I am a longtime plexer and have discussed this issue with others, we have come to the conclusion that you either broke the loot tables regarding the tower bpc's or removed them entirely over the past year and a half. This can be seen in their corresponding increase in price, now reaching close to 3 billion a pop. CCP what happened to our towers?

When CCP changed tower BPO's from minerals to PI products, they failed to do the same thing with faction towers. They took the easy route and just pulled them from the loot tables. I'd suggest contacting CSM if you ever want a chance of seeing them again.
I'd personally love to see them and faction modules drop again.

The BPCs stopped to drop long before PI I think, haven't seen any tower/POS modules BPC drop since at least apocrypha. And before PI there were no BPOs, towers were sold by NPCs and faction tower BP took a regular tower and minerals.

I too would like an answer to this.
What with exploration sites spawning once daily, boost to Officer spawns so they can't be soloed by ninja ratters, nerfing of loot tables across the board, nerfing of Dominion upgrades, and now no faction tower mods either, regular earning potential in nullsec is getting completely bolloxed.
Having to clone jump to empire to run level 4s to make isk sucks. Do not want.

I have noticed as well, and asking around, no one seems to have had a tower BPC or even turrets drop in a while it seems. It is possible that it is just coincidence, but it seems likely it is more than that. That is all the finding I have sadly.

hummm, a faction tower would be nice to see a drop....
Maybe add them to the 8/10 plex loot table? I've run about 5 8/10 plexes, and the only thing the final POS boss tower drops in a 21st tier overseer...
No faction loot or anything else... Maybe a purpose to the 8/10's loot table?

Haven't seen a faction tower/mod drop for a long time. Although I only ever did see one drop (about 2 years ago) so anecdote rather than data I'm afraid.

You just had a great idea in this thread.
Switch material requirements from minerals to PI products as for normal towers.
And make the faction towers and modules available to the pirate LP stores.

For those who are unaware pirate LP basically only give out ammo, hardwirings, implants, and ships. Oh and synth booster blueprints. If you want that fancy True Sansha anything you won't be getting it thru LP. At least not at the True Power Station I am docked at.
There are non "true", "Dread", etc faction towers in the game but, even these are not available from LP stores either.

Ok so ever one from CCP and their mothers can bump the Happy 8th Birthday but not one can say anything in this post.
How hard is it to say " We where unaware of any issue and are looking in to it."
Or this could be a ploy to raise the price of towers. The thing about that, is the people that are getting them are just going to let the prices go up.

Here's what happened:
It was a random programming bug that caused faction towers to not drop their BPO's anymore. CCP had all the intention of fixing it...and then threads like this started. After spending a couple weeks reading them, CCP devs got addicted.
Now they can't go a day without feeding on some of your delicious tears.

CCP make the faction towers and modules available in the pirate LP stores - as well as pirate-faction modules.
Remove the empire biotech companies hardwirings and implants from the pirate LP stores - nobody EVER spends precious pirate LP to take it out there. Make this game better, gooddammit.

I asked a question in the answer all questions thread pertaining to another item drop.
I don't want to know the future to make isk on it, but I would like to have the feeling that these things are decided on on purpose for soem plausible reason , they were aware of it, and the work it would take for them to adjust the drops.. whether that was something they could do with a couple key clicks or whether drop tables were compiled someplace inside mission info which could only be changed when they planned to revamp those missions?

I see it as CCP throttling the drops back maybe to zero or so close that it seems like it so that they donÆt become too common and devalued. I doubt they put them in game with the intention of having them practically replace normal towers. In highsec where loss is less of an issue they easily could have.
IÆd bet the drop rate was inflated at first to get them out there, and then scaled back. IÆd bet one of their metrics for increasing the drop rate is the Forum Whine Index and that one seems to have gone critical.

IÆd bet the drop rate was inflated at first to get them out there, and then scaled back. IÆd bet one of their metrics for increasing the drop rate is the Forum Whine Index and that one seems to have gone critical.
well considering that drops are at 0% or non-existant, we have a case for our whine . Seriously the price on these suckers has skyrocketed out of proportion to what they were. Towers are almsot selling for triple what they were, and pos guns are at 10-20 times the value now

Whoever said faction towers were removed because of PI is either an idiot or a troll. The faction BPC requires a regular tower of the same type (Amarr for Sansha, etc) plus minerals. So you still need PI stuff to make a faction tower from a BPC.

For those that missed it, in the "Devs Answer Everything" thread, this was addressed already by CCP Greyscale:

Can't they just be made into a super rare drop? Officers, a new super rare exploration site or special overseer, Sansha robbed everybody else's R&D and the MOM might drop them in Null only, etc.
Now that we know they're gone (for now) people will start popping them for the lulz more so than ever.

I fail to see why distribution is even a problem. The main use of these towers in my experience is for the reduced fuel consumption. The extra hitpoints are nice but if an attacking force gets past the defenses its going to blow up anyway. Shouldn't all the research towers be in highsec anyway so naturally all the Gurista towers would migrate to highsec as well .

I think there working on geting them redone to take the new PI's to build. That's just a guess I dont realy know.

Instead of putting Faction Towers and BP in NEX stores... why not put them in LP stores? That way everyone has an opportunity to buy them and use them.

A better distribtion? There is NO distribution ATM. WTF was wrong with the distribution before? They drop and people use them or sell them. What's the problem? Their use in high sec? And...So...? They save fuel and incerease profit margins.
Whatever happened to "if it ain't broke don't fix it"?
The only explanation I can see is that you were planning on MTing them. Well, that is over(for now), so put them back.

There's quite a few loot tables that have either been nerfed beyond recognition or are simply broken at the moment. Of course, scouring the patch notes reveals nothing as usual.
On topic, I used to run alot of anoms in null, low-sec, and 0.5 whilst waiting for fleets to form and had 13 various types of tower BPC (large, regular, and small towers) drop during the 12 months I was doing this actively (I kept a record, :D). They dropped from the special rats that sometimes spawn at the end. In my other exploration endeavours I had only 2 tower drops over a 24 month period, once from a faction belt rat, and the other in a 6/10.
Since Dominion, I have not had a single tower drop, although I have run less anoms, and mostly explored in W-Space. |
