honestly, do you realy think that roaming in low sec you will find just solo pilots? In most cases you will find gate camps and lone pirates with friends very close. If you will get agressed by somebody with not enough dps, ythere is 90% chanches that he will still be able to block you there until friend come.
If you want low sec ratting use frigates, T2 if you can use them (ishkur, wolf, harpy are all good choises). Your drake will survive only against a lone noob, not againt organized camps or experienced pirate with nearby friends.

Never said I was going alone.
However, since I do not have experience at it, this is very helpful.
Anyone running fully solo in Low Sec is only going to be able to do so for so long. I get that. Sustained Damage |

So, does this look a bit better? I am giving up some slots for Capacitor, with this setup and my skills I have just over 6 minutes of capacitor (if something is close enough for me to run the Nos its 20 minutes).
If I pull the Cap Relay and Recharger I can fit an additional BCS and have 3 minutes of capacitor (which in this situation may be 2 minutes too long anyhow). SHould I refine the fit further?

Why not just use what I suggested? Cap stability in a PvP ship means you aren't pushing it hard enough, unless you're POS bashing. If one of the hypothetical situations I mentioned happens, you either only need about 30-45 seconds of cap, or your dead. You can go out and successfully rat in a complete mission Drake if you want, but you're setting yourself up for a killmail if you do. You're looking for something you can fight with, should you be grabbed.

Yea, after I posted that I realized that I was still being cautious. A couple of minutes of Cap should be plenty. I put the BCS back in place and am considering what I do with the free mid slot.
Thanks for the advice. Sustained Damage |

I do all my ratting in assault ships. Usually an Ishkur, sometimes and Enyo if I'm feeling froggy. every now and then I'll fire up my comet or daredevil, but for the most part, a frig assault ship rats just fine, and if someone warps in on you, you're already rockin some drones, it's pretty easy to scare someone off, or go toe to toe with em.
Good luck. Make it funky! - Renge |

Bad Fits are bad.
If you're expecting any PvP fit Extenders, not Purgers. You lose a bit of tanking, but you end up with an assinine shield buffer.

Now im missing what you are going to do. Low sec ratting its quite easy, you can kill everything usings frigs or AF just for efficiency.
You dont need anything bigger and even solo its a joke. What's the point og gang of BC's for belt ratting? O_o the isk hour will be awfull.
Or you are looking for exploration sites (cosmic signatures)? In that case sometimes you could need a bc/bs, but nothing you cant do solo and you dont find them so easilly, most of them are doable in an af too.

We are planning on being in the same system or close at hand for support and doing various things (PI, Ratting, ect). Hence the need to be able to hang if things go pareshaped. However, if I am alone I want to be able to either get out or hold out till I get help. Sustained Damage |

If things go **** up, you're ****ed anyway mate. Fly the smaller, faster, cheaper, and more agile ship.
Hell if you're just belt ratting low and doing pi with your mates, use a bloody t1 frigate gang and make a wolf-pack of it when you're bored. You'll learn to pvp without gutting your wallet and make your stay in lowsec all the more enjoyable.
