Zapawork GoonWaffe Goonswarm Federation	Posted - 2011.04.13 06:10:00 - [1] We are currently in the final planning stages for what we are calling Eve Vegas 2.0. Eve vegas was last held in 2009 and for those that went was a great time. The original event organizer got to busy to keep it going and is handing over the event so we can keep it going. We are planning a number of suprises and are currently working with CCP to arrange for speakers, the sale of eve merchandise and more. Based on the turn out for the original eve vegas we are hoping to have a turn out of around 200 players looking for a good time and great information about the game and each other. We are looking to hold the event in Las Vegas, Nevada again (hence eve vegas) during either the weekend of July 29-31 or the weekdays of Aug 1-2 to hold the event. With the idea the largest amount of North American players will have vacation time available during this time. If you are interested please reply to this thread with which of the two dates you prefer with the idea that weekends are more expensive in las vegas and weekdays are typically half the cost. More details like agendas, speakers and location will be coming as soon as we lock down the date.

Right now the leading property is the cosmopolitan. http://www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com/ and the dates are July 29-30. I'm still talking to one more property but the cosmopolitan has agreed to initial terms and is willing to bring down their weekend room sprices from $210 to $149 for us. I'm looking at a friday night player reception to meet new people and your alliance/corp mates and a saturday filled with great presenations from devs and players alike. Stay tuned!

Not trying to interfere with your organizing, but have you tried http://www.tuscanylv.com/ I stay there quit a lot, it is off the strip behind Bally's, it has large suites, restuarants, pool etc. It is also $30 per night Sun-Thur and I think $80 per on Fri-Sat. Misha Hi Misha, I would understand if some players wanted to stay there to take advantage of the lower rate but for the venue itself its hard to beat the newest and one of the nicest properties on the strip! I think especially for those who have never been to vegas before and are only doing so with the prospect of being surrounded by other internet spacefriends that having the event off the strip wouldn't get them the full experience.

They've agreed to a $99 a night rate which is a substanial discount and some great convention space for us all to drink up friday night and listen to some great dev and player presentations saturday.

Quoting this for extreme emphasis. Paris Las Vegas is right on the strip and smack-dab in the middle, right across from the Bellagio. Excellent location, and VERY excellent rates.

If you are planning on coming I would encourage you to buy your tickets/reserve your hotel quickly. Also the next random ticket buyer prize is a free suite upgrade!

The 4:00 PM check in time is just TERRIBLE and unheard of in my years in a traveling job with 1000+ hotel stays. Have to get there Friday night and they wont extend the room rate for Friday night. So, I must do one of the following; -Stay somewhere else one night -Pay $177+taxes for one night additional at Paris, -Stay up all night and carry my luggage around; I can get by with a backpack but not the girl coming with me. -Fly in on earliest Saturday morning flight and miss the 1:00PM start time, will still be in the airport...and carry around our stuff until 4:00. I know the airport has lockers but I've only seen them on the departure side of the LV airport. Maybe Paris set the late time for a buffer zone, but if they dont have early check-in I'm making them put my bags behind their counter. I think a weekday event would make it a "NO WAY" for me. Heck I'm Union with 10 years seniority and I still only get 12 days vacation, so thanks SO MUCH for making it a weekend event. Air Tran has flights from Milwaukee for $177 non-stop both friday and saturday 29/30 of July. I didnt really check anywhere else.

I think this should be an annual thing!!! subliminal hint July is a great time of year to do a convention in Vegas - because it will be hot the rates will be lower usually. $100 a night for the Paris is a GREAT rate! Some tips I'd like to pass on as a former Vegas local and someone who worked in Event Planning for years. There should be a locals rate - there is clearly a large number of people attending who are stating they are local. Why not knock off $25 bucks for them. OR You may need convention staff there on the scene - recruit from the locals and tell them they donate x hours manning check in tables etc you will discount their rate. You can also, give a "staff" rate for those willing to donate their time but aren't local. You may want to have the locals or one local plan a bar crawl. There is a different scene for locals than there is for the tourists. If you get off the strip drinks get cheaper wink. Someone mentioned carrying their bags around ? You don't need to do that. Go to the hotel, tell them you are with the convention and check your bags in with the concierge. They will give you a ticket and hold them until you are in your room and call for them. You should tip $1-2 per bag they are holding when they deliver your stuff. My last suggestion is that if this should turn into an annual event I'd be willing to volunteer my time to help on a planning committee to make it happen. All vegas strip hotels will allow you to check bags even if you aren't checking in until the next day. You can do the same thing when checking out if checkout is noon and your flight isn't until 8 or 9.

Hi Jayne, I'm going to contact Paris to see what I can do for people in your situation for the room rate. From a luggage perspective just check in your luggage with the bell hop they will take care of it and you can call for it when you reach your room or pick it up yourself when you want to check in. Paris does offer early check in, but it depends on rooms being ready at the time. They guarantee room availability by 4pm.

You can also, give a "staff" rate for those willing to donate their time but aren't local. You may want to have the locals or one local plan a bar crawl. There is a different scene for locals than there is for the tourists. If you get off the strip drinks get cheaper wink. Someone mentioned carrying their bags around ? You don't need to do that. Go to the hotel, tell them you are with the convention and check your bags in with the concierge. They will give you a ticket and hold them until you are in your room and call for them. You should tip $1-2 per bag they are holding when they deliver your stuff. My last suggestion is that if this should turn into an annual event I'd be willing to volunteer my time to help on a planning committee to make it happen. They don't have the biggest beer selection in the city, but a decent sized one. Not too far from the strip or airport and basically in the middle of the town. Easy to get to from all the freeways and 10 minutes away from any strip casino.
