I just came back after 3 years of not playing & was looking for a little advice. I was really mixed up when i played before, started off working to be a miner, then ended up training for a raven (which i dont have the skills to use efficiently.)
Anyways, where should I go from here? What would I be most suited to train to do with this particular skillset? I'm not really partial to anything in particular. I just want to get doing something productive for my char & start moving in the right direction.
Additional info: I have absolutly no missions grinded, I currently have nothing but 250 mill and a shuttel, if that helps.
My skills: User ID: 3926332 API Key: 1737FC9696BA448699B1B59179025E963B2787D62CE24B0CB6913168EB835E69
thanks for your time ^^

sorry for the second post, just wanted to add that my end goal is to save up the isk to buy a toon later on... because I can't see myself getting into the higher end stuff otherwise with how skills are time baseed

OP, edit your post and remove your API info. Even though limited API is "harmless" this IS EVE... and intel is power. Go to www.eveboard.com and upload your API there, then link your char in your post here.

Now to actually answer your questions :)
Your SP is quite low meaning you still haven't really chosen a path yet, might sound bad but it's not that much of a problem. The thing is that it's all about what you want to do in EVE. You could do PVE, PVP, production, trading or whatnot. It depends on what you find interesting and fun. This thread can give you an idea of the options you have but understand that making isk isn't necessarily an important goal, having fun is and that means it's about personal goals.

Edited by: Mixedblood on 15/04/2011 07:56:09 My current personal goal is to make my char a money producer for the short term (cutting corners where its temporarily acceptable). I'm also strictly PvE for now.
Mainly, I just want to go twards a path that wont have me waiting forever to really get into it and that will make use of the skills i've gotten so far, as few as they may be.
I'm leaning twards either going full mining or grabbing a drake for grinding missions. I have 200k skill points from my past learning skills so thats a nice start I guess.
PS: Nothing much on my acc that makes me worry about that info... I'll make sure to renew that code though in a day or so though.

There is only one correct answer. "Do whatever you have most fun doing." Look at the Certificates Planner under your character sheet to get an idea of skills to train to be 'well rounded' in a particular field. Look at what ships and loadouts you might want to train for. Look at the recommended certs of the ships you want to fly.
There is always something interesting to do though it tends to be a lot more interesting when you commit to working with other players. Find people who are already doing what you want to do, and ask if you can do it with them.
Personally I'm not a believer in buying characters. Besides, for all but the most business savvy or high income players (or willing to sell PLEXes) the time it takes to make the isk to buy a character will be longer than if you just trained the character from scratch. And the person you're buying it from does not have your needs or best interests in mind. Only you are responsible for your own skills. Plus it's always a big joke when people buy characters they don't know how to use, fail miserably, and ragequit.
If you've forgotten what might be fun, f12 -> career agents, and see what they have to teach you. But let your focus be to have fun however you define it personally rather than what other people say you should be doing.

What is the "end-game" that you're thinking of buying a character for? If it's "driving a super-capital, because I'm a very boring person without any desire to do anything really entertaining", then sure, go with the character-buying thing.
If the answer is anything else, I'd recommend just pointing that character at what you want to do and going at it.
So, now that I've told you that your plan is bad and you should feel bad, the most efficient way to isk grind at low to medium SP is likely to skill up around making that raven of yours as good as possible and spamming out level 4 missions until your eyes bleed. An alternate option that's even more boring but a bit more flexible (because you can afk and go to the nearest bar for a beer) is to push the mining up through an orca and go for veldspar.
Either way, make sure you join a player corp, because doing either of these things for more than an hour at a time will drive you totally bats in short order. ---

I've been in EVE over 2 years and I still don't really have a definite path.
I have very unfocused skills, and can do a bit of everything. I train whatever interests me at the moment, and failing that, whatever gives me the most benefit to what I already do.
Whenever I train towards some lofty long-term goal, I end-up being disappointed by the time I get there. Though I've never regretted training for stuff to make me better at what I already like to do.
I think the OP should try a bunch of stuff out, even lose some ships in the process, and discover what he/she enjoys most.
