Edited by: ARMOURED ASSAULT on 21/04/2011 18:57:44 Ok so i have recently returned to eve after a short break and found that dram prices have gone from being 7-80 now at 55 million isk? Has anything changed in game recently with updates etc to affect this or is it just the natural market changes?

You know, it was my theory that the recent price deflations were the result of manufacturers getting too happy with making items.
But now I've seen a trend towards deflation across the board. Many popular (or previously popular) items are hardly moving and going down in price, quickly. Some say its the summer slump, but I'm beginning to think it may be the result of the anomaly nerf. With less money going around, there is less money to buy shiny faction ships, thus deflation.
But this is just an opinion based on anecdotal evidence from an insuficient sample (the items I trade) and should not be seen as gospel.
If its right though, there may be significant deflation for everything across the board.

There are far more Angel agents in Curse than there is in Fountain (100 vs 20).

The fact thay they, and many other ships are on the market now, and not cumbersome contracts, has a lot to do with it.

This. Most of the faction ships have fallen sharply in price since being added to the regular market. There is a lot of information asymmetry in the contracts market because of the cludgy UI, the lack of price history, and the inability to clearly see prices/volumes. There's also a sticky pricing issue with contracts because changing your price involves cancelling your contract. Doing so forfeits your deposit/brokers fees which isn't trivial.
There's also less of a motivation to lower your price on contracts. Unlike the regular market where the lowest priced item ALWAYS sells first for a given location, the same isn't true for contracts. I rarely price my contracts at the lowest contract sale price in jita. My stuff still sells.
By comparison the market system UI is much cleaner (relatively), you can easily see pricing, available volume, and price history. Lastly prices tend to move very fast because you can change your price every 5 minutes and it only cost 100isk to lower your price.
Said another way: the market is much more efficient than contracts.

Fine with me. The less Drams being flown, the better.

More people (in this case 0.0 people with sucky nullsec space) doing missions for cash, which means more LPs earned, thus more drams available.

That implies less demand.
Me thinks it's because of higher supply that prices drop, which would have the result of a lot more dramiels being flown.

Higher supply than demand. People realized how much isk can be had with them and created an over supply.
Also somone dropped more than 200 of them on the market in 2 orders, and undercut the next lowest price by about 6mil isk. Once that gets eaten up and long as nobody else has 200 in stock prices will rise to 62/63mil again.

I'd say it is a summer/deflation thing, it'll go back up.

+1
Blueprint price is what affects Dramiel price, so there's Dramiel demand and Dramiel Blueprint supply.... and guess what? Sometimes people keep investing LP in oversupplied stuff.
There's Dramiels, there's Cynabals, there's Machariels. The decline in Machariel prices over the last 12 months can be seen as being caused by a) drop in mineral price b) drop in blueprint price (=less demand and/or more LP available) c) a combination thereof.
People realized there were one or two millions to make by trading Dramiels after they became accessible via normal market. Plenty of LP got invested into buying Dramiel Blueprints, rather than spreading out buying Cynabal and Machariel Blueprints, too. I think this is round #2 of the same "Let's try to make a quick buck investing Angel LP into Dramiel Blueprints" approach. Keep an eye on Machariel prices!

Since the CA nerf TEST has been heavily advertising running NPC missions as a means of generating income (with the hope of bullying Godfathers into leaving NPC Fountain as a side-effect) and Angel missions are far more attractive than Serpentis.
TEST's official staging system has been relocated from 6VDT to LIWW to be closer to NPC space and there have been defense/mission running fleets pretty much 23/7 to help people grind standings in (relative) safety. Also frequent roams/ganking fleets (titan-bridge 30 Drakes on top of a 5-man gatecamp, lol) to clear gates and undocks during primetime.
The "wishful thinking" part refers to the issues of standing grind taking a long time (many people started out with heavily negative standings to the pirate factions) and 6VDT still being the de-facto hub (although LIWW is definitely much more populated now than it used to be).
In theory, once enough TEST members have access to lvl4s, one would expect a much higher supply of Angel (& Serpentis) LP.

I bought up about 80 Drams weds night at 55.5mil or so each, friday and today already sold out making about 4-5mil each before taking taxes into account.
So they still sell quick, just to many bpc's on market.
