In my short time playing, I found that it's just on the forums people act like idiots, the people I have met so far in the game seem to be quite friendly and willing to help,

In EVE as in life, I treat people how I expect to be treated, and I would expect the same from them

I am after all playing a game here and if it's not fun for both myself and my opponent then theres no point.

If you've been on the internet for awhile, you've probably heard of the term "netiquette". Forums, chatrooms, etc. have their own customs and codes of conduct. We know there are some standards in EVE, for example, rules against using in-game channels for racism. Some EVE organizations, such as GoonSwarm with its "cultural revolution", have sought to improve the atmosphere for female gamers by discouraging the use of sexist language. There are even some areas of space in which players agree not to use profanity in local.

What do you think? Is there an unspoken standard of behavior that most EVE players adhere to, or does it completely vary depending on where you are in the game? Do you think EVE players are more or less polite than those who play other games, such as FPSes? Are EVE players too uptight, or not courteous enough, in your experience?

If you're referring to MinerBumping, then I suggest you read it more. Perhaps you've formed your opinion of it based on someone else's propaganda?

I'm surprised to hear that. I first encountered the term very soon after connecting to the internet. I suppose that's been to the benefit of those who interact with me, as I'm just as concerned with politeness online as offline.

I personally dont do any of the above as im a college student and I'm getting ready to join the police academy.

Thing is in EVE it's not really trolling, its just another form of PVP.

And as for your feeling that you're somehow above a good troll because you're a college student and planning to enroll in the police academy, good luck with that.

And yeah the fact that I do will be a police officer in the future says a lot about me in my case I care about my future I dont need logs being pulled up during a background check showing me dropping the f bomb in local or linking obscene links and whatnot. Im not going to ruin my future over a game. I am there to pvp and have fun .
