is it just me or does CCP seem to be going somewhat backwards in development to incarna,
let me explain this with 3 vids.
2005 THIS video was released showing a full corporate office walking avatars and in station hanger and balcony, all in all looked awesome as was
2007 THIS was shown two years later we are shown and even demo machines were around to let folks walk around there own quarters as well as the station and bar room, though i dont belive there was anything of a balcony to viewing ship at all or corporate offices or star map as was shown in previus video.
2011 THIS is shown, a quick video of a single unfinished room and an untextured balcony useing already in game hangers to view ship, no station promonade no bars no corporate offices no awesome 3d holo starmap.also relased on duality with untextured balcony and a very unstable build.
so whats happened in the last 6 years that its gone from promonade corporate offices holo maps and bars down to a single one races unfinished and partialy untextured room.
of course there is the updating of characters to the new look but after that everything from the 2008 demo seemed awesome, apart from the dancers not dancing , but that could have been fixed with a simple patch right??

ITTigerClawIK, it's simple. CCP loves sharing their vision for Eve, so much so that they sometimes get a little over exuberant, and since they're often 5 years ahead of the technology with thier ideas, our expectations aren't met because we expect the vision to match the reality NOW. Notice that they are very careful not to make specific, dated promises.

Incarna is just a spin-off of WoD technology. It's not like the human avatar aspect adds enough value to Eve gameplay they'd invest all that effort just for it. We don't have Incarna because WoD (and Dust) are taking more time and effort than they expected.

Actual reason is that CCP is, in fact, role players. They're currently trying to write in the Antediluvians as the Endehuanni*.
*) "Not any more human" super-duper Dark Jove mentioned in a single EVE short story best forgotten.

Never heard of WOD and I'm guessing it's an European MMO .... even google comes up with vague websites into this game. No fan site or anything official?

World of Darkness is a 20 year old White Wolf IP that began with the Vampire: the Masquerade pen-and-paper RPG, and which acts as a (somewhat) coherent cross-over world for 23 different games spread over 3 main historical eras.
White Wolf merged with CCP five years ago, and now the original WoD (or, perhaps more accurately, V:tM) setting is being turned into an MMO. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |
