AS THEY MOVE THROUGH
Manwe, I am glad that your work in Korama is done and that you are returning to Rens for a while. I fully anticipate that the wonder-lust will eventually get you and you will be back in New Eden. Just remember to do your "regular" disciple work in the reaper.
I prefer to stay in the Piekura/Jita arena for now. As they pass through, I find that pilots in their endless wandering need a voice to challenge the accepted norms of routine violence and greed. Staying where I am is not about hanging on to the old but meeting the new that passes through.
Here is something a bit ironic. The clone bodies that we shed and repossess in the rather morphed process of infomorph transport are, non-the-less based on the genetics of the original. Advanced though we may be, if you live in one such body long enough, genetics might end up getting you in the end. I am experiencing one such genetic surprise right now. Interesting experience. It is called Rheumatoid Arthritis. Pain in the the joints of the knuckles and elbows.
This presents an interesting question for the capsuleer. When faced with physical ailment in the present body, does one cast it off and possess a new body or endure the ailment as "other mere humans" do? What is the "infomorph" thing to do?
The Disciples of Ston bid you peace.

Edited by: Ston Momaki on 13/08/2011 20:35:47 EVER SEEN A CORPSE WITH A CUTE SMILE?
Before I head back to Corp HQ in Korama to deposit a couple retrieved corpses, I though I should reflect on a couple of ironies encountered in Jita.
One might say, that the first irony is to choose Jita as the place where one would collect corpses with the intention of returning them to their owners. Jita is a 0.9 security system. There is little reason to find corpses there in the first place. When you do, it is usually because people are there for the purposes of fighting and killing. It is the last place in New Eden, where you will find a capsuleer concerned about their clone body. In other words, Jita is a prime example of where you might find capsuleers who are slowly losing the integration of the infomorph with human flesh. I note the irony but would add that it is precisely for this reason, that the Disciples are active here. We wish, not withstanding the futility of the effort, to help encourage the re-integration of infomorph with a positive valuation of the body.
The second irony is where I find that there is hope. Information from the bioscan tag of the one of the corpses indicated that this female identified herself with the nickname, "Cutesmile." Funny thing is that a cute smile only occurs on the face of a body that is fully integrated with a mind and emotions to boot. A pure infomorph can't smile; you need a body for that.
I feel sad for "Cutesmile." Once you smile in a body, you forever change that particular body. Even though the new clone body is a genetic match, it won't wear a smile in the same way as the old body did. The collagen loss of age means that the cute smile you wore when you were young may still be cute, but it shows the depth of your experience over time. I hope "cutesmile" will mourn the loss of her body in Jita, no matter what the cause or whose fault it was. The hope comes in the fact that this particular capsuleer chose to identify herself on the basis of something totally human and mortal. Good for her.
The Disciples of Ston bid you peace.
P.S. I have just learned that one of the bodies recovered belongs to someone I cannot contact. His name is Halione. Please contact me so your body can be returned free of charge.

Really super bad corporate news:
The investment firm who managed our endowment has closed, and taken our ISK. The Disciples of Ston have no more regular funding for projects, training, or research. I have personally lost a butt load. The principle investment was out of my pocket, now it is gone; or should I say, in someone else's pocket. I took a risk for the Disciples and lost big. How do they say it? "Live and learn."
Implications: I will not fund the Disciples out of my pocket anymore. They will have to earn their own way. You guys are gonna have to either do "real" work or start reprocessing your loot again; something I noticed you stopped doing. You have two office rentals to pay. One is very cheap, the other not so cheap. Consider relocating the second office to another location. I am not sure how you want to work it out. I have good refining skills and am willing to refine for you, but you have to do the gathering.
Another implication: The Disciples have taught me to "hold things lightly." When I noticed that the usual Monday endowment payout was absent, It was the teaching of the Disciples that steadied my emotions. What else can one do but let it go and get on with other things. Our total losses were about 400,000,000 ISK in principle investment. This isn't much for most, but for me and for the Disciples, it is a lot.

TAKE A DEEP BREATH AND RETURN TO SIMPLICITY
Wealth is a trap even in modest amounts. When we have it, we tend to take certain things for granted. We cease being thankful. Sometimes we become lazy. Certainly, we become entitled. The Disciples of Ston were feeling comfortable in the new found freedom to "do other things." Now it is back to basics. Edaine, we are very, very sorry for your loss. You have been unselfish toward our organization from the start and we sincerely appreciate that. We expect nothing more from you.
What you can expect from the Disciples: 1. We will continue to be non-violent. We will find ways to raise funds in a peaceful manner. We will not fire a shot or use any violent means. 2. We will do our level best to continue the Clone Body Return Service free of charge. We might not be able to use the convenience of contracting, but we can deliver as travel costs us only time and not ISK. 3. We will pare back. Manwe has already closed our Rens office. Our Korama office only cost a bit more than 10,000/mo while Rens cost us 1Mil/mo. We can easily cover our rent with minimal effort. 4. I will train some minimal mining skills so I can make a little to cover our costs. 4. Though not ideal, we may have to go back to reprocessing the weapons we take from wrecks and cans. 5. We will be what we set out to be n the first place, before the endowment, before the guarantee of income. We are here to serve and benefit humanity, not ourselves.
The Disciples of Ston bid you peace.
P.S. I urge all of those associated with The Disciples of Ston to forgive Phaser Inc. and its officers. Do not be bitter. Edaine, this will be the most difficult for you.

ONE IBIS LOAD OF KERNITE
One cargo hold full of kernite pays the rent for a month for our office in Korama. I just deposited the rent amount for our next payment a few moments ago. Prior to that, I visited a 0.4 system next to Korama and mined a tank full of kernite with my trusty Ibis and civilian miner. I hop, skip and jump over to Jita and ISK for rent is taken care of. Simple enough. There are "bad guys" in the system I mined, but they didn't seem to care too much about me in the Ibis. Now on to Disciple work.
I hope this puts things in perspective.

SHE WAS FLYING A SHUTTLE
Tonight, I recovered two capsuleer bodies from Jita. One was a woman who's wreck was nearby. She was flying a shuttle when she was destroyed. Shuttles mount no weapons. Whoever attacked her, attacked and unarmed pilot and then pod killed her besides.
I do not know the full story of what happened but one cannot help but wonder. Why attack an unarmed ship? Why go on to pod kill the pilot? Was someone angry? Was it revenge? Was it boredom? Was it sport? I have heard that there is a way to investigate who kills who in the patrolled systems. Would it be appropriate to publish the violent act and who perpetrated it? There is an extraordinary amount of boasting that goes about on the subject of who killed who and the loss involved etc. Would the killer boast of this deed also?
These kinds of things are always disturbing to me and I hope they continue to be. The day I cease to be disturbed by this violence is the day that my humanity has begun to die.
On other fronts, I am assisting Manwe by trying to triangulate the Jita sun for him while he is off in Minmatar space. I am having some issues. I cannot seem to mark two coordinates that intersect the stellar center. The positions of the orbiting bodies are just not right to get a line on the center. I'll try again tomorrow.
This disciple needs rest. Peace to you and pleasant dreams. The Disciples of Ston. |

BODY RETURNED
The Disciples of Ston began the clone body return service to make a contribution to the capsuleer community that we thought was needed. The core philosophy/spirituality of the service is the belief that maybe by returning dignity to death, we might reduce the frequency of the same.
The woman that I spoke of last night in this forumn is the owner of the first body we have successfully returned. She requested that the body be transported about nine systems from where it was recovered. I was only too glad to do that. I issued a secure contract and she took delivery.
ANOTHER ISSUE
SInce we lost our endowment, the Disciples will have to be alert to another issue. Possession and money are the antithesis of our values, yet we need a modicum of it to do what we do. Tonight, I picked up a tech II barage cannon along with a couple thousand rounds of tech II ammo. Temptation: checking the market value and resale price of the loot.
I had to catch myself and remind myself that never, never, never are we in the arms resale business. If every we think that what we do justifies the furtherance of violence in such a way, then it is time to quit. These are going to the smelting furnace as a reaffirmation of the peaceful foundations of the Disciples of Ston.
The Disciples of Ston bid you peace.

SECOND ATTEMPT IN JITA SUCCESSFUL
The first time I tried to reach the stellar core in Jita, I did not understand Manwe's method of navigation. I was not able to get close enough to make a journey into the core practical. After reading what he had told another pilot, I realized that what I needed to do was to get two nav bookmarks on a transverse line with the sun. I decided to give it another try. This time, I got in the stellar mass and close enough to make an attempt to make it to the core. I am guessing that I am only a few hundred KM from the core and can finish the journey tomorrow.
We will be asking the pilots of Jita for help in our research. This is Manwe's purvey but since he is currently in Amarr space, I will be handling the Jita situation. I see huge, massive vessels here on an hour to hour basis. The Disciples of Ston are asking the pilots of these vessels to assist us in testing our prediction. We believe that the distance one is blown out of the stellar mass is proportional to the mass of the vessel. We would like a freighter captain to help us test this.
I also see the presence of stellar core coordinates as a tool for the Disciples to use for peace in Jita. More on that later.
The Disciples of Ston bid you peace.

LET US BEGIN TO PUT ACTIONS BEHIND OUR VALUES
Recently, one Alizabeth Vea perpetrated an act of abject cruelty upon a slave. This act has prompted capsuleers to declare war upon her and to seek justice through retribution. There are times that peace comes partly through this kind of justice. However, there is much more that we can and should do as a capsuleer, no... as a "human" community. Too long has the capsuleer community used its infomorph status to conveniently separate itself from the plight of humanity. We must do more than punish Alizabeth Vea. We must begin the process of abolition.
The Disciples of Ston are beginning the thought process on this subject with what we believe should be a chorus of efforts by the freedom loving capsuleer community. First, we should demand a form of license whereby capsuleer pilots may rescue slaves, transport them to free space, and free them at designated stations. This form of licensing should not come without cost, but should require training, commitment, and risk on the part of those serious enough to actually act on behalf of the enslaved. Those so licensed should be under a mechanism by which it is impossible to profit in any way from the enterprise of freeing slaves. Concord needs to establish that anyone so licensed may, upon encountering slave holding ships in free space, seize those slaves by whatever means available in order to free them. Slave holders should no longer be able to transport slaves through free space with only a possibility of minimal consequence. We need to sow up our forked tongues and start acting according to our stated values.
We also believe that it is time that a community rise up from among the Amarr to rigorously oppose slavery and to renounce the religious justification for this most wicked institution. It has now become an excuse to say that such reform has its time in the future and that the logistics of freeing the slave makes swift action impossible. There is more than sufficient wealth and infrastructure to free every slave and begin the process of helping former slaves matriculate into lives of dignity and freedom.
It is time. The Disciples of Ston.

DOES NOUVELLE ROUVENOR MEAN ANYTHING TO YOU?
Yesterday I transported four dead clone bodies from Jita back to our storage facility in Korama. Four seemed like a lot to me as they lay frozen in my cargo bay, but IÆm sure that four is very little to most capsuleers. What about 40, is that a lot of dead bodies? What about 400, would you consider that a great loss of life? If the number were 4000, would that trigger a response in your heart? How about 40,000 dead, would the average capsuleer ask what would cause such death? Maybe 400,000 murdered humans would shake your soul.
Nouvelle Rouvenor was the Gallente underwater city that was sabotaged by the Caldari at the inception of the War. Over 500,000 humans died in this senseless act of terrorism by elements of my national identity, the Caldari. The Achura are Caldari instead of Gallente for a rather ironic reason. We tend to shun the material, ephemeral of the universe in favor of the spiritual or mysterious. Gallente hedonism pushed us to the Caldari. Here is the irony, the conflict began over the issue of possession, power and control of new resources. The distance between the hedonism of the Gallente and the possessiveness of the Caldari is indiscernible.
I ran across a fragment of ancient religious text recently that said: ôWhat causes fights and quarrels among you? DonÆt they come from your desires that battle within you? You want something but donÆt get it. You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.ö
Regardless of your theism or lack of it, the psychological truth of the above is startling enough. Had Nouvelle Rouvenor never happened, peace likely would have been negotiated and millions more saved from death and generations of hatred averted. I think of this as I transport 4 bodies. I grieve almost to despair when I realize that the owners of these bodies did not regard their own flesh. How much less would they then regard the flesh of others.
The Disciples of Ston bid you Peace.

SIX MORE CORPSES, TWO PUZZLES
Jita is the same place of blood thirst that I have observed but with some puzzles. One such puzzle is why, when no one was attacking her and there did not appear to be any aggression of any kind against her, a pilot would choose simply to destroy her own body. It was one of those rare occassions when I was present to observe the infomorph and body separate rather than just coming upon a copse. This pilot simply set her pod to self destruct. As time goes on, I have greater difficulty grasping this kind of disintegration from humanity.
This is not like suicide, it is not motivated by anything like suicide among humans. It is rather, a sort of throw away mentality. Since I will always have another body handy, why bother with this one? The logic further carries that what in oursleves we do not regard, we will regard even less in others. I do hope I am wrong about this pilot.
The second puzzle, which really isn't all that puzzling but should be, involved a pilot whose body was found floating with three frigate wrecks bearing his identity. One of these wrecks appeared to have been the result of a Concord action. I'm guessing that it was something to do with the sort of "sport killing" that is common place here.
As capsuleers, we should be seeking higher planes of function and existence rather than the juvenile ways accentuated in systems like Jita. What will move us in that direction, I am not sure.
The Disciples of Ston bid you peace.

ODD HAPPENINGS, ODD PATTERNS
The bodies are beginning to accumulate from Jita mostly. In the Disciples of Ston Clone Body return service, a first has occurred. Today, we recovered a second clone body from the same owner. This is a sad benchmark that I am afraid will repeated the longer we work at this.
Today, I also witnessed the second pod self-destruct. I am sure that there is a sort of logic behind this, but I am want almost to hear what it is. Do I really want to know how little regard some have for their humanity? Will it drive me into the shadows of cynicism to know?
Lastly, I had just departed the station when a massive number of outlaw ship materialized and began to attack randomly. Concord destroyed them very quickly, but not one was podded. I have been critical of Concord in the past, but I must say that they take the utmost care not to pod. I must acknowledge that with gratitude and recognition.
I have entered a fray with a certain amount of conviction and zeal and I cannot reverse course. I must pursue the cause of abolition. I adopt a quote from one ancient, noble, emancipator of slaves who said, "If slavery is not wrong, then nothing is wrong." Even though the Disciples of Ston are to be forbearing and patient, I am weary of chin-rubbing, free intellectuals pondering slavery atop the fence of ambivalence. I discovered today, that most will argue their hardest when confronted with the guilt of their own inaction.
I am pleading with Concord to provide capsuleers with legal means to liberate slaves rescued in space encounters. Provide a means of training and accountability. Let those with abolitionist convictions act on those convictions with new tools. Let not the slaver float upon the raft of bureaucratic fear.
There is no such thing as one slave. Wherever there is a slave, there is the slave holder, imprisoned in his own spiritual darkness, ignorance, injustice, self-deception and self-invented religion that justifies his sin. Only when the slave is freed will the slave holder also be free.
The Disciples of Ston bid you peace.

HOW MIGHT YOU BEGIN BRAVE AMARRIAN?
The quote below was discovered in biographical literature from ancient times. The setting was a slave holding culture. The culture was also deeply theistic. The person quoted was a brave politician of the time. In the face of those who would use the religion of the time to justify slavery, this man gathered his nuggets and stated the obvious.
ôConsenting to slavery is a sacrilegious breach of trust, as offensive in the sight of God as it is derogatory from our own honor or interest of happinessö
No such statements from within a slave holding culture are without risk. The slave holders have defined faithful and true believers as those who do not counter the spiritually vulgar practice of slavery. Are there Amarrians who know in their hearts that their anti-slavery convictions indeed come from God and their true faith in God? You know who you are. Isn't time to say what you know is true? I specifically ask this of the capsuleer. You of all Amarrians have the "freedom" to speak independently.
If slavery is to end, its ending must begin with one Amarr voice followed by another and then another...

A GENEROUS DONATION
I while ago, I deposited 10 million ISK into the corporate account of the Disciples of Ston. This generous donation takes a lot of pressure off of us as an organization and frees us to go about our work. Our office rent is very reasonable in Korama and this amount will pay a lot of rental fees and provide for continued training for Manwe and any others who may come along in the future.
To the pilot who gave us this gift: We are humbled.

This is the truth! God created us all in his image and He loves us all equally. He wishes only that we will live lives that further His Kingdom and fulfill the purpose that he has given us; walk the path he has paved for us. Our God is not vengeful, and he does not wish for his peoples to be in bondage to each other. he is forgiving and all accepting. God loves us all equally. I know there are Amarrians out there that know this is the truth. Please, I implore you, do not be afraid to speak your mind. And for anybody who reads this that has been affected by a loss recently, or has lost their faith in God, or has yet to know his Grace, please do not be afraid to talk to Mr. Jaiga or me personally. THICK CLOUDS OF CHAOS
Have you ever had a dream in which you were trying to pitch a ball fast or trying to run a sprint, but it seemed as if you were under water. In your dream there was a great inertia preventing you from throwing the ball any distance or moving your leg fast enough to run. This dream is my reality.
Let me give you two examples. I see Jita as a place to attempt to reach pilots with a challenge to the standard greed and violence acceptable all around this universe. However, the thick cloud of chaos, particularly of greed and distrust is very hard to penetrate. Sometimes I am lucky to get through and maybe one pilot will take a break from the norm and explore something else; something of the intellect or emotion that harkens back to the best of human experience. The majority of time, the constant scamming and advertisement wipe away any message of substance one tries to communicate. No wonder people resort to violence. It is the only way they believe they will be heard.
Example two: I spoke to Manwe this evening and he was very dissappointed or rather disheartened. He had been responding to the young Amarrian who quiried about the value of freedom. He thought maybe she was beginning to recognize the contradiction in her support, nay her participation in slavery. Then, she speaks of slaves as "her flock." I do not ever believe I have seen Manwe more broken. I encouraged him to wait before responding. Let time soften the response a bit.
There are thick clouds of chaos in this Galaxy. Clouds of self-deception, ignorance, rationalization; clouds of indoctrination and propaganda; clouds of distrust and hatred. The young woman Manwe spoke of is in a cloud. When a slave holder begins to self-define as benevolent or worse yet as shepherd of a flock under her care, the challenge becomes worse than a silly dream; it becomes a nightmare.
When we define God in our own image and always make Him on "on our side" how does that ever help us discover truth and change for the better? Answering this young woman and cutting through her cloud will be a challenge. It will feel like pitching under water. Trying to capture the attention of the violence brokers and junk brokers of Jita will be like running the dash with leaden legs.
But, the Disciples must try.
The Disciples of Ston bid you persistence.

I have kept out of the abolition discussion until this point. If abolition is to become a movement in New Eden, you need legal and procedural infrastructure. You need legal means to begin to pressure slave holders; economic pressure, social pressure, and political pressure. Capsuleers need tools to accomplish this. If anyone who reads this is anti-slavery and would like to help, go to this thread on a new skill called abolitionist and indicate your support. Those who typically read and respond there will not support this initiative, so new voices are needed to press the power that be to provide new tools for abolition. If it is to happen, every avenue must be explored.
Those of you with better ideas, please support the initiative and add your corrections and ideas.
Thanks, Edaine

INTERESTING VISIT TO PIEKURA
To the very interesting pilot I met today in Piekura: Good luck with your upcoming surgery. Thanks for accepting the gift.
ON ABOLITION
Jamyl I declared, "Out there on the event horizon, a new age races toward us, and it is approaching fast. The Lord in his infinite grace has instructed me that the chains that fetter us will no longer be necessary in this new age of light and reason, neither the chains of hatred that restrain our minds nor the chains of indenture that restrain those less fortunate than ourselves."
Why do we need to say more? Why do we need to focus on abolition? Didn't the proclamation of the Empress take care of it?, No. First, there are the Khanid. They enslave any race and are not beholden to the Empress. Second, many loopholes have been found to circumvent the Empress' vision. Third, violations of the Empress' decree involved, ironically, enslavement of the violators families for generations. Children are now suffering for the sins of their fathers by being enslaved. Abolition is for them too.

Hello Ston
As the interesting pilot you met last night I wanted to thank you for showing me the core of the sun. I felt that words were not enough, so I also decided to thank you with a wardec.
The 1 day vote should wrap up tonight and then I get to know you and the disciples a lot better.
Toodles!

YOUR WELCOME MS. GOODMAN??
Um, the customary way to show thanks is not typically to declare war on the person your thanking. Usually you just say, "Thanks" or send a nice note or something. I am sure that having you in a state of war against me will me a novel experience.
In spite of your declaration of war,
The Disciples of Ston bid you peace

While the Disciples are quite pacifistic, I can assure you I am not.
Ston, please tell me if these claims on the part of Captain Goodman come to fruition.

I've also been taking note of the situation and stand by ready to defend your disciples if needed so you may continue to serve God uninterupted, should the situation escalate and the war become active.
Those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not be faint. |

It appears there may be a 24 hour delay in the completion of our vote. I foolishly thought I could offer Ston such a gift without first getting the blessing of our spiritual leader, Rosie O'Donnell. She has been consulted and we expect her blessing sometime tomorrow.
As some on here have rushed to Ston's aid threatening violence against Rosie's Chub Club, I ask of you, what would Ston do?
