Edited by: DZeeta on 19/05/2011 14:00:46 I am looking for a good Amarr solo ship. It should be anything not capital or frigate and definetly not a legion. If possible, it shouldnt count on drones.. basicly what I am looking for is a decent ship with not too much training that could train on my alt.
Will use the ship in low sec roams mostly in fairly inactive systems.

Edit: I skipped over Prophecy, Navy Aurogor cause they scream bait and targets will just avoid you.

Depends really, if you have scouts and feel lucky the battleship line could work for you, except the Apocalypse. For everything else though, especially between enemy 0.0 lines for killing ratters I think the Pilgrim is king.

Shield Omen can be funky, it's not really that good but you'll get fights with it (and can surprise some people). Even though you said no to frigates, the Crusader is a rather fun little thing. Fast, good dps and range, decent allround resists.
Harbinger is an obvious choice.

Edited by: Ravenesa on 19/05/2011 15:35:54 For PvP in Amarr ships you would do well to get into the Arbitrator line. IF you are flying BC's and BS's you should at least have skills for T2 Mediums and what not. I've yet to meet an FC that would say no to an Arbitrator/Pilgrim/Curse. The drone skills will apply to pretty much all ships you fly. Warrior II's are pretty much the PvP gold drone standard. Even ships like a Dramiel will think twice about engaging an Arby and will avoid the Recon versions. As a Dram pilot myself I wouldn't hesitate to go after any other Amarr cruiser.

Purifier, followed by the rest of the ships mentioned.

You say no to drones and yet, the Arbitrator line is probably the best Amarr Solo ship. -------------------------------------------------- I am the Love Angel, Wedding Peach, and I am very displeased by your lack of love! |

You might find amusement with an AC Maller.
Hey, it's oldschool, but cheap!

AC Maller is a good ship because it has a lot of tank and does decent DPS, not the best DPS though. It works well because it baits people into battle as opposed to a battlecruiser.

Well, seeing as you have dismissed the Slicer and Curse/Pilgrim out of hand here then the Harbinger is your best bet. Battlecruisers do most of the leg work in low sec anyway.

I find the harbinger to be pretty lacking as a solo bc compared to the other tier 2 battlecruisers, even the much maligned myrmidon and espcially the drake and hurricane.
If you don't like the slicer or the arbitrator you're probably not going to find much success with t1 amarr solo roaming. Might find some enjoyment with an omen, but it's definitely far more limited in targets than the slicer and arby.

depends on what kind of solo pvp (nil. low, fw) and what ships class' you are hunting.
the drone ships are really great - and its not that much training btw since you can skip heavy drone op and focus on combat drone op and drones with the racials and so on. . . pretty quick to t2 whatevers. Considering that you are looking at Sentinal (frig killer), curse (general purpose solo pvp) and arbi (great cheap fun) as some of the best solo ships in the game (particularly the curse) and that they are not large drone users.
Otherwise, Navy Omen is probably your best cruiser solo pvper. But really, Amarr gunboats are usually fleet, drones are solo/small gang, and rockets/HAMs are support/tackle.

I am surprised nobody has mentioned HAC. The zealot and sacrilege are both great.

Crusader, Slicer, Arbitrator, Omen Navy, Harbinger, Pilgrim/Curse, Armageddon (BS not recommended unless that is your thing)

Curse and Pilgrims seem nice. What is the main difference between them?

The Pilgrim comes with fitted leather seats and a heated front windscreen as standard. The Curse has Bluetooth integration with the stereo and heavy duty mudflaps.
Both have Neut bonuses but curse has a range bonus with this also? Where as the Pilgrim doesn't get the range bonus but does get Cloaking bonuses (reduced CPU)

The Zealot is awesome, but not as a solo boat; no neuts and no dronebay make me sad. The Sacrilege, I have trouble liking it, but that's just personal.

Slicer - kills most frigates when fitted and flown properly and can take on a number of larger ships with success.

My vote goes to the curse/pilgrim. The pilgrim is best for hunting carebears as it can sneak up. The curse is better if your target may decide to bite back. But those are drone boats and relatively squishy, so no GCCing on a gate/station obviously (great for ****ing all over camps however). A good all rounder is the harbinger. The harb does rely on drones for much of it's dps (30-40%) but is not totally dependent on them. It has plenty of utility mids for tackle, good dps and good tank. The T1 cruiser line for amarr is a bad joke, so you aren't going cheaper unless you look at frigates. For frigate hulls, the nano-slicer gets my vote as best overall although the vengeance has some interesting active tanked brawling setups too. Thus far you shall read, but no further; for this is my sig. |
