As promised, I am publishing new blog links about CSM 6 activities here. This latest one focuses on CCP's messaging stumbles with the Eve Online community and what CSM 6 is doing about it. Enjoy.
Lack of Communication
Hopefully we'll see something in the next few days that shows they 'get it' and I can start blogging and talking about happy things. I'm tired of all the negative crap tbh but it's been a frustrating road to walk lately.
Another effort the CSM has started is a thread here to make sure it is public record exactly what we unanimously support in terms of EVE Online's resource allocation:
CSM Statement regarding CCP refocusing
Have a read and please give the thread your support. Don't 'like' it tho because Trebor is whoring up the likes and rubbing our noses in it, the bastard.

Quote:Certain folks in CCP are frustrated as well and are becoming more and more vocal about how communication with the players continues to fall short of where it could be. So, yes, I believe it is worth the effort of the CSM to keep trying and for players to hang on just a bit longer.
imo, this is the big takeaway. Do I expect things to get better? Do I expect to stick around after I find some other way to occupy my time? No. Could CCP regain enough of my trust to get more involved with empire/community building again? I'm not sure... maybe. But "maybe" is definitely more than the "no" I'd have given flat out not too long ago. In fact, not too long ago I said I'm just along for the ride to watch EVE die. |

So which player actions have they listened to if not our words?
Based on CCP's recent form I would be highly skeptical that this is little more than damage control in the form of a few FiS goodies with a healthy dash of spin.
Money talks, everything else is fluff. Obviously it's only taken three months of a hit to subscriptions for CPP to go from "Screw you, $1,000 jeans are the future!" to "We hear you! Oh god we hear you'".
The cash position of CCP must be worse than we realized. |

I think the first line of the first response to the blog sums it up better than one o' them fancy thousand word pictures...

To me its strange seeing CCP bending over backwards to give people who don't know what they want what they want.
Here's some more comedy gold.

See CCP, it cant just be new content. It has to be what I like. And by "I" I mean all 10,000 actual players, and 300k+ alts.
And if you only do something I like a little bit, I will cry about it on my alt.

Why is is so shocking that people that pay to play EVE want to pay for content they actually enjoy? I 'hate' PI because it's not even half finished and completely boring as hell. There's a lot of **** you are supposed to be able to do in PI that never made it in and may never happen unless CCP finishes the feature. Seleene's Sandbox - My Blog, where I say stuff. CCP should apply that "listen to players actions" thingy.

HOnestly Seleene I feel sorry for you dealing with CCP. Zulu was happy to call us all "rabble" at the weekend so I dont really see any signs of them listening.
My patience with CCP pretty much ran out at that point. I admire the fact you guys are still going back for more. |

PI is boring as hell, mining is as boring as PI. I do both.
Selene, don't get me wrong, I would love to see PI improved and/or 'finished'. But denying that CCP put the content in there is a completely different thing than saying "I don't like the content". And since "content they actually enjoy" is 100% subjective, there's no point in beating that dead horse.

Yeah, that was a serious "WTF?!" and he got an earful from several of us over that. I don't know where that came from or how it was thought would be a good idea. I believe part of the problem is mainly because he / CCP has a general idea of what they are going to do and are excited about it. The problem, as myself and the other CSM's are hammering them about, is that we don't officially know anything yet. The counter-argument to that is that CCP is gun shy atm and wants to make sure it's got everything laid out and ready to present so they don't look dumb again by over-promising.

This CSM is pretty serious about trying to get some very specific **** done and remind CCP over and over that Spaceships should be the #1 priority of resource allocation in EVE. Time will tell if we accomplish that. Seleene's Sandbox - My Blog, where I say stuff. Follow Seleene on Twitter |

I remember those promises very well. They talked about planetary sectors and treaties and the effects of overproduction / pollution. None of which ever materialized. |

Mining sucks and should be more fun. Fun = sometimes the mining lasers hit a chunk of bad ore and it explodes, taking the miner with it. That's fun, right?
Seriously, I think it's insane that there has been literally nothing done with mining since EVE went live. There has been talk of mining comets, rings around planets, hunting space whales... whatever! There are ways to improve on such a basic feature but it continues to languish.
Cipher Jones wrote:Selene, don't get me wrong, I would love to see PI improved and/or 'finished'. But denying that CCP put the content in there is a completely different thing than saying "I don't like the content".
My main issue continues to be that CCP needs to finish what they start. Factional Warfare, the Sov System, P.I., it's all part of the same pattern - "Let's do this new and cool thing it will be awesome OH LOOK A BUTTERFLY!!!!" and then we get Sansha Zombies and high heels worth more than two fully fit battleships. Argh!!!!

Very true, but there's always room for improvement, especially in things that aren't finished. Seleene's Sandbox - My Blog, where I say stuff. Follow Seleene on Twitter |

Treaties was actually one of the last things I worked on before I left CCP. It was design complete as part of the planned iterations on the Dominion sov system (which was itself a half finished mess) and would have been in last years spring expansion had my team not gotten pulled over to P.I. And, yep, P.I. was originally supposed to have some PVP elements in it but all that got side-tracked as well.
Myself and the rest of the CSM are waiting to see what CCP proposes to do about all of this in the future. They've reached a critical point in the development of their flagship property. Seleene's Sandbox - My Blog, where I say stuff. Follow Seleene on Twitter |
