Most people would say that incursions have been a flop. While the loot can be shiney, only a select few will recieve the nice drops, and the bounties are hardly worth it. Many thought incursions would be the next "end game" content, but it just hasn't taken.
Similar things could be said about WH's, while they are very challenging, and highly profitbale, they are the same grind as anything else and only serve to generate isk. The lack of faction/deadspace mods puts many off.
This has brought me to my idea, A new content type we can for now, call "sub-space WH" Imagine a WH but with an entrance that only exists for about 1 HOUr after opening. Additionally, the system you are taken too is deep beyond k-space/w-space. And getting there/back is difficult.
To help keep things in balance, i'd suggest the following:
No planets: sub-space is not for colonists, let the systems be barren of all POS.
Random Faction type: when you enter WH , it's faction type is chosen at random, it may be serpentis, may be angel, may be drones, who knows.
Dynamic entrtance: as said, when you find the Sub-space WH it activates a 1 hour timer, this means you only have 1 hour to get your fleet together, and get inside. Additionally, give them a mass limit similar to normal WH, deeper the lvl of Subspace, the more can pass through.
Not for dilly-dallying: Make it so that once the entrance collapses, a new exit will NOT spawn unless 1 of 2 things occur: all sites completed, or 16/24 hour timer runs out, then a new WH exit appears.
Each system should contain no more than 2-5 sites, varying in difficulty based on WH lvl, and should be combat oriented (though profession sites are possible) Compare them to DED sites in difficulty and loot, meaning the hgiher class sub-system should be just a bit more difficult than say a maze 10/10
Even though the entrance is dynamic, the system is static like any other WH, meaning that it is completely possible to have an invading WH in the system you are running, or sleeper pirates (players) who have logged cloaked in system.
Similar to a instancing system, this would allow some pilots to engage in High lvl/end game content without worrying quite as much about pirates or ganks. The dynamic entrances would mean that you'd have to get your intel fast and get your people in, and an escalated loot table would give many the incentive they need to go jumping into un-known territories.
I'm sure they could flesh out the idea quite a bit more, let me know what you think.
