. It's like NC kicking around some half assembled alliance of 300 people. Us being that half assembled alliance of 300K, CCP being NC.
Null sec as it is might work if there was less corruption. You can say that it's Sandbox and open and the corruption is part of that but in true Sandbox, corps would have the benefit of tearing down broken mechanics and making systems that work. This being a game of parameters and mechanics, that is not an option. You can't improve the mechanics yourself.
The concept of EVE is "Dont fly what you can't afford to lose" where it should and really is actually Don't fly what you can't afford to replace. Corps and alliances allow us to pool and replace. If I lose a Carrier in a fleet battle, the corp can have a carrier there to repalce my war loss Carrier. Insert corruption. As a Corp and an Alliance grows, the number of replacement assets become a magnet for thieves and right now there is no way to pool and distribute the replacement assets without exposing them to said thieves.
CCP continue to look for mechanical ways to improve battle systems, they have not looked at the way we facilitate those battles since EVE was born and it is at the core of 0.0 sec combat. |

So, your argument is, anyone not interested in hard-core PVP should leve EVE for other games.
It seems you do want 80% of EVE players to quit.
Noted for future refernce.
I doubt your argument will be particularly persuasive with CCP.
Tell me, how will EVE be more fun for you if CCP is bankrupt because their subscriber base fell 80%?
The only thing I am sure of is that you can not force people to play the way you want them to play. If you push too hard, they will just quit.
You would be better off figuring out how to PVP against people with interest in PVP and ignoring those with no interest in PVP, than wasting time trying to figure out how to force people with no interest in PVP into being your easy target.

So the carebears join npc corps or form 300K corps of 1?
Suicide ganks? Becasue Hulkageddon has been so effective... not!
Wait, what is the goal again? Bankrupt CCP by forcing 80% of the player base to quit? If so, I do not think your goals match CCP's.

So, CNR-Mach-ageddon?
Would be every bit is ineffective as Hulkegeddon.
Gankers can't sustain enough sec status hits to make a dent in the 80% of players that make high sec their home and you can't force people to stay in the corps that you war dec.
I doubt you will see CNR-Mach-ageddon as there are no CNR and Mach BPOs to make people want to pay for their destruction to fuel demand.

If you all want to make high sec a battle field then what's stopping you? If its one thing about eve its that you can do what ever you want. Let's start a corp and start declaring war on everyone. Join or be destroyed ;-) |

Chill dude, it was a joke. The OP said:
Quote: Just get rid of it, who needs unsanctioned PvP anyway.
So I was suggesting that we use sanctioned pvp - declaration of war - to turn all of Empire into a ****storm.
And, if we burn Empire to the ground and EVE asplodes, maybe CCP will GIMME MAH SANCTUMS BACK.
lol.

So you spend billions on war decs against corps with 1 player each as all the carebears move to NPC corps.
You can't sustain the sec status hits that come with a prolonged high sec gankfest nor can you force players to stay in war-dec'ed player run corps.
The game mechanics are designed to prevent players from doing exactly what you suggest.. forcing all players with no interest in PVP into quitting the game.
It is almost as if CCP wants both players that want to PVP AND player that have no interest in PVP.
If 80% of players lived in null or low sec, you may have a chance of getting CCP to change the game mechanics so that you can force non-PVPers out of the game. However, 80% of CCP's revenue comes from people that live in high sec (well, 80% of toons start their game session in high sec but a lot of those could be Jita alts for doing price checks). I do not think you will be able to convince CCP to allow you to force all carebears from the game.

You can not use war decs to turn empire into any kind of storm since you can't stop carebears from moving to NPC corps or just forming new player corps as fast as you war dec.
Originally by: Merrik Talorra

lol.
1) You can't burn empire.
2) CCP won't give you the sanctums back because they were too quickly adding to the wealth and power of the two mega coalitions, creating larger fleet fights than the servers can handle.
CCP needs to break up the super alliances and their mega coalitions if there is any hope of shrinking fleet fights down to managable level.
CCP can't break up the super allainces and mega coalitions because to do so would require they alter human nature.
So, CCP flounders about, flip-flopping directions like a fish out of water.
We need more people into null sec, so make all those empty systems useful... Making all those empty systems useful just filled them up with people paying huge rents to the mega-coalitions, so we have to make them useless again to cut off the flow of funds!
Nerfing high sec and forcing carebears to choose between quitting or joining a mega-coalition is not the solution to CCP's problems.

Nobody can argue with most of what you say, LHA. The problem is it's an argument to a problem that isn't there. CCP aren't forcing us to go to 0.0 sec, EVE is not a pure PvP game and high sec folk are quite welcome to stay in high sec and run missions untill they get bored sick of EVE. Boredom being the seed to most of the complaints in the forums. It's the only MMO that can take you 2 years to fail. |

Now see, here is the pernicious nature of the ******ed social darwinism at it's most mundane. "Darwinian = weeding out the weak, only teh strong survive" herp + derp
Anyone who's done any study can tell you the role of contingency in evolution. Some things live in some places purely because others don't. Twenty grade-schools arrive at a rockpool and strip all the life away as souvenirs. Nothing to do with the fitness of the organisms there, just a logistical error and a schedule messup on a scale that is cosmic to all the little pond life.
tl;dr, you're an idiot and you make everyone who holds similar opinions look bad.
