I'd like the option to permently delete unwanted skills from my character, I'm sick of looking at crap skills that I will never use they just clutter up my characters skill tree.

Wouldn't mind if it just meant you lose all SP; although it might be an even more used 'feature' if (lets say) 30% of SP was refunded after deletion (giving you them back as unused SP).

If you'd care to look up the other 5,632 threads about this same thing instead of spewing out another one, you'd know. And when did disagreement start to = trolling?
But being less kelmad about it.. Eve has always been a game billed as one where choices matter. Your choice to train those skills in the past should not be easily thrown away. And be honest.. what's the benefit of doing this? I most certainly could not support getting any refund on the deleted skill. I could possibly see myself going for a complete deletion, but the only benefit I can see is lowering the cost of high SP clones, or possibly artificiality inflating the cost of selling characters.
But if your OP really does state your reason for it, that "it clutters up my skill tree", then get over it.

\signed - IF - you could get a partial refund of SP. It could be restricted like remapping to once or twice a year to offset the impact to the price of toons.

The fact that 5,632 threads about the same thing should say something don't you think? I really don't think that you have much of an argument against other than just your own personal preference which leaves me kind of scratching my head beacause, why should it matter to you if there is a button that allows people to delete an unwanted skill? Really! Would it effect your sleep at night knowing that someone has the ability to delete a few skills from his/her character? Will this destroy the whole Eve experience for you? I think that you need to get over it!

\signed getting full sp back would be nice though considering ccp has the tool to do that but just being able to delete skills if anything would be cool to i guess.

It would take a little bit of programing time from CCP, would get some "OMG I deleted this skill by accident!!! plz halp!" petitions for the GMs, but yeah, that's about it.
Still, it's such a minor issue that I would rather see you getting over it than CCP investing any manpower in it before more pressing issues are solved. Even with the effort of Team BFF to iron out those small issues and Akitas "Thousand Papercuts" thread, this proposal is still so deep down the list that you wouldn't see it for a long time, if ever.
And, as others have said: choices. They mean something in Eve. Even if it's just your personal discomfort when looking at your skilltree.

It does. It tells me there are a LOT of people playing a game they want to see radically changed. If you hate the choices YOU MADE in the skill system this much, why are you even playing the game? You have your personal preference, I have mine. You expressed yours, I expressed mine. Of course I'm the troll, right? Right?

First of all before deleting you would get a pop up box with a warning duh! You didn't think of that? Finally, if this was such a "minor issue" as you put it then why are there 5,632 threads about it? Looks like definate interest in the feature to me.

The benefit is i dont have to look at them anymore and be reminded of my past "noob" training mistakes, also makes my character possibly more attractive to a potential buyer.

Yeah, it's surely not like people petition to get back refined or trashed items all the time despite warning pop up boxes, right? So, yes. I did think of that. How about you? Duh.....
Originally by: Tonom Finally, if this was such a "minor issue" as you put it then why are there 5,632 threads about it? Looks like definate interest in the feature to me.
I said you should look them threads up before posting a new one. Not that no one cares at all (a minority does, I'll give you that).
Yes, we get threads like this on a regular basis. Feel free to comment on why this very unimportant and purely aesthetic concern . which has been mentioned on the forums many times - should be prioritised over any really pushing issue in the game.
As I have said before, you having to look at "past "noob" training mistakes" is NOT a reason to warrant any dev time to "fix" your meaningless perception of the skills you choose to train. Choices: live with them.
Edit: and wanting CCP to "fix" something you screwed up so you get more ISK out of selling your character is even more ******ed than anything else.

"Minority" really? How did you came to this conclusion? Did they do a poll on the issue that I missed.
"purely aesthetic concern" lets just say it was for arguement sake, didn't CPP spend alot of time on character customization? The game is about choices right...
Ok I think I know the reason you can't understand why the ability to delete "past "noob" training mistakes"..... maybe it is because your character doesn't have any and not because you haven't made any but because your still a NOOB and they do not bother you yet. CPP does have a big interest in trading and selling characters because they make a ton of money on these paid services. In fact they must have made it a priority to use there time and resources on creating a forum dedicated to trading and selling characters. In case you haven't seen it Character Bazaar

No, no poll - neither positiv or negative. How come you claiming it's in any way important to any aspect of the game. Other than your own personal noob mistake?
Originally by: Tonom "purely aesthetic concern" lets just say it was, for arguement sake, Didn't CPP spend alot of time on character customization. The game is about choices right...
Um...yes...your point? CCP introduced a new "on the edge" character creation tool. Everyone gets to recreate his character. What has the new character customisation to do with the skills? Beeing able to delete skills has nothing to do with that.
Originally by: Tonom Ok I think I know the reason you can't understand why the ability to delete "past "noob" training mistakes"..... maybe it is because your character doesn't have any and not because you haven't made any but because your still a NOOB and they do not bother you yet.
You still fail to state why that is bad. My character(s) having or not having skills in fields I rather not have them is not important. I can live with the choices I made.
So what is it? Your friends laughing at you because you have once tried out mining when you started eve? Get new friends. Or some balls.
Originally by: Tonom CPP does have a big interest in trading and selling characters because they make a ton of money on these paid services.
CCP made it an option to trade chars. But the money they get from the char transfer fee is nothing compared to transcription fees.
Originally by: Tonom In fact they must have made it a priority to use there time and resources on creating a forum dedicated to trading and selling characters.
Ohhh..they created a seperate forum to conduct those trades. CCPs whole business model must rely on people trading characters.
But that's not the point.
Your idea might have some merit. But in the end it's just your personal and "aesthetic" opinion and implementing it is just not worth it, yet. One day maybe - just not now.
There have been threads - CCP knows it. It's a minor issue - stop posting about it. Or keep doing if you feel CCP should compensate your screw ups to get more ISK.

If you retain a part or all of your skill points, the specialization becomes meaningless. We don't need everyone flying the fotm ship. This is a multiplayer game with a lot of jobs to do and re-specializing takes away a part of the need to play with other people. Not to mention that you can apply the skill poits to any skill at full value, even the ones you learn slower normally. This I will never support. EvE should be the game with consequences. You could have looked up the information or asked someone about the skill, but you chose not to.
If you lose the skill points there is very little reason to actually do so. It's not like there's a level cap or anything and those skills might come in handy at a later time, like when moving to a wormhole. The dev time is better spent on other things, like the stuff that team bff does. This option I could support when there are no more useful things to fix. Too bad there always is.

How do you get re-specializing from just being able to delete a few unwanted skills? I didn't say anything about re-spending SP, and this "Eve is a game of consequences" dried out argument that keeps getting regurgitated over and over by the forums faithful one percent is ****ing worthless and nothing more than a troll. If this is just "waisted dev time" and nothing more than an "aesthetic" as some say, then why did CCP add the option to customize your character while in a station, and as many times as you like? Surely that is just an "aesthetic" feature and a waist of quality developer time EH? CCP doesn't think so! Also, when CCP improved the character creator there was an absolute ****ing mega ton of "look at my cool new Avatar" spam that plagued these forums for weeks! Nuff said there. Fact is, people care about aesthetic features very much, CCP knows this and seem to have no problem implementing this kind of stuff as long as there is a demand or interest for it, and there is, my idea is no different. It matters how our Avatars look and it matters how our skill trees look especially when it comes to selling a character, another option that CCP makes money on btw.

So, a fundamental change to the game.... because you cant ignore 'mining 4' in your queue?
This all boils down to people wanting the benefits of some skills at some point in the game, but then when they are done with them, they dont want to pay for expensive clones.
