Using an specialized ship (Probing T1 frigate/covertops/T3 with subsystem) for exploration really yields a noticeable increase in performance?
I'm asking about exploration not ship probing, I'm quite sure that in ship probing the scan strengh increase can be invaluable in finding scannable ships.

well. once i tried to move to Minmatar space (from Gallente) to scan and find some new nice stuff from radar sites. I didn't want to haul 2 ships so i fit probe launcher into my thorax.... Well. I found many signatures but was able to scan-down only 1 or 2 from 10+.... Then i returned home....
Just small note: i have lvl4 in scanning, use faction launcher and probes and I only once experienced problems with scanning when i helped to my friend to get back fighter drones spread around whole system. And it was because each time i was needed to set 64AU range and scan down each drone at once.....

I can't figure out what you're asking about if you aren't asking about the scanning bonuses. The ships you listed have scanning bonuses - there are no other bonuses for "exploration."

Yes, it's worth it. Scanning will be much faster with the bonuses, and some advanced scanning techniques do not even work unless you have a specialized ship (and good skills).

In hi/low-sec, definitely no. 3/10-5/10 can be scanned down pretty easily, as well as most radars (that's my experience in amarr/caldari/gallente space, sisters probes but not launcher and no implants). Don't know about null-sec and higher rated DED plexes.

You have to two ship it if you go this route. I've found that I can scan everything in low-sec and high-sec that I find pretty easily with my skill levels. I'd say the covert ops are really only good if you're scanning in wormholes or maybe in null-sec where the signatures are harder to pick up.

Using a specialized subsystem on a T3 makes a huge difference, Adding 50%probe strength is invaluable, saves a ton of time and ensures you'll be able to find so many plexes without sacrificing all that much of any Pve capability.
