Edited by: My Postman on 15/04/2011 11:43:01 Stealth extended downtime whine thread spotted!
DonŠt worry, i wined yesterday.
Edit: The information about the extended downtime yesterday was about 15 mins late. Wonder if there is any information today or should we assume "business as usual"?
IŠm very near to use the f-word, CCP

Yep. This would remove the expectations we have now that we can play now.

Or you could just think of it as being an hour anyway.

tbh, they should stop stealth patching so often. 99% of the time this happens, is where they're trying to sneak some fix in without telling us first.
Also, bring on the day they stop having daily DT and have 1 weekly patch day like oh... some other major MMO...

Yeah but most of the time it ends up 2 or 3 hours time for some free SPs i think

I prefer frequent short downtimes to extended weekly 24hr ones. It's also better for server performance if it is regularly rebooted.

Well if it's 2 - 3 then putting dt back to an hour won't help.

That would still not be definate would it! Sadly even then one cant be sure with ccp.
I hate to say it but it realy makes the game look bad, all this dt so often

That's an excuse bad developers use that can't write efficient code... or more commonly, a Microsoft response.
But anyway... server is up... back to the pewpew.

You should see the state of some other MMO's that have downtime, it's hilarious and cataclysmically awful.
*cough* blizzard *cough*
But on a serious note, i don't mind downtime, just so long as i know what's going on, but unfortunatley i don't see any word from CCP. Thankfully though i've got a skill that still has about 4 days left, but i wanna play.
Anyways, hope it's up soon |

(Note: I am being completely 100% serious in this post. No sarcasm, at all, just a hard outsider's look in on things)
I think most of you people need to be reBooted... in the head... with a steel toed clomper stomper.
CCP can borrow mine if they'd like.
And, already with the complaining about wanting more SPs? Really? I know I was planning on doing a neural remap immediately after downtime yesterday, so with the unexpected longer downtime, my character is currently missing approximately 68-98 SP... not that I'm complaining. Crap happens. IIRC the last time CCP gave out free SP due to downtime problems, I wasted it on... I don't even remember what I wasted it on, but I didn't have an updated clone, and that was when an autopilot broke, so I was dumb and immediately jumped into lowsec and went blammo within mere seconds, with, what is it, 10% SP loss due to not having an updated clone? Yeah, I'd hate to think of what that'd do to me now if it happened again. So for me and all the incoherent fools out there, CCP, please, don't give out free SP for these downtimes. Most of us will just waste it anyway. Or it will teach others that "Whining actually gets you things in the real world."

Why is your character missing sp, you don't even need to pause training to remap anymore. I remapped this morning without pausing the training (by error), I was surprised it worked though. So you no longer have to disrupt training to remap.

If your life is so devoid of fun that you have to moan about downtime, I'd look at something else than EVE as the bad guy. Just, you know, putting it out there.

They should run the servers on tears of whiners these days rather than hamsters. The server would be supercharged and never lag again from the amount of tears lately...

The time where one skill ended and another skill was picked up was right in the middle of downtime (IIRC approx 11:15:15) meaning 00:14:45 my character was training a skill that didn't have the remap set up to get the optimal number of SPs. According to EveMon, the extra approximate 34 minutes it took me to log in after downtime (Got the remap in at about 12:04) means that if I could have gotten it in at 11:30, I'd have 68 more SP. In a perfect world, though, I'd have gotten the remap in right as the one skill was done training, and that would have given me an extra 30 SP.

The optimal number of sp as defined by Evemon.
Guess I should not be surprised, more and more players are relying on add-ons to play games for them.
