Howdy all =).
How big is the chance of CCP printing a book??
I think that most of the short stories and other stuff that CCP write on the subject EVE is really good.....and since I live a second life in EVE also very interesting.
I would really much like to see these short stories (ex "Ruthless" by Tony Gonzales, and others perhaps all of the info under the tab "backstory" on EVE-online.com) printed in a real Hardbacked book or even just a paperbacked book.
Even though I have read most of it I would by a copy.
Any one else got thoughts on this subject??

They could make an eBook of them all at least. In fact, I think I may download them all and make one for myself
A printed copy of all the fiction, in hardback, would get an order from me too though -- ** All accounts cancelled - have fun guys ** |

Probably a book of short stories, a history of the development cycle upto Exodus, and some artwork/screenshots. All in a paperback/coffee table sized book.
I'd buy it.

If you think you can do a better job, go find yourself a datacentre to host a box, get a copy of Visual Studio, and STFU.

Because you muppet, after 3-6 months it would be hideously out of date

The curent manual I got when buying the CD the first time is so out of date, it is more usefull with Starc Craft Wouldnt hurt if they released a new one witch is more usefull after Exodus with all the new stuff etc.
A book would be cool however ! _____________________________________________

Yep, would be a good coffee-table hogger, and a nice way to force/recruit friends to play EVE.
Something in a similar style to travel books (example linky).

Before they get round to writing a book, I would think it prudent for them to write a MANUAL for this game. You guys think too highly of CCP IMO.

On current form: Chapters 3, 7, 9 and 12 would be missing. Chapter 6 would be removed because someone, somewhere said it wasn't glowing enough about pirates. Chapters 3 and 9 would show up six months late and full of typos. Chapters 7 and 12 would be quietly forgotten about when the sequel was announced.
Oh, and the "Note From The Author" page would be blank, possibly with a pattern of rolling tumbleweed.

Edited by: Skogen Gump on 11/02/2005 05:52:03 It's just the Geek in me but I think an EVE technical manual with information about the history of EVE Gate and some of the technology, like the stuff here, would be really cool ... nice big coffee table size book :)

Ok, if you think about it, fiction guys would be the ones writing a book, do you really want them to write a manual?

They wrote the patch notes then? That was a work of pure fiction......

Even the pdf manual doesn't cover some basics that just don't change substantively over time. Actually it might, I probably only perused 2/3s of it to kill time. I still have to explain optimals and falloffs to every new player. Not that I mind, but it is true that there is a mountain of static literature.
Of course, I also like that bits of information about eve is littered throughout the huge and sprawling playerbase-created databases forums and players themselves. It plays into the aura of eve as taking place in a schizophrenic, futurist landscape. EVE certainly is blessed with one of the most creative, studious, and well-propertied populations.

I think they should release a manual saying that Charisma and Willpower kick ass and are the best attributes.
Oh wait, they already did...

A range of books are in the future, including more fiction, artwork and perhaps even a "technical readout" of the ships in the game. There has been discussion about a quarterly EVE magazine/suppliment with ship fitting suggestions from TomB. The online Player Guide will continue to be expanded and kept up to date.
Hardcopy books were delayed due to the Exodus release crunch, a lack of time and resources. Now that time and resources have freed up, some effort will be returned to this project.

hardcopy books are not that useful as we all know they become rather dated very quickly (the original manual). An online version is much easier to update and quite sensible for MMOG's.

Now Wrangler, if you think about it, the original user manual was a work of pure fiction - so why not let them re-write it? Might as well compound the errors, eh?

Let them get around to printed instructions and a guide before we worry about fiction. ------------------------------------- You are all worthless, and weak.

A nice hard/soft back book would be really nice. With all the short stories, chronicles and then some info pages on ships like have a pic of their bp as the background and then the hosrtory of the ship, the stats (not nessacery the ingame ones like cap recharge but things like size and age) and maybe even some short stories from the eve-online galnet library forum ( I am sure there are lots of writers out there who would love to write a nice story for a compotition to get it in a book)
I just hope that the book would be available from places other then the eve-store which imo is way too overpriced atm.

Please find continental publishers though. I have a sneaking suspicion that I won't be able to afford the shipping costs otherwise.
