Greetings capsuleers,
Most of you have seen me around in the role of ex Lead GM Guard, but some of you might also know me as the guy with the hammer in such videos as HTFU. I've recently relocated to the Community team after serving in the Customer Support team for the last 8 years of my life. My new title is that of Community Developer which basically makes me the creative manager of the community team.
Think of me as the ringleader for Le Cirque de EVE, bringing you exciting announcements about whats happening in and out of New Eden. You'll be seeing me a lot on the forums and I'll constantly be on the lookout for all the cool things you're doing: player created content, reviews, articles, videos, get togethers and anything else that's fun and interesting coming from the player community. I want to work with you guys on making fun stuff happen so I'll be very open to ideas and suggestions from you guys, and if you need assistance from the Community team with a project that would benefit the community, I just might be your man. There are three easy ways to contact me: through the forum, via petition or email ([email protected]).
But what kind of person are you, Guard? What makes you tick? Ahh, I'm glad I asked myself that. I'm a gamer obviously. Love shooters and RPGs and of course..EVE! I've played since 2003, I prefer PVP to anything else and I have a small, but proud, collection of corpses in my hangar. I'm also pretty bad at PVP compared to most of you guys so my old clones are probably littered around a few of your hangars. To sustain my ship loss habit I trade on the market and run missions from time to time.
Apart from gaming and the internet, I like to travel, read and fish. Or more accurately perhaps, stand by a river or lake with a fishing pole in my hand while working my tan/sunburn. My fishing isn't that much better than my PVP but I'm learning, and last summer I caught my first salmon! His scaly corpse is dutifully stored in my freezer.
I'm not a Capricorn and I don't like long moonlit walks so I usually just take a taxi home from the pub.
I'm excited about my new role as it means I get to interact with you guys more freely and work for you guys from a different angle than before.
See you around!

Originally by: Abrazzar Community Developer, eh? I hope you have a degree in bioengineering. Or do you go for a fully virtual 1:1 computer emulated community and not a biolological one? Hope to hear from your first co0mmunity prototypes, soon.
p.s. shouldn't it be Le Cirque d'EVE?
I haven't decided yet whether to go for Sansha style mind slavery or simply build an army of fresh clones to post nice things about me on the forums. This is one of those issues where input from the existing community can help in the decision making process.
p.s. Probably it le should :P

Originally by: Zey Nadar Greetings, Guard. May I inquire what brought forth this change in status?
Yes you may.
I've been doing the odd project with the people in Community and PR for a while, and somewhere along the way we were all drawn to each other to a point where there was no turning back. Long story short, I got offered a new position and decided to go for it. Leaving my brothers and sisters in CS wasn't easy after 8 years but they are only on the other side of the wall so I can still wander over when I get the urge. Or maybe I'll just start sending them petitions? Hmm.

All our internal documentation tells me that you are still a GM Lead! I call shenanigans on this!!
P.S. This is a joke.
P.P.S. The joke is documentation.
P.P.P.S. That was also a joke.

It's an old tradition to haze new salmon warriors by peer pressuring them into biting off, and swallowing, the back fin of their first catch. Usually it's chased with some Brennivfn but we only had scotch so I made do with that.
P.s. Don't worry about the fish. It was already in fish heaven when the picture was taken. Or..."swimming with the fishes" as they call it in certain circles.

Sup Guard, Nice to see you here. One thing stood out to me. Your interest in Community Projects. Well... I have a Community project you should get on board with.
See.. My project is, ANY CCP Employee that comes to Maui and lets me know they are here, gets bought a few brews (I Highly reccomend Maui Brewing Company's Coconut Porter), taken around in my old ratty car to see the less well known places to see, and if they, like me are persons interested in tempting our finned friends in the ocean to accept an offering, even get to use my not very used fishing tackle.
~Z
P.S. Did I mention I'd buy a few rounds?
This sounds great.

Seriously though we miss you. The new guys just don't have the same pizazz when they tell someone the thread is locked and the OP has been nuked from orbit.
Hi SmashTech,
I do need to make more time to post and also to visit public channels in-game from time to time. I'm sort of in a transition between EVE and DUST 514, but I'll always be connected with EVE Online and the EVE Community team. So don't worry, I'm not gone. But CCP Guard is overflowing with that pizazz you mentioned, so you're definitely in good hands. We're really glad he's joined us on the Community side of things.
Last thing before I derail Guard's welcome thread any further -- you'll likely see more regular updates from me on Twitter than here on the forums. If you want to follow, I'm @CCP_Shadow

My feelingn is... CCP blogs, and comments belong on the CCP forums, not some third party crap hole filled with idiots like that Twit from Alaska.
P.S. Come to Maui... you know you want to try Coconut Porter! Admit it.
Twitter is just something I started using fairly recently as a way to keep conversations going with people, which has the advantage of being non-obtrusive while I'm at work. You're not missing anything by not being on Twitter as the big announcements are all made on the official EVE-O site, but a few of us (Fallout, Manifest, Zymurgist, and others at CCP) talk a bit with each other and with EVE players on Twitter when we can. Anyway, I'll likely be using it more now that I'm in a different TZ than the rest of the Community team. I'll still be on the forums from time to time just to talk though, so no worries.

Can he do jazz-hands well and/or the entire Thriller dance?
This is important.
Not sure, but we still owe him a hazing and this would do.
