Ok all joking aside I will admit I was impressed by the reactions of the EVE-O forums when that person made attacks on CCP Punkturis.
Although there are times when we all act like fools, jerks and well EvE players, I can honestly say I was proud at that point to be a member of this community. Also I think Chribba would have happily crawled down the internet connection to teach that guy some manners. Any Spelling, gramatical and literary errors made by me are included free of charge.

Hey James315,
How's about this as etiquette?
Stop slandering and hating on players whose playstyle you disagree with.
And stop producing ****-style propaganda on the internets.

In my short time playing, I found that it's just on the forums people act like idiots, the people I have met so far in the game seem to be quite friendly and willing to help, I've been invited to chat with over 10 people I met around space so far, all of which have decided they must tell me how to play and what to do, but I s'pose thats friendly if not a little self-righteous.
In EVE as in life, I treat people how I expect to be treated, and I would expect the same from them
I am after all playing a game here and if it's not fun for both myself and my opponent then theres no point. |

James 315 wrote:If you've been on the internet for awhile, you've probably heard of the term "netiquette". Forums, chatrooms, etc. have their own customs and codes of conduct. We know there are some standards in EVE, for example, rules against using in-game channels for racism. Some EVE organizations, such as GoonSwarm with its "cultural revolution", have sought to improve the atmosphere for female gamers by discouraging the use of sexist language. There are even some areas of space in which players agree not to use profanity in local. What do you think? Is there an unspoken standard of behavior that most EVE players adhere to, or does it completely vary depending on where you are in the game? Do you think EVE players are more or less polite than those who play other games, such as FPSes? Are EVE players too uptight, or not courteous enough, in your experience? -I've been on the internet since '98 and this is the first instance I've ever seen of the word "netiquette" ever.
-Forums, chatrooms, ect have codes of conduct because moderators force it upon their users. It's not a choice the users choose to employ.
-Again, codes of conduct are there because moderators force it to be there. Moderators do not tolerate racism in public channels. If it weren't for the hand of the moderator, the channels would run rampant with all sorts of offensive things.
-Goon "cultural revolution"? Really? Come on now.
Look, etiquette/code of conduct/civility and all that nonsense is only present on the internet when moderators enforce it by swinging the ban hammer. It is not something that develops naturally on the internet nor will it ever be. Most people on the internet have egos the size of planets, most especially EvE players.
You will NEVER get EvE players to abide by a set of standards, ethics, or etiquette unless you have the power to force it upon them (and even then....). That's not how social interactions on the internet work.
You might as well waffle on about if there is, or should there be, world peace because it's a good thing. It'll never happen because that's not how the world functions.

Don't know what your "minerbumping" read is about, but to be honest, after reading your manifesto I doubt I'm missing anything. I'm pretty sure it's just hate regurgitated in twenty different ways. Or as they say, same ****, just a different toilet.

Seriously?
Netiquette
Webster's dictionary shows the first known use back in '82. The word has been in use forever (in internet years.)
Of course this explains why you come across as a tool in your post, you obviously don't understand how online communities develop their own behaviors. (I'll give a hint, its not due to a ban hammer.)
As well, here is an interesting link to possibly have some self reflection on: Eternal September

I'm not above the troll itself , i dont think i am better than anyone else. However I am above the trolling action, i dont do it. And yeah the fact that I do will be a police officer in the future says a lot about me in my case I care about my future I dont need logs being pulled up during a background check showing me dropping the f bomb in local or linking obscene links and whatnot.
