Edited by: Kelheim on 26/04/2011 00:21:01 The last week or so, I have experienced intermittent connectivity issues with Eve Online. Randomly throughout the day it will loose connectivity and drop all packets for about 30sec-1min.
Using pingplotter as suggested, I have narrowed down the problem to one of Global Crossing's routes. I have attempted to notify them but they have refused to field my call (They said I wasn't a customer).
The problems happens somewhere between 64.211.195.141 - > 204.245.39.42 The route belongs to global crossing and it drops large groups of packets throughout the day.
I will attach links to the mentioned pingplotter log.
Does anyone have any idea on how to get through to them that something is wrong? Please help!

I, also, have experienced many disconnects over the last 10 days. After reading about all the other people having the same kind of problems, I'm hoping there's something being done about it.
By the way, my ISP came out and checked my end and everything is fine here. No problems at all with any other internet-related activity.

I called GBLX, got the same answer of not being a "customer." But even that, should be a lie as I am a customer of my ISP who is their customer. No?
I contacted my ISP about pursuing this issue, still waiting for a response.

Global Crossing is part of Level 3. Level 3 runs Packetexchange. Eve is hosted at Packetexchange.
Therefore CCP is the customer and its entirely up to them to sort this - assuming it IS actually GBLX/L3, which I'm not convinced about.
The number of "routing issues" since CCP put their shiny new FCP in frankly beggars belief.

Update : When upgraded to a DOCSIS 3.0 modem, suddenlink(My ISP) is now using above.net to sent its data to the eve servers. Global Crossing appears to still be having issues but this may help those affected by this if no other solution presents its self in the near future.

OH, and typically if you as a user WERE to lose your connection due to connectivity... the EVE client doesn't just ****ing close down entirely, only to pop up at the login screen a minute later. That is not how a typical EVE disconnect has EVER WORKED in the past, beyond 3-4 months ago when this real problem surfaced.

i can only share my experience... dunno if its related
like many others ive been having trouble with eve crashing since ~ new char creating system been noticing "failed to download texture/picture/" blah blah in logserver all of the crashes seemed to come from failed downloads of char images to the cache
i disconnected my router and and hoocked it directly to the modem im not having trouble since. it sounds like my router is borked but besides EVE im not having issues in other games..
again dont know if its related

Actually that's exactly how it has always worked at least for the last 5 years or smthg. --

Edited by: IoWalker on 01/05/2011 20:45:43 yep. you're one of "those". welcome to your station i guess.
yeah anyway for those living in reality, EVE crashes, you experience it in game: delayed or nullified module activation, guns stop shooting, but your ass is still in the goddamned game until EVE tells you it is not.
This actual problem: client completely crashes, you do nothing, client pops up a minute later at the login screen all by itself.
To you the lamer, **** yourself and make sure you slice down the river, not across the street kbai.

Uhhm no. I'm saying that literally every single disconnect I had in the last 5 years went down in exactly that way.
Thanks for the unsolicited insults though. Nothing like getting insulted by someone who barely can construct a coherent sentence. --

This is for the trolls that have suddenly taken an active notice of this thread.
http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1502080
Read that... its not a personal pc problem. It is a confirmed and proven routing problem with global crossing on the server po3-20G.ar6.LON3.gblx.net [67.17.73.93]. So trolls, shut up, we want this problem fixed so that we can play the game without disconnections every 3 ****ing seconds.

I don't have the problem myself, but you should be able to get around it with a proxy of some kind. Tor would probably work, but the speed won't be great (http://www.torproject.org/).

As you can see, its always the 6th hop or after where the problem occurs. And for the last time, it is not a local problem. If it were, I wouldnt have made it past hop 4.

Edited by: Pr1ncess Alia on 03/05/2011 00:13:53 Jesus Christ what is it with people and traceroutes and ping plotters?
See all those "request timed out"s ?
NORMAL
Notice how you have no packet loss to the last hop? (edit;compare to OP picture showing the loss propagating through all the subsequent hops)
Traceroutes and smoke pings and whatever ******ed utility you have only shows the path, it's not the obligation of anything in that path (including the destination) to actually answer your icmp request.
Want to find out if you have loss? Ping something at the destination / in the path that you KNOW is giving you a prioritized response. How do you know that? Not my problem.

Ahhh another person who can not see that doing a tracert also PINGS the server. Do you see that a trace route pings the server 3 times? I bet you didn't. The smoking gun is the simple fact that every single time a tracert is run at the EXACT moment we start to get disconnected, is the fact that the GBLX hop fails or one of the ones after it fails.
And no. Ping timeouts are not normal. 1 of the 3 timeouts are pretty normal for cross global connections, but all three are very rare, especially over multiple hops.
Also if you look at every tracert being run, the hops handled by suddenlink are working just fine. That means that it is NOT a problem at the client side. Do a little research before you start badmouthing actual evidence that PROVES the problem is at global crossing's side.
