Arcturus Deathbane Thesleeper
I was mining on like my first week or so in game, didnt yet know that lowsec belts meant death if you were new, got locked and suddenly I couldnt do anything at all (ewar ftl lol). Few seconds later, I was in my pod, then in a station.
Lesson learned
First time I ever died was like the second day in game, I see a guy with a huge bounty sitting at a gate, red, in a pod. Im sitting in a Kestrel (my best ship at the time lol) an, not knowing a lot of things, fire a missile. Man, if only Id fired a flight of them lol Regardless, got pwnt by the gate guards and laughed at in local lol
Lesson learned

I don't remember who but when I first started playing I was running missions to try and make money, and I finally got one that sent me into lowsec.
So I haphazardly flew the biggest thing I could fly at the time, my caracal (because bigger is better amirite?) and was doing fine until I met a sabre on the other side of the gate. He pointed me and autocannoned me to death and I was rather frustrated with my inability ot warp off or do anything about it.
Then he podded me. I didn't learn anything.

I was in a wormhole with my little mining corporation, we were leaving so I warped to the wormhole entrance without scanning. Got my shiny Exequror blown up by an Onyx (chadbrochill17) and a Curse from Black Serpent Technologies(Sepelio Fas) then podded. I remember being really angry because I'd been playing for around 2 months at the time and had never been podded before. It did mean, however, that I didn't have to fly the 50+ jumps back to our home system. :D

He didn't bubble me, he just pointed me. Dunno what to tell you about gate guns, perhaps it wasnt lowsec. It was many, many years ago.

I was flying in 0.0 with a gate camp crew, in my frigate to see how they worked - I was early in the game, when our whole group dropped out of warp far earlier than the gate we were going to and were surrounded by more red ships than Ive seen since (with the exceptions of Youtube videos of Titan killing fights). The fleet leader said "Its OK they werent waiting for us"
Then everything lagged and I was in a station lol ------------------------------------ "You know, my foot oughta vandilize your ass" |

Was roughly a week after I started playing and I had found out how to make some serious ISK for my age.
I began hitting the trade routes around Bourynes having moved down from Jouvalen(sp?) to meet a friend. I had quickly become a fan of eve and went premium within about 2 days. I trained for a badger which was given as a reward for a simple mission.
I traded in luxurious goods including Oxygen, Robotics and construction blocks, some days I would find routes that would make 100,000ISK just for flying from one station to another within the same system! Shortly I had amassed around 40million ISK from my trading and I was only a week into Eve. I felt powerful... I upgraded my ship to a Badger MK2 fitted Expanded cargoholds then filled out the ship with Cargocontainers which were full to the brim with Polytextiles. Unfortunately due to a market issue in which my Pentium 4 3Ghz lagged to poop on I ended up buying Polytextiles at a sky high price which would cause me 50% loss if I were to sell them in high sec.
I questioned how hard it was to go into low sec and though... this is pretty fast, I mean I'm a big ship a frigate can't kill me...
I warped to the 0.4 gate to meet a lone rookie pilot, I almost felt like talking to him and asking him whether he was curious to see what low sec was like, however he had nearly 2 years to his name which at the time confused me to why he was flying an Ibis.
I progressed through and spammed warped, I landed on my destination gate and as I came out of warp there were hundreds... a full scale factional warfare fight on the gate. I had pressed warp to 0m and I had landed at 0m but for some reason people were able to lock me and fire within the time I had landed. I Jumped through and quickly aligned to the next gate, unfortunately a megathron was waiting which almost instantly blew me to smithereens. I sat there quickly spamming warp realising my pod was in danger however for some reason my computer wasn't responding, my 8Mb Wanadoo Internet connection along with my Pentium 4 and 1Gb of 2700 ram just wouldn't allow it... I spammed and I spammed until the next thing I found out I was in the station back in Bourynes.
The insulting thing was it was a Megathron that had popped my pod and I was never able to understand how the game failed to respond so badly for such a long time. My lesson was learnt, however I kept making mistakes in trading until I decided to just shoot some NPCs and within a month of starting I owned a Raven Navy Issue, with all those fail fits I have no idea how that didn't failcascade.

No idea who I lost my first pod too, never much cared about my pod (still dont, not sure why people do) but I still remember losing my first ship to players in low sec. I was "security" for a mining op, in a badly fit Rupture.
Was 2 of them, they warped in at range, our miners got out but me being the big bad security guy I waited too long, got pointed and went down ridiculously fast xD
Still remember the sheer panic I felt, good times.
Lesson learnt, stay aligned (was much more ackward back in those days, no "align" option, needed do it manually) -----------------

Don't remember who, but back with I first started, I had a friend in Factional Warfare fighting in Caldari. I was the tackle in a merlin if I recall and we warped to a FW plex that his gang (Was flying with the 22nd Black Rise Defensive Unit I belivee, back when they were in FW), anyways, I warped in and I remember bumping into a Caracal. I was zoomed in and I was like "Hey that's a cool-" and I existed no longer.
Was a fun experience though. AFK, Need more Quafe. |

I remember the event, for it really woke me up to what kind of game this is.
I was about a month into the game, and had run all the tutorials, and had spent a week or two ratting highsec belts in my kestrel. I had just gained enough skill and ISK to buy my first mining barge, a Procurer. Yes that single strip miner barge was the pride of my heart. Soon after, I was mining in a belt and received a private message from a corp recruiter. I was happy to have caught the eye of a player corp, so I joined. The very next day, I went out into the belt where I had previously mined, and I saw a red Brutix sitting about 50km off the warp in. It started blinking, and a flight of drones appeared. Before I knew what was happening, I was sitting in the clone vat.
The Private Message he sent me was, "Don't join into that corp, those people are ---holes" I was never notified of any wardecs, or that the corp was recruiting while wardecced. When I tried to talk to my corpmates about what happened, I found that my roles were dropped, the corp disbanded, and I was out a Procurer.
I Hardened TFU after that... ---

Edited by: Mal Lokrano on 16/04/2011 17:52:49 First time I got podded was way back in early 2008. My corp had just joined a highsec alliance and almost right after we joined they got decced. I had been in war before but thought only your ship could be killed in war, so after I got jumped on a highsec gate by WTs I ended up autopiloting my pod back to home, unfortunently only a jump or two later more WTs spotted me and proceeded to pod me . I remember those guys ambushing people at gates. Never forgot the day that my screen was taking time loading so I knew I was in trouble. When it did load I was down shields and going into armor. Hit both mwd's and beat it out of there. Eve was quite a bit different back in those days.

Edited by: Tosser Galore on 16/04/2011 18:44:58 Some guy in an incursus podded me in my double mwd rail thorax, while I was ratting in 0.3 or something. Cost me several million SP. And I sat whole fight just looking at that little ship wondering if it could hurt me..
Or was it that time when I did 40+ jumps in a navitas to "ninja mine". After the AP extravaganza I was docking at a station in some npc 0.0 space in the south and somehow the little gang outside the station people managed to lock and kill me before I docked, granted this was way before hp buff but.
