Looking at these stories makes me laugh.My story was not much different.Was in a caracal (my best ship) around 3 weeks into the game when I started checking out astroid belts.I noticed that the lower the sec status of the system was..the better the roids :P So I kept going down until I got to the 0.4 gate and thought hmmmm.I could just take a look I guess.So I went through the gate and it was empty,I thought to myself cool!Grabbed some more roid samples and went on to 0.3.Also empty!
Thats where it went wrong.I got to like the second belt when a merlin pulled up next to me.First reaction was oh ****! But then I thought whats he gonna do in his little merlin..I have that ship He locks me and two of his buddies come along shortly.So I had 3 ships locking me and said f that Im going down fighting!I opened up a can of whupass on the cerb that just joined thinking I'll take the big one first.They started firing and befor I knew it I had no cap,my shields were gone and I kept losing lock on them
Well I exploded to my surprise and they locked my pod.At which point I started emo raging in local.Turns out they wanted to ransom me and I shot first lol.After that they asked me what my pod was worth to me.I answered pffft..and pressed self destruct.But they were cool and gave me some isk back and even asked me to join them.I declined politely and learned my lesson.Forgot the names but ill edit later and give them props after I log in.

Doing level 1 missions, got sent to lowsec, realized the missions gave even better rewards there (100k isk! wow!) and, remarkably, survived for weeks without incident before getting popped and podded off a station undock being camped by a couple INVICTA guys.

I have at least podded a couple people in my time.

In a horrendously fit brutix. The corp I was in were (and still are) terrified of any kind of pvp. Well I have managed to rectify the balance since then but it took a long time.

I was doing L3s in my Myrm in Lowsec because I was too ignorant at the time to know how stupid that was, or more to the point too ignorant to know how to do it properly. Mid-mission an Arazu and Pilgrim popped up out of no-where and... yeah.
Funny thing was he tried to ransom my pod for 100mil, I think he was a bit disappointed when I told him I didn't have that much and my implants were only worth half that anyway.

It was in MH low sec. I was flying a Cruise Slasher as a tackler against a Artiepest with a Torp Raven doing the heavy hitting.
The Tempest one shotted my Slasher with a wrecking shot while I was orbiting and my Raven wingman's Torps AOEd my pod.

If you want to give up the advantage of a huge buffer that a full slave set grants you for example..be my guest :P
Just don't come around my hood with that herp a derp.And yes I can stand to lose them a few times,make no mistake there.
In my opinion the damage implants are worth it as well.Ive had many close wins where I can really say that if not for the implants,I would have lost.

I have never been podded, and have been in no shortage of situations where it was likely.
Honestly, unless you get bubbled in a horrible position, or lag out in a large fleet fight, it would take effort to lose your pod.

I saved for weeks to buy my first Vexor. I was so proud of it. Then I got a mission to go to Old Man Star. It went kablooey, and I ragequit because the game didn't tell me I was about to jump into lowsec. I don't remember who did the pewpewing.
Of course, these days there's notifications everywhere.

In 2004 in my shiny new Merlin I felt I could take on everyone, went to lowsec and saw some people in local with bounties on their head.
So I asked them to wait for a bit while I would get some more ammo because I was sure I didn't bring enough. ( They were in battleships)
Came back and scouted till I found them sitting about 200km off of a gate. Next I know my ship explodes as they sniped it. And before I could say WTF my pod went pop.
I still remember the name.

First time on this char was 12-15-2008. Seeing as this char has only been podded 14 times in it's lifespan it's not hard to forget. Southern Cross were out on a little roam. I was ratting in E-YCML (Providence) and I got caught up on a roid when neutrals jumped in. I wasn't fast enough to get to the station. So pop I went.
On my old char, wow, like 2005 some time but honestly I lost all his info and don't have anything left for him. I couldn't tell you anything about his history.

5 or so weeks into the game
Was in 0.0 providence, back when it was CVA carebear-ish land. Was ratting in a hurricane (biggest ship I could fly at the time, of course).
In comes a taranis piloted by Eileen (I think that's the spelling), points, starts to shoot and orbits me. I'm tanking now both the rat spawn and the ranis.
My hurricane was fitted with armor tank, web, nos and tracking comp w/ tracking script, it takes me 15-20 secs to realize the ranis is after a kill and turn my attention onto the ranis. Was steadily dropping the ranis shield, then my damage output halted when it reached ranis armor...
I asploded and got my pod webbed and scrammed. the ransom was 50 mil, and of course I didn't have it. Poof goes the pod
I trained motion prediction V (gun tracking) and warrior/valkirie II drones right after

I must have been a 2 weeks old newb and I innocently joined a player corp, that got wardecced the day after. I was gatecamped and my mining Bantam was destroyed and I was podded.
I think that you also should get the warnings you get when making a corp when you join a corp! What did I know?

I was sitting in my pod outside Dodixie and waiting for the self destruct to go off (quick way to get to a station) when I was podded for the first time.
Only thing that came to my mind was: "Thanks for shortening my wait!" :D

first guy i actually PvP'd with who was a WT at the time managed to pod me on my second month in game, recently come in contact with him again and he is now in my corp and were good friends :-P though i seem to end up friends with almost everyone that shoots me these days :-P

I don't remember the names of thepilots involved, but it was in Sarum Prime, during its days as a favourite of the pirate community.
A communication breakdown led to me warping back to the jump-in point that was camped by some of the little scallywags.
I knew I was dead even before I arrived there

Lol I was a newb PVP pilot and was flying in my Kestrel and thought it would be a good idea to lock on a flashy and engage....in a Brutix. He ran away to the nearest jumpgate, so I thought maybe he wasn't equipped for PVP....well...warped to the gate, engaged and he thoroughly whomped me, I tried to use the Jumpgate to no avail. Afterwards, he podded me.....it's what I get I guess lol.

i sure do.
was back in 04, i lost my mega in low sec (pvp) to a chap called razor jax, i thought i was uber with my 425mm prototype rails (before t2, about 45mil per gun) never event knew about blasters! got my face stamped by his blaster mega.. kept in touch for like a year after that giving me hints etc, tht face pounding pretty much is what made me really "feel eve" i kicked everythings ass :D
