Honestly, I'd go with the Myrmidon. In a 'shield-blaster' setup (which is very similar to the 'shield-blaster' Brutix setups here) it can hit out quite far with Null ammo, has a better tank, and can use drones to greatly supplement its DPS.
Plus the Myrm is more flexible when it comes to what guns you can use (as it doesn't get a bonus any specific gun). So if/when you train up another weapon system you can replace the blasters.
+1 I have a shield/blaster/mwd myrm in addition to armor fits, and it will end up doing a tiny bit less damage than a brutix for me but, the ability to deploy 5 med ECM drones and GTFO is nice. While most people fit Autocannons to the myrm I never stopped using hybrids on mine. (though Autocannons will make your ship more versatile tbh even with less damage)
Also I use a blaster Ferox a bit too, don't underestimate caldari blasterboats, the damage isn't as good and the range isn't as good as barrage even using null with your optimal bonus but the damage is quite nice as it is very easy to fit 3 magstabs and a tank on most the caldari ships. Likewise the Moa and Rokh make for tanky and/or ganky blaster platforms.
Also, I notice that Gallente Blaster ships are frequently primaried, but my Caldari ones with bigger tanks and a larger chance of being rail fit are usually ignored until the damage is being applied.

Take a month on your plan and train matar frigs/cruisers up to 4, train small med autocanons up to 5 train T2's up to 4.

Sensor boosted Brutixes are fun at undocks and warp ins.
For true solo pvp, the brutix with ec- drones are win. Then you have to fit the rest of your mids for a specific target to have a chance. Tracking disruptors for Hurricanes/Harbs, and lots of reppers for drakes.
Then you can die in a fire as his buddies warp in on you cause you have to fight within scram range.

They won't permarun, but without mwd you can run them for well over 3 minutes. Obviously you don't need any cap for tank or dps.
Why would you take a brutix over this, except for specialized roles?

I'm at work atm so I don't have some proper fitty stuff to work with, but my setup back then was 7 Ions T2, Y-T8 MWD, a point, a web, a medium cap injector, 2 MAR II, DCU II, Explosive hardener, 2 EANM II, (5th low I can't remember, either an MFS II or some named stuff), Aux nano rig, Nano accelerator rig, Trimark rig. I prefer the Ions because they're easier to fit and track so much better. Plus it leaves you space for a TE, which you badly need. Still does 915 DPS overheated with faction antimatter, and 1002 overheated with void (OMG).

I do agree that a TE would probably be a better choice than a 4th Mag Stab, but just using max skills for Brutix as a reference, it shows that 3 Mag Stabs results in 701 gun DPS for Brutix, whereas 4th Mag Stab adds 42 DPS more, which I don't think is that unsignificant. Same goes for the ships such as Mach and Nightmare, where 4th damage mod adds a few tens of DPS.
Having said that, yes, solo shield gank Brutix would probably benefit more from a 2nd TE than a 4th Mag Stab as it often lacks a web, but if the target is tackled & webbed by someone else 4th Mag Stab won't be too bad.

Pretty much this although you can shoehorn some Neutrons on there especially using a named mwd. A full rack of neutrons fits if you use an ACR although the DPS benefit isn't enough to warrant losing 4k EHP.

I know its lolrails, but the Brutix is a better railgun platform than the Ferox, ironically. In a gang, it can create very respectable firepower with a shield tank, and still bring 5 medium drones to the fight.
Something like this:
[Brutix, New Setup 1] Reactor Control Unit II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Damage Control II
Y-T8 Overcharged Hydrocarbon I Microwarpdrive Invulnerability Field II Large Shield Extender II Large Shield Extender II

Medium Core Defence Field Extender I Medium Core Defence Field Extender I Medium Core Defence Field Extender I
Vespa EC-600 x5
With medium DPS drones, you're looking at almost 600 DPS at 14+13km.

Yes well done. The cane is more expensive, everyone knows how it will be fitted and are less likely to engage it. You don't fly a shield Brutix for efficiency.

The price difference isn't big by any real standards and you can just armor/shield fit a cane as good as a brutix.
Originally by: Lady Spank You don't fly a shield Brutix for efficiency.
While I would agree that the brutix never was a really good blaster ship(since it lacked the gank/staying power of the mega and the speed of the rax back in the days), this is also true for next to any kind of blaster ship this days(except ranis/DD/comet).

Duel rep Electrons
500+dps with a 450dps tank and 30k ehp.
Its all about cap management and target selection.
Shield fit brutix are crap imo
1. They have very little defence against a solo frigate 2. They lack a web, meaning even a drake can slowboat out of scram range, or even your blaster range
I have had no problem with the brutix or even gallente/blasters, just all the minmatar/amarr fanbois jump into a gallente ship and go "OMG WHERE IS MY OP SCORCH OR BARRAGE" and instantly deem the ship fail and complain.

For gallente PVP you basically only have these choices:
Myrmidon Vexor Taranis Phobos Lachesis/Arazu Dominix/Mega/Hype - All are good aslong as you use their strengths to an advantage. Caps
Anything else can be filled more effectively by minmatar, I would never dream of flying a brutix in PVP when I can fly a maxed out hurricane instead.
That said, this is the only justifiable use of the ship, glass cannon: [Brutix, Super Gank Shield] Damage Control II Reactor Control Unit II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
10MN MicroWarpdrive I Warp Scrambler II Large Shield Extender II Small Capacitor Booster II, Navy Cap Booster 400

Medium Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I Medium Core Defence Field Extender I Medium Core Defence Field Extender I
Hammerhead II x5
1200 Null M 1200 Void M One load of Navy antimatter (use against frigs)
For an even cheaper version drop the rigs and possibly the injector and add 1-2 webbers. It will pin anytning in range but you will die really fast if you get shot, so use it for suprise dps in small gangs or for soloing really bad vagabond/dramiel pilots.

Even for the pure glass cannon fit, I would recommend Ions over the Neutrons if you dont fit Scram AND Web. The extra tracking on the neutrons usually means more real DPS the range and dps hit in lieu of the neutrons are minimal. Also fitting wise that may let you put a TE2 in that spare low slot instead of a RCU.
I think it has been said 1000 times over, the Brutix is not a great solo ship but it can work as surprise butt-s3x. You will be primaried and dead usually before you get into range...so make sure you have a warp-in at 0. If you run in a small gang have friends to deal with frigs, put 5 EC-600s in your bay and forget the damage drones. Blasters are your DPS...and those EC-600 will keep you alive more than the hammerheads will.

That's debateable, I would not fly it for survival at all and why not just go for max dps since thats all it is useful for anyway. If you are not pushing 1k dps overloaded with the brutix as a gank fit you might aswell take 2 months off pvp and get T2 projectiles and a hurricane in my opinion.
The myrmidon can be flown with blasters and a bit of creativity though, still better with projectiles however.
