So there I was....mining in peace in Low Sec when suddenly, local spikes 47 red skulls and 34 of them show up around my poor mining Pilgrim!!
And I noticed that none of them were in actual pirate ships except for the off Dramiel and Cynabal. This was a crime.
How can pirates pirate in non-pirate ships?
Buff pirate ships! I want to see more pirates in Gilas, Ashimmu, Vigilants and whatnot!

Hm. I like the Ye Olde Pirate Ship designs but I must say that I do prefer something akin to Skies of Arcadia Valuan Warships or the Delphinus.

Talking of cool looking ships, we recently bought the BR of the film 'The Last Airbender'. Damn those fire nation ships are cool (or hot, depending how you look at it).
No really, it was for the kids.

You're right, the cartoon is way better, but I still enjoyed the film.

if you get mad about pirates, STOP MINING IN LOW SEC. Its actually pretty simple. U mad cause you lost your retriever? I think that forcing pirates to pirate in pirate ships.....(yeah I JUST SAID THAT) is a terrible idea. I own almost all the pirate ships and every single one of them are faction fit/pirate mod fit. I bring out my Bhaalgorn so I can bling bling everywhere and tank 420k EHP while i drop in the middle of a 10 man war target fleet. I spent the money....I should be able to do what I want. Its always the pilots choice whether or not to lose their ship. Between aggression mechanics and knowing what you are doing inside the game it almost forces a pilot to make the right decision.
After the number 1 rule of "dont fly anything you cant afford to lose", I do belileve that "dont mine in low sec and whine when you lose your ship" is up there at #2 or #3 at the very least

Instead audio and visual cues to show a pirate has entered system:
'thump, thump, thump' of the peg leg.
'squawk!' of the parrot.
Blur-o-vision as rum vapours waft over the hapless prey.

They can fly whatever they want. And Pirate ships are already superior to their navy counterparts. Problem being that they are expensive and since pirates risk dieing everytime they commence a raid they can't afford to replace and fit a pirate ship over and over and over again.

I agree. There are tons of pirate variants of regular ships out there like the Gurista and the Serpentis models that it would be awesome to see, plus the other half of unique Angel frig hulls that are only used by rats in missions.

Nevermind the ships,
When pirates enter the system, the nebula's should darken, sheet lightening should be seen, and the distant but approaching sound of criminals chanting in unison should be heard...
'Heave... Heave.... HEAVE'
... silence (even the lightening stops for a moment, mining lasers make no sound etc..)...

The easy solution would be to simply make pirate ships cheaper and easier to attain...
But that has the rather undesirable side-effect of letting carebears like me get their filthy, grubbly little hands on them more easily.

No! Make pirating more profitable so all the pirates can afford them. Pilot more loaded freighters through lowsec please.
