Seriously CCP whats with the massive time gaps between expedited transfers in P.I? I ship all my stuff to my advanced industry colony to stock it up, i'd already made a transfer from my launchpad to one of my sotrage facilities earlier and it said wait 15 minutes. So i thought i can live with that. I actually forgot all about it and when I came back on after DT hours later to stock my storage facilites its telling me 3 hours 10 minutes till next transfer!! Can anyone explain this? I haven't touched the colony at all. Is there a way round it? 3 hours till i can do 1 little movement of commodities when it should have been ready for next transfer hours ago... your having a laugh!! Glitch? The Stevedores need to have a f***ing word and get on with it

I seem to remember that the transfer times are based on the link's capacity that you transfer through. Have you tried upgrading the link that you transfer on? That may lower the time.

route to and from launch pads instead of storage

^^This
The greater the capacity of your links the greater the volume of material they can transfer in a given period of time.

Storage facilities.
Ah, there's your problem. Get rid of 'em. As Rattus mentioned, route everything in and out of your Launchpad and you'll never have to worry about that expidited transfer thing again.

actually this is a big problem for me, I lost the capibilitiy of having 3 additional AIF because I had to remove the silos (4)
My setup is a production planet and with the 4 silos I was able to have 2 launchpads and 14 AIFs. The expided transfer thing said I had to wait like 18 hours or something ridiculous.
If I am trying to transfer a full silo (5k) and have completly upgraded links anyone know the waiting time?

Edited by: Azerick Koslova on 01/05/2011 16:03:49 I just tried upgrading the link between the storage facility and the launchpad w/no affect on the wait time. Could capacity only matter to "routes" and not expedited transfers?
check that...it went from 18 hours to 12 minutes - had to leave planet mode and go back in to see it change.

Seriously, don't use storage and command centers to launch things, use spaceports. Not only does it mean that your launches are cheaper but you get to launch up to 10,000m3 per launch so it is much physically faster. Also spaceports take less power than storage silos and power is usually the limiting factor on a planet.
You will also save power by being able to get away with smaller links.
Finally you only have to stop one place, the customs office, to pick stuff up rather than repeatedly warping to every launched can.
The only place where command center launches might be beneficial is in very hostile space where the customs office is camped. Really though, I've operated in low sec since PI started and this has never been that big of a problem for me. Although, to be fair, I did switch systems once because of frequent pirate gate camps.

I have used some storage facilities on pure processing planets, since these tend to be CPU limited as opposed to grid limited, and in my case it is very scenario specific - I may leave the system for an extended period of time and I want to be able to 'reload' the launch pads that are feeding my processors. I cannot import them from the customs office while out of system, but I can transfer from storage silos while I am elsewhere. Anyway, I can only load a little less than two days processing and have to return each day to process unless I put silos in. With silos, I can pretty easily double that. At some point, ofc, you end up having to cut back on processors to put in silos/larger links/more links, I suppose, and then you are lowering the efficiency of the site.

what is expedited transfer? it seems like my stuff moves instantly from the spaceport to the factory or the extractor to the spaceport.

You use it when moving stuff from one storage unit to another (ex. storage facility -> command center)
