Agreed with the OP.
It's pointless stealing the missionobjective and the only purpose of stealing it is to annoy somebody. If CCP thinks its all okay, its okay too to keep them busy with petitions of this type: Annoying other people. They even get payed for it :p

Of course there's a point and a purpose: to make people pay to get the items back. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

I used to ninja. There were several times where I ninjad the mission objective where the object wasn't just replaceable off the market. I offered it back to the missioner at a very reasonable price (seriously). They always refused. I would warp back to the mission and check on it and the mission was reset. If CCP is going to do that then just make ninjaing illegal rather than sayingit is legitimate but then allowing the victims an out.

This might be true for a few, but most people just seem to do this to troll in local and be annoying. Quite alot use t2 ships and have skills to do much more profitable activities. Also IF they offer a price for the mission objective, usually its higher than the mission is worth.

Originally by: Pteranodon I can understand the stealing of an item to illicit combat between one or more players. You have a choice whether to engage or not.
However when a player steals your mission objective and you choose not to engage then you have the possible loss of standings with your agent or go through the route of a petition.
It's simple. The tears alone are priceless to those who feed off of them. Practically speaking, a mission objective will easily sell for +10mil isk in contracts. And they do, often. So financially, there is an incentive to steal your objective.
When I ninja'd I would steal the mission objective if given the opportunity. I mean, why wouldn't I? But, I always offered it back to the missioner for exactly what I could sell it for on the open market. The number of missioners that bought back their objective was exactly zero. And so, I would sell it on the market via contracts.
Don't try to rationalize ways to prevent it, appealing to a ninja's sense of fairness or the greater good for the game. It's simple economics. The ninja has your objective and can sell it for a nice chunk of isk.
Start treating your objective as if it's worth something because it is. So, the next time you have a mission with an objective you need to collect make sure you're not +70km away in a BS traveling at 115m/s before you unlock it. Don't unlock it early in the mission leaving it to sit while you clear the rest of the mission. And for God's sakes, don't clear the mission, unlock the object and then go get your salvager. I mean, if you could put isk in a can, you wouldn't jettison 10mil isk and leave it to sit there, would you?

Lies.
The Damsel is worth between 15 and 30 mil making her as good as a middling faction item drop. The OP could very easily spend a day or two at a Lv 3 mission hub and yoink one from some other mission bear. Resources in EVE are meant to be fought over. Glad to see so many people are advocating lying to GMs. I'm sure that's allowed.

Nobody actually pays for something they can get free with a petition.

You can make a petition and tell them that the item didn't spawn instead of it being stolen.
I got missions reset and items given more than once that way.
That's abusing the system and wasting GM-time. No wonder I have to wait so long for a response when I send a legitimate petition.
You waste my time, I waste yours.
Thats it. They love to annoy people so why can't we love to annoy too and everyone is ****ed in game?

A learning experience for sure. Maybe look at making it harder for someone to scan u down? Move around; if using drones, pull them in ever once in awhile, warp off and come back if the mission is taking awhile. Scanning down drones, imo, is the fastest and easiest to find someone in a mission. Just a few suggestions.
Good luck ---------------------

Sometimes mission's mess up and cannot be completed just petition the mission as messed up and the GM's reset it.
