Anyone have one of the May 2011 iMacs? I'm curious what performance is like with the new graphics chips. I'm holding off on ordering one until the SSD models are shipping and benchmarked.

I just bought a new iMac 27", the basic one with radeon HD 6770m. I'm coming back playing after 3 years or so, so i didn't test the game in all its features, but today I did a lvl4 with no problems at all. I use a lower resolution than max one tho, because fonts are really too small in max res, playing in fullscreen. The game works fine, just happened to crash once or twice while i was docked.
I've played for 3 days now, i'll let u know if there will be problems

No problem on my iMac except for small fonts, maybe my eyes a little better as I haven't had to adjust to a lower resolutiion

New 27" iMac with i5 proc - 4 mb - Radeon 6770M
EVE plays beautifully with all the eye candy turned on. Beautiful picture at 2560x1600.
Acceptable framerate during combat. Yes the text is small, but it's crystal clear.
The only two issues I notice are it's really laggy in the character creator, and after an hour or so it puts out quite a bit of heat.

I'd like to see if the new iMac 27" really works well with everything turned to max. Be nice if the system being captured is something like JITA in terms of population.
I have been wondering if I should get myself an iMac instead of a new PC. Wife be happy since the iMac is "pretty".

That's for a previous model. I currently use a mid-2009 MBP and its fans reliably crank up to 6000 rpm when playing EVE. Same goes for all of our MacPros at work -- they'll peg the fans when we push the processors hard.
Thanks for the comments so far -- I hadn't thought about the effective ppi of the new screen. I might have to see if one of my local Apple stores will let me install the EVE client for testing purposes; normally I play under Windows 7 (better performance) but the Mac client will suffice for checking any UI issues.

I'd like to hear about the performance of Incarna on a 2011 iMac - Mac native client or otherwise.

Performance on the new iMacs is nothing short of fantastic if you ask me. But I wouldn't get one for EVE anyway as you'd constantly be worried about temperatures, see the Mac temperature thread.

I had my iMac replaced last week due to a fault with it (was the 2010 version) but as Apple dont stock anything but their latest model I got given the 2011 one.
It seems much cooler than my last one, still get warm though but no way as bad. GFX also look much more crisp and the client runs smooth.
I do think EvE could still do with investing some time in the Mac client?

Ok my new iMac: i7, 16 GB RAM, 6970 with 2GB, normal HD
It runs the Eve Client with all grafix at max (no AA yet CCP ... please) even with 300ppl on grid, brackets on -> > 50 FPS, most of the time > 80 FPS
Temperature average 45 ŚC with GPU sometimes going toward 80ŚC (which according to AMD is normal).
CPU load average 15-22% RAM average 1.5-1.8 GB
Running 2 Clients maxxed, it pretty much stays the same, but CPU goes towards 30%. (This is running the second client on a scond monitor with 1680x1050 and main client on iMac monitor with 2560x1400)
Now what still sux:
No fixed window mode. I have to use a third party program to get a resolution in Eve that I do not cut off the bottom of the window, when running in windowed mode. As fullscreen also blacks your second monitor and you are screwed. CCP this kind of window handling within MacOS is realy easy. Adjusting your resolutions in windowed mode, even when your wine is emulating full screen, is realy easy too... c'mon fix this (and the jukebox)
Apart from that I am really happy with Eve on the mac.
